ROFL, Boxman!!! Ok, ok--I get you. Stop kicking my a$$!!! It already hurts from the beating Sonny gave me. :smile5:
I hafta admit I haven't given the symbol theory much thought, and I read all your posts but very late on a work night so probably I wasn't as concentrated as I shoulda been. Truth is, thinking there might be symbols everywhere is a bit too much for me. I'd be going crazy trying to figure them out all the time. So I'd rather be skeptical.
I agree a good writer can turn out quality pages pretty fast, and Meredith MIGHT have a bigger scheme of things in mind, but I grow increasingly more skeptical as they seem to steer away from what would logically be the next step (of course, that could also be part of their game--playing with our heads), especially now that Meredith Stiehm is leaving CC.

I think I would have to agree with boxman in that it seems logical that Meredith must have [even if it has only been in her head] a whole plan mapped out for Lilly, even if it is just a very loose plan. She will have decided what happened to Lilly in her past because that has surely informed her of what Lilly behaves like now. Whether it is taken into consideration when she steps down is another matter. Meredith may have originally had intentions to see CC right through it's run.

Meredith may have originally had intentions to see CC right through it's run. I thought the latest news from InsideR is that its more like Meredith's "stepping up" to make room for Veena Sud to have more responsibilities, rather than "stepping away" because she wants less influence over the show?? I took it as Meredith will have more time to commit creatively to the show, rather than need to spend so much time reporting to Jerry.

What have you noticed boxman? I'm no good at guessing. Oh c'mon! You like to guess all the time!! Think about it...Kat doesn't appear much on the show. In the scenes that she does, what is her appearance like?? Ok, ok--I get you. Stop kicking my a$$!!! It already hurts from the beating Sonny gave me. Ha ha ha! ;D Still, it would be funny if someone started posting that way, with those words "worst episode ever"... ha ha ha... The imdb.com board is starting to get a small number of disgruntled viewers. I don't think they want to view CC more as drama, rather than a police show like, say CSI or something... I don't know. I never really viewed CC as a police show because I'd think they'd use more DNA and lab testing. The show goes very far into the personal life of the characters for me to see this as principally a police show, so I'm surprised at how disappointed some people get.

Meredith signed a development deal with Paramount Network Television back in June. Here's the blurb from The Futon Critic: She will have used up her one more season at the end of this season, so I'm guessing that she's moving on to other projects. I'm sure she'll still be listed with the show, but the day-to-day running of it will fall to Veena Sud now. I wouldn't expect Meredith to have a whole lot of involvement with the show from the fourth season on. Also, I do agree that Meredith planned out each of the characters story arcs. I remember reading an article with Kathryn Morris where she said that she finally got a lot of Lilly's back story out of Meredith. There's definitely a plan. I don't know if the writers are dropping hints or not, but it's possible, I suppose.

Thanks for the info, TVFan! Wow, what a big surprise for me! I feel rather comfortable that Veena Sud will run this show to my liking (and if not, well, I still have seasons 1 & 2 to watch).

Hey, did anyone else see this? Life imitating art (sorta): www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/03/30/drug.tombstone.ap/index.htmlVirgin Mary tombstones full of drugsWASHINGTON (AP) -- Federal agents on Thursday said they had broken up a ring of drug smugglers who used tombstones featuring the Virgin Mary to move hundreds of pounds of cocaine into the United States from Mexico. The Drug Enforcement Agency announced arrests of 12 people as part of an alleged conspiracy stretching from New York to Mexico City. Four of those arrests came Thursday, one in Houston and three after an early morning raid on a warehouse in New York's Brooklyn borough. At the warehouse, agents found bricks of cocaine packed inside tombstones, some decorated with figures of the Virgin Mary, the DEA said. "Like grave robbers who have no respect for the dead, this drug organization used revered tombstones to smuggle millions of dollars worth of cocaine into New York City," said John Gilbride, the special agent in charge of the New York DEA office. At the Brooklyn warehouse, agents found eight tombstones, five of which were packed with 20 to 25 kilograms each of cocaine. They also found remnants of smashed tombstones. An earlier seizure at a Long Island stash house netted 84 kilograms of cocaine and nearly $500,000 in drug proceeds, officials said. The investigation, dubbed Operation Omni Presence, began in May 2005 based on a tip from Long Island's Nassau County investigators, and it eventually drew in law enforcement personnel in Georgia, Texas, North Carolina and Florida. The DEA said the raids dismantled the entire supply chain, from the source in Mexico to the New York street dealers. A New York grand jury has indicted the suspects on charges including money laundering, possession with intent to distribute, and conspiracy. Last month, the DEA said it had arrested a separate group of suspected smugglers who surgically inserted drugs into puppies as part of another scheme. Copyright 2006 The Associated Press. That's interesting boxman. It's like a cross between this ep of CC and Lost.
BTW, I watched Maria Full if Grace this weekend (EXCELLENT movie in case you're wondering) and there definitely were similarities between the movie and this ep. The drug people here in the US were much meaner in CC, though. The two stories really compliment each other well. The movie goes into more detail about mules because it obviously had more time. I wish I had seen the movie first because I would have had more understanding of exactly what Ana went through.

That's a great movie indeed, TVFan. Just watched the ep. (one of my faves this season) and I was wondering: CC's trying to catch more and more Hispanic viewers. First with "Saving Patrick Bubley", then "Frank's Best" and now "Sanctuary". These 3 eps. are about situations quite common in LA, unfortunately. This way, I think they can increase the audience around here.

Boxman I like the way you analyze every episode. But did you know: Castille (in spanish: Castilla) was part of Christian Spain back in the 11th Century, the name is because of the many castles. Ana could be a reference to Saint Anne (in spanish Santa Ana) who was mother of Virgin Mary. Both has a connection to Christianity. Or maybe it's just me

Was able to tune into this re-run last night, and I really enjoyed it. I read through this thread prior to viewing, and I was a little concerned the Scotty-centric focus would not be something I liked (as in, detracting from Lilly). But, it did not, and I actually liked the whole story - particularly Scotty being called onto the carpet for some poor career (and personal) decisions once again. There were some great flashes of "old" Lilly in the opening scenes (especially vs. Romero). The look on her face when Romero says to her, "You think he's never lied to you?" - priceless! Credit again to Kathryn's subtleties ... she says so much with just one tweak of expression, or one look in her eyes. The entire guest cast was really good - Romero, Cessie, Ana, Priest. They all had a certain presence that, to me, was really enjoyable to watch. Sometimes, I think guest actors are just "there," sort of going through the motions of characters X, Y and Z. They generally always do a good job, but they can sometimes tend to not stand out on their own merits. I thought this guest cast, however, all gave strong performances, and really added a lot of intrigue to the episode through those performances. As has been mentioned in a couple of other episode threads, I thought there was again that mentor/pupil similarity with Stillman and Lilly when they were questioning Scotty. To me, it seemed they both had almost the same kind of glare, shake of their heads and disbelief in Scotty's actions - his overconfidence in his ability to get away with something when he knew he shouldn't even be doing it in the first place. And this is what stuck with me from this ep ... highlighting how far Scotty has got to go before he gets control of his ego and/or machismo so that his decision making does not destroy his career, other people's lives and/or ruin friendships. I loved how his former boss ripped into him toward the end of the ep ( ... "cleaning up your mess.") But interestingly, I was also struck by Scotty's comments to Vera out on the balcony AFTER that confrontation. Yes, he said he's "got bad habits" and he's "got to change." But one line in particular came across, to me, as almost defiant - like he STILL thought he could've gotten away with it and/or his actions were some how excusable. He says, "If I just could've kept things clean." I don't know if it was intended to come across this way, but I thought it was yet another sign of his overconfidence in his ability to get away with anything even when the risk is extraordinarily high. It's troubling that he seems to think he can control ANY situation as long as he does not get caught - no matter how inappropriate or damaging that situation may be. He really is oblivious / clueless / or just plain stupid (apologies for being so blunt) for not ever seeming to stop to think about something called consequences. He's got a lot to work on, I think. The ending was really moving to me - with Ana looking up at the version of herself she had hoped to be (the secretary with the flowers on the desk). Pretty good ep.

yeah I liked when Lilly and Stillman were talking to Scotty about the call towards the end, and he was like "Lil, you believe me don't you?" I like how Lilly and Scotty seem to communicate very well, and trust each other, esp. after all the crap with Christina...

I've just seen this episode yesterday. And I don't usually post anything in the episodesboard, because I think it has no need to post things about episodes you are already almost forgotten. But this one was so great I'm going to break my habit and post my opinion about Sanctuary. I 'd already read a lot about the ep, saw some quotes and vids, and that made me desire to see this episode even more! I was already ready to watch, with some lemonade and chips on the couch, at 5 past 9 I waited and waited and finally, at 9:25 it started. Hate to those people from Net5; the first part had NO subtitles. Now, my English isn't that bad and I could follow it good if they talked loud. But my Dad was talking through it so I lost it again (It's harder then you think, understanding a language that's not your primary language). Anyway, after the first commercials the crew of Net5 found out something was wrong and they threw the subtitles in. (I'm going to watch it again tonight, I taped it, see if I can follow it better the second time). This ep was really great! One of the best so far in season 3. Scotty was so cool with his unshaved chin I absolutely loved the part where he had to go to the Boss and Lil. I really felt with him, poor little Scotty, screwing everything up. Spoiler (I guess, not that it matters because everyone has already seen it, but just to be sure. I'm pretty sure lolgirly has never seen this one, so I guess she doesn't want to read this. It's not a very big spoiler, just some names and some stuff you find out thourhg the ep. Not much, because I have to go to dinner, so I don't have much time to write more. Anyway, here it is)* * * * * When they said Ana got the phonenumber from Alvaro I was like: Huh? Scotty..? I didn't really understand what was wrong with the statue at the end. Why did they film it all the way from below? Did it had something special? I'm sure I'm going to find out when I'm watching it the second time. My Mum's getting crazy, because I always want to watch episodes twice or three times. She says I'm addicted, but that's not totally true. I mean, she really likes old-fashioned seaguysongs (Dutch ofcourse, she's so against English, don't know why) and she's not addicted to them..?! It's not fair! Anyway, I'm going now. I hope you still remember the ep a bit when you read this. It's probably 2 years ago or so ;DBye!

But this one was so great I'm going to break my habit and post my opinion about Sanctuary. This forum is visited by people from all over the world and we recognise that not everyone is seeing the latest episodes. I have never seen any negative comments about anyone making posts in threads about, what are to some people, old episodes. I think you are free to comment on which ever episode you like. Sanctuary was, as it happens, shown on one of the digital channels in the UK just the other day. They seem to be going through season 3 at the moment. A related satellite channel has just started showing season 5. I can't say I'd noticed by myself (it does get mentioned by TVFan on the 1st page of this thread) but the drugs are hidden in the statue:
