Yes but will a cable channel be able to keep the same format...time period songs, etc? Thats what makes Cold Case a great show.

I doubt a cable show could keep up the same format.. and if it did...there would be half as many episodes (not a bad thing, 14 episodes is better than none at all.) Bottom line IMO, unless ABC picks up Cold Case, then the seven years we got out of it is what we'll have to enjoy.

The one positive thing about TNT picking it up would be that their seasons are only about 14 episodes yes, but they seem to start a new one about every 6 or less months.

It's a long shot...we'll just have to wait and see.

I don't have any idea about TNT, or any other American station. All I'm trying to do is get it back on air, so it starts airing over here again. They stopped it half way through the 7th Season, and have no plans to finish it which is a shame. I heard TNT does reruns, so hopefully they'll pick it up and give us some new episodes.

I don't really post here much anymore because I don't watch the show these days but I'm gonna play devil's advocate. IMO the show has been way below standard for some time and I think it would painfull to keep a show going that really has become stale, and has been this way for a few seasons. It probably would've been better if this decision was made earlier so they could've filmed an ending, but I think they would be flogging a dead a horse even more if they did another season. There were few glimpses of hope that the show would return to its best post season 2, and I do honestly think around seasons 4 they did try to fix things back up again but unfortunately I think the ship had already sailed wit the epic post season 2 fark up. Anyway people, jusyt my opinion, I'm sure many would disagree but that's my 20 cents.

I'm going to disagree, because personally, I loved the later storylines more than the earlier ones. Season 5 & 7 had amazing storylines, many of my favourites. I have a few from the past seasons, but I believe they did a great job on keeping it going. One thing that I really like is they focused more on the characters personal lifes, which I liked alot. It was nice to see more of their families, and things they do out of work.
I don't know if I'm right, but wasn't Cold Case usually in the Top 20 every week? Well if they were, I think that says something. They didn't get the chance to finish it well, which I can partly blame the writers for not trying to give a normal ending without so many questions waiting to be answered...But I think it tells us that they weren't certain it was going to be cancelled.
So to speak, I enjoyed the last few seasons more than the earlier ones, due to the cases being more emotional, and the characters personal lives being explored more.

Every poll that I looked at this season showed them in the Top 20, so I am a little baffled at the cancellation. The only thing I can attribute to as the reason CBS took it off the air was $. I am with you lillyscotty, I did enjoy the later seasons with the personal storylines, it let us see them in a whole different light. The earlier seasons hinted at it, but the later ones showed us more. Either way I am going to miss new episodes of this show. It is the best most underrated show on TV.

Hello 00Bomber,
I can understand your sentiments very much. Fans have come and gone when changes took place in season 2 and more dramatically even so in season 3 where the remnants of loyal watchers exited. Season 5 and 6 were most unattractive to me. I really couldn't find more than one or two episodes I really enjoyed those seasons. I was really unhappy those two seasons and it felt somewhat like torture to see what had become of the original show. But in spite of those changes there were always new fans coming to the series. But a lot were lost from post Season one and two when the show seemed to turn less Lilly-centric - they left in droves.

I have to say, Season 6 had a couple of my favorite episodes...but also some of the worst as well. Same goes for Season 3. It had Saving Patrick Bubley, A Perfect Day, but also had Start Up , Debut (the victim in this one irked me to no end),Dog Day Afternoons and the biggest stinker IMO 8 years.

I caught with S1 trough S5 on TNT, and I noticed the difference on S3 as I watched the rest of he seasons, but I still loved it.

Season 6 was just epic!
What's all this buzz with Seasons 1 or 2. Yes, I like Lilly but we had to see more than her.
Seasons 1,4 and 6 were the best for me. Too many emotions with "Shuffle, Ball Change", "Wednesday's women", "A time to hate"... Too many emotions!

Heard rumors ABC may pick it up...long shot but there's always hope.. As one columnist put it, if they were on a different network, it would have held on because it brought in good ratings. But to the CBS head honcho, not good enough. To the rest of the networks, the 9-10 million viewers would be enough.

Too many emotions with "Shuffle, Ball Change", "Wednesday's women", "A time to hate"... Too many emotions! I understand what you're saying, but for me it wasn't because the show got less "Lilly-centric", it was because for the most part the cases became stale, and I couldn't just buy the killings most of the time. Not that I ever once cried over any of the episodes, but I will say that so many of seasons 1 and 2 eps were quite moving and still stay in my head til this day. This was one thing that for me they couldn't seem to replicate anymore. I found that the show just got really predictable, and the killing of the victims were often stupid, or just a non event. I almost never "cared" (in a telly sense) about the victim post season 2. I also found that they made Lilly a bit too soapy. E.g. the photos of victims on her bedside table thing that George mentioned in the S2 finale was ruined about a season later by having Miller mention it to her, and then showing her putting a photo of the victim beside her bed. It was almost as though they were saying to the audience "see we do continue story lines" after the way they neglected the woods. It was supposed to be so private and all of a sudden she puts it on her bedisde table in front of some boyfreind she hooked up with in 5 minutes? The way they did the boyfriends I'm not gonna bother with. Just thinking about it now if seasons 3 and 4 were as good as the first 2 and the show ended there then it would be remembered as a great show. Its so much better to end a show while its still good than to let it turn to poo poo and have it run for so long. All I can say is they had such a good thing going and whoever decided to fix what wasn't broke must've been smoking bongs everyday. I know I'm being harsh but I know heaps of people agree with me.

Opinion is subjective. See, with me, my favorite seasons were 3 and 4, especially season 4 as that season had some of the most emotional cases of the series. Season 5 wasn't bad; but it was around S6 that the cases started to get a bit stale. S7 wasn't much better until the later half.
But, I still enjoyed S6 and S7, because they revealed things about Lilly and the team. Now I know that some people believe that Lilly should have remained this extremely mysterious character, but I feel that knowing more about her made the audience closer to her.
In my own opinion, it would have been nice for their to be at least one more season, or even half a season in order to give it a proper ending.

S6/S7 Had Read Between The Lines,WASPS,Triple Threat,Metamorphis..all great episodes for me, I truly feel it's matter of option. I also feel Cold Case could have lasted one more year. There were more than enough stories for them to use, and unlike many other shows in their twilight age...it still was able to draw me in.

I thought Season 4 was the best...but there were some excellent episodes in Seasons 5, 6 and 7.
I'm mad because I got 12 people to send letters from Australia (I bribed friends and family and paid their postage)....I tried really hard...
