Because IMO, they want to cancel it after this season... with using the ratings don't justify the costs excuse. They did it to Murder, She Wrote. They put it against Friends, where it tanked in the ratings.... just like they knew it would. By then, they had their justfication not to renew it again due to "low ratings". I have no doubt that's what their doing here.

i don't know if CBS wants to really cancel the show, right now that's just rumor talk. Waiting 45-50 minutes later than usual to see a show is unreal, especially since it's late at night. I'll be tuned in anyhow, CC is still my favorite show.

Yeah, I agree with ninja that CBS is deliberately trying to cancel this show since I am very familiar with network tactics and cancellations. "Veronica Mars" just didn't have a chance against "American Idol" or "House" and it was a well-scripted sarcastic noir show. It's a shame since CC is one of the very little gems I watch on tv besides "NCIS" or "Glee."
I haven't been able to watch CC on my t.v. since they pushed the time back to 10 pm...too late on a "school night." Even though I am up typing this message at 12:29 am, just finished homework while watching the "latest" CC episode(Soul) online after getting home at 8 PM today.
THANK GOD FOR CANADIAN TELEVISION AND THE INTERNET!!

ok well not the greatest numbers for cold case....
But anyone take a look at Three Rivers!! Cold Case had better ratings for god sakes!!! Like i guess it takes people half an hour to figure out how dumb the show is! LOL... But when it gets chopped. Cold Case needs to move back to its old timeslot!! Who agrees???

I agree fully and if they don't move it back to nine, at least put a show like NCIS in there. That will be a stronger show to lead into CC. But the ratings won't improve as long as it stays at 10 p.m. Just cancel TR already!

It should be noted that when it actually started on time... it's ratings weren't bad for episode five.

It's done better than TR ever did in the 9 p.m slot.. even though it did start late... AGAIN

The thing is, I don't know that it actually did that much better. While it started up to over 10 million, that was probably a lot of Amazing Race's numbers from running over (unfortunately, it can't really be distinguished when they started changing the channel). On the second half and first half of Three Rivers, the numbers were below average at 8 million. Meaning, it averaged out at 9 million viewers for the night, right where it's been.
If they can get a 9 PM start time without football run-overs, then that would be a much better test of the 9 PM slot.

And that's the problem. I'm sure everyone noticed that Cold Case's ratings in Season 6 kicked up once it started on time... not a lot mind you.. but when football season was over with, CC ratings were better than before.

They were higher when there was no overrun even when CC started at 10PM so like Trublu said it would be a lot better test if CC would start at 9PM but on time. No CC this week so CBS has extra week to think about pernamently switching CC with 3Rivers (I don't see that happening thou ). Someone said it in some other post, 3Rivers is trying to fill the gap for ER but it's not the same dramatic show, it never will fill that gap.

Madmax... we'll just have to wait and see.. I think CBS will stick with CC at nine.... IMO but TR is not going to have a full season... CBS will at least want to have something in the 9 p.m. slot. In addition, not only will 3R never be what ER was but I think medical dramas have passed for the most part.
