This is exactly how I feel LillyKat. I think this episode (or rather the Ray stuff) is best viewed in the context of the entire season. In this episode alone, it was a head-scratcher - no doubt. And I remember thinking that it just didn't sit well with me because of the way it played out. But having had the benefit of the rest of the season, I can accept this un-Lilly-like moment much better now. In the context of what happens with that drunk call in "Beautiful Little Fool" and what she does in "Joseph," it all makes sense. She was trying to recapture something that just wasn't there anymore. I can totally get that, but what I thought was out of character (still today) was having her accept him back into her home (bed) after realizing in the interrogation room that they were two totally different people. I guess Lilly was just trying to have some fun and do something somewhat "reckless." The only problem is, Lilly isn't reckless and it doesn't seem like she would suddenly decide to be just for a little fun.

Definitely agree, TVFan, that it's easier to view this ep in the context of the entire season. I can imagine it being a real head scratcher as a stand alone ... and even going back through this thread and reading everyone's comments, the ep seemed to meet with mixed reviews. Could have been more mushy, was not as bad as some thought, still somewhat confusing to others. Seems there was/is sort of the pro-Ray/anti-Ray just like there is/was pro-Joseph/anti-Joseph. Poor Lil ... we are all just so picky about who is best for her. And, I loved boxman saying how do we know that Ray didn't just sleep on the couch. That was a classic. I was not into having Ray come back for a second night's fling, either - especially after interrogation seemed to indicate they were clearly two different people. And, I'm so glad they changed "Beautiful Little Fool's" call to be to Kite, not Ray. That would just not have even worked as well. The dialogue about not wanting to end up like mom was WAY more powerful than "Come and take me away." LOL! I think I'm good with Ray having come/gone, and Lilly gotten "it" out of her system - whatever "it" was. But when I watch it, I just still am like, "Huh? Well, O.K. Lil ... whatever floats your boat."

Okay... I'm on my phone and its a hassle to quote etc so forgive me. But I just want to say I think Lil is totally justified in hopping on the back of that motorbike (and not just because its a harley rwoar). Ray is the guy who got her out initially. Sure she might recognise that she was on her own path out but he helped her out. And they were in love; and from the looks of it, it never quite died. So she's had the thought of him in her head forever (that whole first love thing) and its all very well to ignore that thought (telling scotty to tell ray she died) but when he actually appears... well, its a bit harder to ignore. Lil may be brave and smart etc but like anyone she will have her moments of weakness. There was more I was going to say (I could talk about this episode for days its one of my favourites) but the bus stopped suddenly and my train of thought went right out the window.

Thought this was an okay episode but I just don't think the people who want to rob a bank would go talking to the employees who work there of their plans.
I kinda see why some really like Ray and I liked him but I think that Lilly just doesn't know what she wants.
Loved this part:
Scotty: Boss is looking for you. Lilly: I'll be there in a minute. Scotty: What should I tell him? Lilly: I'll be there in a few minutes.
Something to that effect.

I agree...plus not to be super technical but in the grand scheme of things, under PA law (and many other states) it wouldn't matter who pulled the trigger. They would all be guilty of felony murder.
