Well you know how they bring something up and then it's done. Like Vera eating cake. Never saw the tofu yet. Nor him working out. Is he losing weight yet? Is he still eating cake? Where's Pappa Stillman's woman? You see. We have no idea if any of them are even around. MM is suppose to be on his way by now. My guess is he rode off already. I'm not sure about sukkerspin's reference to this new Lilly. I was thinking she means in relation to season one Lilly. Maybe sukkerspinn would like to explain more on this?

Sonny, since I'm POSITIVE we share a brain, I agree with what you said Haha. Although Naj, you brought up a good point. They have 'left things' so far this season. But I mean, I'm betting we'll see Stillman's wife show up again, and maybe another reference to Vera's diet. But I think the writers do have an ultimate plan for this whole 'thing' Haha, then again - I tend to be wrong about these things. So, we'll see.

But we do have few more episodes and seasons to go for all these things to be tied up. ;D

Ok, Naj and Sonny, good points both of you have. I can see Lilly wanting to act all tough etc in front of the guys, and clearly Ray hits buttons on Lilly that only a few other knows where to find. (I liked her smile when she saw him. Happy Lilly. We like to see her happy!)
The "new" Lilly is, like Naj suggested, as opposed to s1 and s2 Lilly. And really hard to explain, but something's changed and I don't know how to say what it is. only that I don't like it.
And last, I became a tiny bit afraid that they'd get back together and he would make Lilly quit her job. That can NOT happen. But I too trust the writers not to do anything stupid. Or MORE stupid. I'll stop now.

Okay, so what did y'all make of Scotty's reaction to Lilly and Ray. He looked kinda jealous to me, and if it wasn't that a little protective. :smile10:

I loved the episode! It had a great case, and the Lilly/MC Man moments were not as mushy as they could've been.
I loved the teasing from the guys at the beginning of the episode. Especially Will's (I think) "Anything you wanna share?" (or something like that). :smile21: :smile21: I also loved it when she told Scotty that she needed a minute; her facial expression was great! I kind of wanted to see what Stillman wanted and their interaction (mainly his reaction to waiting) though.
Some things LiIly did were kind of weird. For example, she gives a very exasperated "CRAP!" and says she's going to take care of "the problem" cause she'll have to sooner or later, but she gives a funny smile, says hey or something to that effect and without preamble climbs onto the back of the motorcycle. My first reaction to that was to scream, "Lilly, that is not how you solve problems like that" at the tv (procuring some comments very weird from parents of course).
Anyways, I really enjoyed the episode, and I'll stop my little rant.

I LOOOVED it, and almost jumped to my feet when Lilly said that. I don't know if you remember, but she also says this in the exact same way in 1x01... Reminded me of "old" Lilly. *sigh* *floates into memory-mode"

Oh, gosh, this is gonna be so hard. I really don't wanna sound rude, and usually when I've disliked an episode as much as I disliked this one, I'd keep the comments to myself. But since I've made such a big fuss about it, I feel I can't keep from saying something.
I've not read any of the other posts, so forgive me if I'm repetitive.
There are so many things I didn't like about this episode, I'm not really sure how to list them all. First off, I didn't like the case. It bored me. I found myself less than halfway through wondering when it would be over. I hated how they portrayed the victim--poor little wallflower thing, all alone at 30, can't get any, so of course here comes her bad rebel good lookin' boy and sweeps her off her feet, and since she doesn't know any better, she just falls for it... whoops! And gets killed trying to do what's right. Sure sure.
And I really did not like the Lilly/MC man scenes. Lilly was so out of character it was truly painful to watch (for me at least). I know she's not supposed to be rigid, and I realize people do unexpected things sometimes--but geez, she's just this girl hung over a man from 20 yrs ago, who every once in a blue moon waltzes in on his bike, a good-lookin face and a pretend sweet smile, and she falls and drools all over herself. Not even talking, just STRAIGHT on her bike and off into the sunset of Lilly's bed. After she was so guarded? HOnestly--I almost preferred the Kite scenes. At least those were gradual--Lilly like. This was just really sad IMO. And I know I have a lot of issues of my own that are probably at work here, and for that I'm sorry--but it's still my opinion and I can't change it.
This was such a typical "no, no--wait, ok" kinda thing, it made me angry. And Lilly's a bit too old to be still falling for the irresponsible bad boy, isn't she?
I'm sorry, guys. Thumbs down.

Disasterfreak, I'm with you in principle about this episode. Perhaps the writers haven't decided yet how to flesh out MC Ray's (Yikes! The name is sooo not bad-boyish) character because he was certainly unimpressive. I found it hard to understand what she fell for about him in the first place much less some 15-20 years later. It isn't that his character is so cliched -- it just doesn't fit the Lilly persona the writers have created in the first two seasons. Would the same Lilly who plugged serial-killer George swoon over this bad-boy wannabe twerp? On the other hand, he might be useful as a stress-reliever (he!he!he!) and very little else. I think the sooner she kicks ol' Ray-Ray to the curb, the better. The story was also a little less than inspired; frankly none have reached the zenith of "Saving Patrick Bubley" and that really did set the bar quite high. But perhaps the best is yet to come.

Oh well I've done my best, I can do no more. Sorry you disliked it so much DF and hope future eps make up for it for you. I guess we just see Lilly very differently and while I think she stayed Lilly like you did not. Oh well, I guess the writers can't please everyone. I'm sure there will be episodes down the track that I will hate that everyone else will love. Like you said, everyones personal experiences and circumstances kind of influence our opinions of this.

Hi DF, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy this episode so much. Similarly, I was kind of lukewarm to this episode when I first saw it air. Seeing the details the second time I watched it, though, again reminded me that its best not to go with first impressions when viewing this show.... One of the things I didn't really catch the first time was Roween's marked change at the very end during the robbery. Throughout the show, she seemed desperate for love; while it was only at the last moment did the show reveal another side of her personality--the self-confident, compassionate Roween. Not only in herself, she was even trying hard to bring this out in Phil too. I was also surprised at how flat Ray's character was, but now remembering this about CC, I'm expecting them to reveal more depth from this guy in the future. I don't think the writers are about to let us down with Lilly so quickly--they're just playing us. ha ha. Also, I'm not convinced Lilly and Ray slept together--I still think someone slept on the couch. How was it that Ray didn't wake up and couldn't tell that Lilly left for work?? They couldn't have been sleeping together, don't you think??
As always, I really enjoyed the performance of the supporting cast. The scene with Roween, her mom, and sister Terri was extremely touching. I like how both daughters teased their mom with the "are you losing weight?" to get her to change subjects. Very Funny!! Ivan Fonseca's accent, charisma, black clothing and orange sunglasses was great! A very well-developed character for such a short scene. The whole scene with Vera questioning him had me completely entranced. Fonseca. Classy. Phil was very memorable for me. He had a perfect South Jersey/Kensington accent. Phil from Philly, ha ha ha. He and Roween had a great scene in the cafe. I mentioned how Roween wasn't as desparate as we first think, and in that cafe scene, its unveiled that Phil really is more like the lion without courage. He looks scary but wasnt--he had quite a heart, and it was only through having such a big heart and compassion for someone else did he finally build his courage and told Roween the truth. Very touching.
Ray's bike is a Harley-Davidson VRod. Which specific model, I don't know. But the audio guys definitely dubbed the engine sound in. V-Twin engines don't sound like that! Ray's bike sounded like a Japanese four-cylinder! ha ha ha..
Kat and Jeffries are walking south on 17th Street to meet Terri at her shoe store. They are a block away from an actual high-end women's shoe store in Philly, and the interior shots looks like the actual store I'm thinking of. Of course, I'm not exactly sure because I haven't bought any stilettos lately, ha ha ha...
Philly doesn't have a "Softshell Cafe", though we do have a "Hardshell Cafe" on Market Street-East. I had lunch and a beer there once. Good food.
It's interesting how the makeup and costume department contrasted 'sexy' and 'desireable' in women versus men. While the actress that played Roween is attractive, they made the character Roween look homely with the simple treatment of her hair--just pulled back and unbrushed. Her sister Terri and Darla (as the bank teller), on the other hand, both had the 'Breck Girl' look with volumous hair. One even worked at a high-end shoe store. The two "Bad Boys", or "Boy Toys" if you will, each had ragged unkept hair and wore very basic clothing--black leather jackets and blue jeans. I guess when they showed Darla as the manager, her poorly managed hair was a tip-off that something had turned around for her.
Did anyone notice the butterfly above Roween's bedroom mirror?? It seems to parallel the butterflies on Laurie's laptop and bedroom door in the episode "The Promise". I suppose they are symbolic for characters who were about to emerge from a 'chrysalis' stage, a sheltered stage of growth.
It was completely hilarious to me that you ladies didn't really get to see a whole lot of the boy toy Ray. In fact, we got to see much, much more of The Hat and Julius.. ha ha ha!
