When they came home children were happy to see mum and dad again. All six cuddled close to Lil as she sink into the couch. "I love you so much," she whispered.
Scotty pulled Finn into the kitchen, "How was it? You guys ok?"
"Had minor problems but nothing we couldn't handle, "Finn smiled.
"You sure?"
"Yeah. Everything's fine. Justina's now more convinced we'll be ok having kids on our own so I should actually thank you, guys."
"Good. Good..."
"What is it, Scotty?"
"Uhmm...Lil and I will tell you officially later, but...while we...Lilly had a miscarriage."
"Oh," thats all Finn was able to say while he obseved Scotty.
"Around Christmas time...we want to go for a week's vacation again."
Finn nodded, "You don't celebrate Christmas here anyway and I already talked to my dad bout bringing Justina over. I'm sure he won't mind kids around at that time. I'm sure he'll be trilled bout it."
"Good. Don't say anything untill Lil will say something, though. I don't want her to get mad."
"You got it, Scotty. But...if kids will stay with us during Christmas you'll need to buy them presents, 'cause my parents will and Justina and I will...you know...it's a tradition at our house."
Scotty nodded before returning to living room and snuggling close to Lil and all the kids.


When Scotty and the kids were in bed, Lilly snuck out into the lounge. Finn was lying on the couch eating chips.
"Hey Finn."
Finn jumped, and sat up. "Hey."
"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you."
"Nah, don't worry."
Lilly took a seat next to him and dug into the chips. "Can we have a talk?"
"Yeah sure."
"So...the trip that me and Scotty went on...it didn't turn out the way we wanted it too."
"Did you two have a fight or something?" Finn asked, trying to be oblivious.
"No, no. I lost the baby."
"What?"
"That's apparently the reason why I wasn't growing. My body knew it was going to happen."
"Lilly," he whispered, gently rubbing her back.
Lilly felt her eyes water as Finn calmed her down. "I really wnated a baby."
"Do you want me to call Scotty?"
"No, I don't want him to worry."
"Okay."
Lilly let her head rest on his chest as she cried. Finn held her tight, in the morning, he would tell Scotty how much this miscarriage was effecting Lilly.

"Two months might be a bit too long. Think bout something more between now and the trip, ok? She's in really bad shape. I got to go. See ya." Finn took last sip of coffee and left the house for work. Scotty wanted to make his wife happy but knew Lil might get mad if he will be too obvious with his actions. He decided to plan special weekend as a alone time away from kids. He told Lil that after work on Friday they're going out for dinner but kept rest a secret.
"Where we're going, Scotty?" she asked after they left restaurant seeing they're not driving home.
"You'll know soon enough," Scotty grinned, "now, close you eyes."
"What?"
"Just close them, Lil. And no peeking."
"I'm not in the mood for games."
"Too bad, coz I am," he winked at her, she wasn't happy but did as he told her.
When few minutes later Scotty stopped the car someone opened Lil's door and she snapped her eyes open and saw him giving her a hand to help her out of the car, "Scotty? Why are we here?"
"To relax. Spend time together, alone, as a husband and wife."
"It's an expensive hotel. We can't-"
"Everything's alright, honey. Our suite is awaiting."
"Suite?" she moved closer to whiper into his ear, "Are you crazy?"
"Yes, I am," he placed his hands around her, "You can yell at me on Monday. Now let's just enjoy our time."
When they got to their room, Lilly couldn't believe how amazing it was.
"I know we can't try for the baby, yet. But some practice..." Scotty grinned leading her to the bedroom, "How bout we start here?" He placed small kisses on her neck and she, unable to resist him, pushed him onto the bed and started taking of his clothes.
Hours later Scotty awoke to the sound of sobbing.

Scotty rolled over to Lilly's side of the bed, noticing she was gone. He sat up quietly and rubbed his head.
"Lil?" he called, hoping she would answer.
Instantly the sobs stopped.
Slowly the bathroom door opened and Lilly came out. Her eyes were puffy and red, and underlined with dark circles. This told Scotty she hadn't slept at all last night.
"You okay baby?"
Lilly stuggled over to Scotty and fell into his arms. She started to cry hard, her hands clutching his shoulder.
"What's wrong?" Scotty whispered, rubbing her back.
She didn't answer, just clutched harder.
Scotty slowly laid back on the bed with Lilly sobbing on top of him.

A few hours later Lilly looked up at Scotty. Her eyes flickered open and shut.
"You wanna tell me what's going on," he asked, smoothing her hair back.
She gently rested her head down his chest again and started to mumbled. "I want our baby Scotty."
"I know, we just have to wait a few months."
"I want it now!"
"Lil relax," he gently rolled her over and looked into her eyes. "I know it's hard, we'll try again, you just need to be patient."
"I just want one."
"You'll get one, just not right now."
Lilly nodded and pulled him down next to her. She led her head rest on his chest and closed her eyes.

A few hours later Lilly looked up at Scotty. Her eyes flickered open and shut.
"You wanna tell me what's going on," he asked, smoothing her hair back.
She gently rested her head down his chest again and started to mumbled. "I want our baby Scotty."
"I know, we just have to wait a few months."
"I want it now!"
"Lil relax," he gently rolled her over and looked into her eyes. "I know it's hard, we'll try again, you just need to be patient."
"I just want one."
"You'll get one, just not right now."
Lilly nodded and pulled him down next to her. She led her head rest on his chest and closed her eyes.

Following month went by fast. Lilly would occasionaly lay in bed crying but for most part she tried to be strong and spend time with their kids as much as she could. Right after Thanksgiving Lil went with Justina shopping for Christmas presents for kids.
"Why you don't celebrate Christmas?" Justina asked her while they were browsing through toys, "Shouldn't have asked. Sorry," she added seeing Lil sadden by the question.
"It's ok. My family...it never became a tradition at out house."
"Your dad celebrates it."
"Most likely he does it to make Celeste happy."
"Scotty's catholic. He doesn't mind?"
"I don't--I don't think so. Oh, that would be perfect for Bella. What do you think?" Lil pulled a box of the shelve
"She'll love it."
"Then we have toys for all of them," Lil smiled.
They went to Paul's house to wrap all the gifts and they placed them under Christmas Tree that already stood decorated in the living room.

That night Scotty came to the bedroom and saw Lil in bed staring at the ceiling. He slowly slipped under the covers and turned the lights off not wanting to disturb her or start the topic that might make her cry. Lil moved closer to him placing her head on his chest.
"Scotty?"
"Hmm?"
"You want to celebrate Christmas?" she mumbled
"We are. We're goin' for week's vacation."
"No. I mean with Tree and presents and dinner and kids and rest of the family."
Scotty wrapped his hands around, "I guess it would be nice but I want whatever you want."
Lil looked up into his eyes, "I'm serious, Scotty."
"Whatever will make you happy will make me happy, Lil."

That night Scotty came to the bedroom and saw Lil in bed staring at the ceiling. He slowly slipped under the covers and turned the lights off not wanting to disturb her or start the topic that might make her cry. Lil moved closer to him placing her head on his chest.
"Scotty?"
"Hmm?"
"You want to celebrate Christmas?" she mumbled
"We are. We're goin' for week's vacation."
"No. I mean with Tree and presents and dinner and kids and rest of the family."
Scotty wrapped his hands around, "I guess it would be nice but I want whatever you want."
Lil looked up into his eyes, "I'm serious, Scotty."
"Whatever will make you happy will make me happy, Lil."


So the next morning, Lilly went out while every one was still asleep and brought a Christmas Tree. She rushed home, hoping to have it put up before everyone awoke.
It was 6 am when she finally got the Christmas Tree up and decorated. She smiled realising how much she enjoyed it and how fantastic it looked.
"Lil?"
She quickly turned around, her eyes locking on a very tired Scotty.
"What are you doing?"
"I brought a christmas tree!" she smiled, moving closer to him.
"Why didn't you let the kids help?"
"I wanted it to be a surprise, they can help me do the stockings."
"Oh okay."
Lilly wrapped her arms around his waist, kissing him deeply.
"Let's wake the kids up."
Lilly dragged Scotty up the stairs, smiling with excitment. She ran into every ones rooms and yelled at them to wake up.
They followed her down stairs as Scotty did the same.
"Christmas tree." Tamara screamed, running up to it.
"Yeah, I thought I would buy us all one."
"I love you mummy." Bella whispered, cuddling her.
"Now all of you go pick out a stocking, and I want you to use a permanent texta to draw whatever you want on it."
"I'll watch." Scotty whispered, letting go of her hand.
Lilly watched as the children giggled. She smiled too, happy that this would be a family christmas that they all would enjoy.

Lilly dragged Scotty up the stairs, smiling with excitment. She ran into every ones rooms and yelled at them to wake up.
They followed her down stairs as Scotty did the same.
"Christmas tree." Tamara screamed, running up to it.
"Yeah, I thought I would buy us all one."
"I love you mummy." Bella whispered, cuddling her.

Later that day Lilly called her father and his wife asking to move Christmas dinner to her place. Celeste was hesitant at first but finally agreed. After hanging up she had to make one more phone call, one that she never suspected she ever would.
“Hello?” woman answered
“Rosa? Hi. It’s Lilly,” nervousness creeping into her voice
“Oh, hello Lilly. How are you? How are the kids?”
“I’m good. They’re good. Everything’s…good,” Lil paused after that
“Lilly? M’ija, what’s wrong?”
“Uhmm…for Christmas dinner is Mike coming over to you?”
“Yes. Mike with Alegria and kids.”
“Any other family’s coming?”
“No, unless you and Scotty will show up.”
“That’s why I’m calling-“
“Lilly, you don’t have to. I understand that don’t celebrate it and I finally made peace with that.”
Lil chuckled nervously, “Yeah, about that…This year I decided to do Christmas dinner at our house.”
“Are you sure?”
“No,” Lilly’s voice weak, “but I should at least try. For Scotty.”
“Don’t worry, m’ija,” Rosa’s voice warm and reassuring, “If you really want to do Christmas I can help you with everything. I can do all the cooking for you or I can come over and help you. Whatever you want.”
“That would be nice, you coming to help me. I should learn how to do turkey, right?” Lil heard the older woman chuckle.
“Turkey’s not as hard to do as you make it sound, Lilly.”
“Anything more complicated than pancakes is hard for me, Rosa.”
“Nah, you’ll do great. I'll see you soon, then.”
“Ok. Well, I should call Alegria and invite them. Bye, Rosa.”
“Bye.”
Lil was ready to hang up when she heard Rosa’s voice, “Lilly?”
“Yeah?”
“Thank you.”
With that Rosa hung up. Lilly gained little bit of confidence that with help of her mother-in-law first Christmas at her house might not be such a disaster after all.

Lilly had bought all the food which was stacked in the fridge and freezer. When Scotty found out about Christmas dinner, he was shocked.
"Are you sure? We don't have too."
"I want too."
Lilly lightly kissed him on the lips and then left for to put the kids to bed.
When Scotty climbed into bed, Lilly was going over some list.
"What's that for?" he asked, looking over.
"The food, just making sure I have everything."
"Well." Scotty grabbed the list from Lilly and placed it on the night stand. "How 'bout you do that in the morning, I have other plans for us."
Lilly giggled as Scotty started nibbing on her neck.

"Mummy."
Lilly looked up from the fridge and saw Bella standing there.
"Yeah honey."
"Are we going to have Christmas every year?"
"Well I don't know."
Bella moved close to Lilly and hugged her. "Why was Daddy crying?"
"Daddy?" Lilly asked standing up.
"Yes, was crying with Tammy."
"He was?"
"Was!"
Lilly bit her lip and stared down at the small Blonde girl.
"Did he say why?"
"No, was just crying."
Lilly nodded and picked Bella up. She took the blonde into then lounge and gave her the remote.
"Watch what you want, I'll be back."

“Hey. Everything’s ok?”
Both of them turned to Lil locking their eyes on her and both turned serious, “Yes.”
“Can I join you?” Lil smiled sitting down on the floor
“Yeah. Sure, honey,” Scotty kissed his wife. Suddenly Tammy got up and run out of the room.
“I heard you cry before,” Lil lied not wanting to involve Bella
“Me? Nah, you must be mistaken,” Scotty got up and left too leaving Lilly alone on the floor. She knew something happened but needed an opportunity to get it out of Scotty.

That night, after tucking kids to sleep, Lilly lead Scotty to their bathroom where light where off and just few candles illuminated the room.
“You wanna join me…”she slid her shirt down to the floor
“That’s a question?”
“Hmm…what do you think?”
Scotty grinned wrapping his hands around her and kissed her passionately.
“I was thinking…How bout we still take our little trip? Leave after Christmas and we spend New Year’s Eve alone? Then if it’s a girl we can call her Eve,” he chuckled, they were both relaxing in the tub.
Lil smiled and looked up into his eyes, “What if is going to be a boy?”
“We’ll gonna worry then.”
“Scotty?”
“Ok, we can go with Luke.”
“Tell me what happened today, please.”
That made Scotty turn serious, “Nothing.”
“Don’t push me away.”
“Crap! I knew you’re gonna question me sooner or later.”
“That’s my job,” Lil smiled resting her head on his shoulder.
Scotty sighed, “Tammy was and I guess still is little bit mad at you for not having Christmas tree last year.”
“She remembers we didn’t have it?”
“Yeah, she does. She cried and I explained why we didn’t have it and why we do have it now and her tears turned into tears of joy. And I let out few tears on my own. Have a soft spot for that little one.”
“You have a soft spot for all the kids.”
“Yeah, but don’t tell them. Otherwise they’ll stop listenin’ to me,” Scotty smiled, “tomorrow I’ll bring kids’ presents from Paul’s house. Put it under our tree.”
“Our tree…”Lil muttered, “I like the sound of that.”

"Any troubles?"
"Nope, every little one has a present."
"That's nice, but we satill haven't got any of them a present."
"Get who a present."
They looked up and saw Finn coming in.
"Just some friends of ours."
"Who are they for?" Finn asked, pointing to the presents Scotty just brought in.
"The kids, don't let them open them."
Finn nodded and moved over to the kids. While he talked to the children, Lilly pulled Scotty over to the side.
"What are we going to get Finn?" she asked, holding onto his hands.
"I don't know."
"We need to get him something Scotty, he's my brother."
"I know, I just don't really know what he wants."
"God Scotty, we haven't got anyone anything."
Lilly stormed off leaving Scotty to feel anxious. Lilly's first christmas was starting to get hectic.

“How bout here?” he pulled Lilly into jewelry store, “Nice watch? With inscription? What do you think?”
Lil looked at them for a while finally choosing one.
“And the inscription saying ‘You were always like a father to me. Lilly’,” Lil instructed the clerk.
“Honey, he is a father to you,” Scotty whispered
“He’s not but always looked after me and helped us with kids and still covers for us at work.”
“Wait. Who are you talking bout?”
“Stillman. Who else?”
“I thought we’re getting one for your dad.”
“I couldn’t decide and then thought I should get something for Boss.”
Scotty chuckled, “Yeah. I understand. Still, think what to get them for Christmas.”
“I will,” Lil turned defensive, “Tomorrow.”
“Just promise you won’t be running around on Christmas Eve trying to buy something.”
Lilly shot him a look and he breathed a sigh of relief when her cell rang.
“Valens. Rosa? What?” Lil looked at her watch, “I totally forgot. We’re on our way.”

“That takes care of my side of the family,” Scotty got all the shopping bags to the car “Now we need-“ he saw panic in Lilly’s eyes, “Sweetie, you’re ok?”
“No,” she snapped “It’s like I don’t know them at all, Scotty.”
“Relax. Let’s go back to the mall, walk by every shop and something will come to mind,” Scotty hugged her trying to calm her down.
Hours later they still didn’t buy anything and Scotty was getting tired.

“I thought we’re getting one for your dad.”
“I couldn’t decide and then thought I should get something for Boss.”
Scotty chuckled, “Yeah. I understand. Still, think what to get them for Christmas.”
“I will,” Lil turned defensive, “Tomorrow.”
“Just promise you won’t be running around on Christmas Eve trying to buy something.”
Lilly shot him a look and he breathed a sigh of relief when her cell rang.
“Valens. Rosa? What?” Lil looked at her watch, “I totally forgot. We’re on our way.”

"What?" Scotty asked, seeing Lilly shut the phone.
"We were supposed, well I was supposed to meet up with her to discuss the lunch plans."
"Well we better go then."
Lilly pulled his arm, turning him back to her.
"Can you go?"
"What about you?"
"I need to finish the shopping, just go there and tell her I'm finishing some final shopping, and I asked you to work it out with her."
"You sure?"
"Yes, now hurry, I need to get these presents."
So Scotty quickly traveled off as Lilly scanned through shops. Sher couldn't find one thing that would show her family how much she appreciated them being around.

"What?" Scotty asked, seeing Lilly shut the phone.
"We were supposed, well I was supposed to meet up with her to discuss the lunch plans."
"Well we better go then."
Lilly pulled his arm, turning him back to her.
"Can you go?"
"What about you?"
"I need to finish the shopping, just go there and tell her I'm finishing some final shopping, and I asked you to work it out with her."
"You sure?"
"Yes, now hurry, I need to get these presents."

“You think I don’t know that,” Lilly snapped, “but I have problem buying something for my dad and Maggie comes home only for holidays and birthdays. She might as well be a stranger to me.”
Scotty sighed, “That’s true. At least she’ll buy whatever she’ll want. What about Finn and Justina?”
“Well…”
“Well what?”
“I spend more than we agreed on.”
“They help us a lot so as long as we’re not broke, I’m fine.”
“Really?” she looked into his eyes
“Yes,” Scotty hugged her reassuringly, “what did you get them?”
“Caribbean cruise. One week in February.”
“They deserve it. And I’m sure they will love it. Who wouldn’t want one week away from this war zone,” Scotty laughed when Lil shot him daggers, “What? We’re going away for a week, too.”
Lilly chuckled, “That’s true. How did it go with your mom?”
“Everything’s set. She’ll come early on Christmas Eve to help you cook.”
“Thank you, Scotty” she kissed him.
“You’re welcome. And you can count on my help too.”
Lilly laughed knowing it will be hard to get Scotty to help her in any way.

"I know it's your first Christmas, but you need to relax."
"I want to get everything ready."
"Just relax Lil! I'll have it done by tomorrow."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, now lay back and relax."
Lilly laid back in Scotty's arms as he played with her hair. Bella came into the room and crawled up next to Lilly.
She laid down in her mother arms, falling off to sleep.

Lilly's first Christmas was better than she ever expected. After dinner everyone gathered in the living room to open their presents. All of them were talking, telling stories, except for Lilly. She was sitting on a couch in Scotty's arms in silence while she observed her family. She looked at her father and smiled.
'I,' Lil thought to herself, 'Lilly Rush, well now Valens,' she chuckled to herself and looked down on the wedding ring, 'am spending Christmas with my dad.'
She was happy she decided to reconnect with him when she did, and she didn't run this time. Sure the beginning was rocky but they got through it and he was patient with her. Paul accepted her the way she was and that's what Lilly needed long time ago.
'And Finn,' Lil looked at her brother that was now cuddling to his fiance, 'I got so close to him. I'm so lucky to have him. He's the best brother anyone can ask for.'
Lilly looked around and her eyes rested on her parent-in-law. They were speaking something to each other in Spanish and Lil didn't know what, but the way Rosa smiled it must have been something sweet. Lil looked at Scotty and smiled thinking to herself again, 'I should get him to teach me Spanish. I belong to his family and that would make him happy and he should teach Spanish to the kids...Kids!' Lilly looked to her and Scotty's side and saw all the kids cuddling close to them. 'I have kids! Who could have thought. And six of'em and I love them all so much. How did that happen? I'm definitely not who I was long time ago. Not a scared little girl, one runnin' away from feelings. That's not me anymore.'
Lil rested her head on Scotty's shoulder, "Thank you Scotty," she whispered to him.
"For what?"
"For giving me something I used to think I don't need."
Scotty smiled knowing what she ment. He pulled her closer and kissed her on the forehead, "You're welcome."

Scotty quickly lifted Lilly into his arms and carried her upstairs. As soon as he laid her onto the bed, he noticed she was fast asleep. He smiled and pulled the covers over her, quietly slipping under the covers.

"Mummy!"
Lilly woke up, her eyes flashing open. She looked down at Tammy with her little doll. She hid a smile when she saw the hand that had been removed.
"What honey?"
"My dolly's hand fell off."
"Now how did that happen?"
"I don't know."
Lilly grabbed the doll from her hands and inspected it. The hand had somehow been ripped off, which she suspected was done with scissors.
"Honey, go back to bed, I'll fix it later."
"Nooooo! I want it now."
Lilly sighed and pulled the blonde girl into bed with them. She cuddled up to Lilly and pulled the doll into her hands.
This woke up Scotty, but he kept his mouth shut, feeling very dozey.
Before Lilly could fall back to sleep, she heard another toddler talking.
"Mummy, someone's in my room."
Lilly groaned looking up at the end of her bed. Matt was standing their smiling.
"Who's in your room."
A giggle came then Bella appeared. "Meeee!"
Lilly let her head fall back as everyone climbed up onto the bed. The whole family were soon together on the couples bed, falling off to sleep as they cuddled into each other.

Lil woke up to the kids' screams coming from the hallway. She looked to the side hoping to prompt Scotty to deal with them, but his side of the bed was empty. She looked up at the bathroom door. They were closed, sound of water running. Scotty was already taking shower. Lilly grew frustrated as kids yelling increased in volume. She got up and rushed to the hall. When she got there all six kids looked at their mom and all stopped screaming. Lilly took a step towards them which made them all run away to their rooms except for Tammy. Little girl stood there with her broken doll in her hands and tears running down her cheeks.
"Tammy, honey, don't cry. I can't fix your doll but I will buy you a new one, ok?" Lil picked her daughter up.
"But I love my dolly," Tammy cried out.
"I know you do, sweetie."
"Why she always break my toys?"
"Who does?"
"Her!" Tammy pointed towards one of the doors and Lil saw Bella peak from behind them.
"Wait here Tammy."
Lilly went to Bella's room and closed the door behind her. Isa was now in her bed hiding under blanket.
"Bella, come out here.” But girl didn’t even move. “Isabella Summer Valens, come out now!” Lil said through teeth. Isa slowly got out of bed and took a stand in front of her mother looking at the ground.
“Why did you do that to Tammy’s doll?” Lil couldn’t get any response from the girl and grew more irritated. When few minutes later nothing had worked Lilly found herself spanking Isa which made little girl cry.
“Daddy!” Bella cried out and run towards Scotty when she saw him standing in the bedroom door. Scotty picked her up and hugged her close trying to calm her down.
“You were so against spanking and now you’re doin’ it yourself? Great example for the kids, Lil.”
Lilly shot him a look and stormed off to the kitchen.
