Oh my! This was kinda interesting with this storyline. Since I'm a two time ep watcher--as always I need to watch it again. And then I tried to follow the music tonight. Usually I don't because it's too distracting. So everyone is called out and we see Lilly with her hair down! Wonder if they know about our desire to see her hair down? Any ways I enjoyed it. So they let Scotty have some screne time tonight towards the end with David Lake. DAKITE and his ADD gal --JULIE! She was pretty petite and kinda young! I'll save the other stuff for the LIlly/Kite thread over in GENERAL!!!!! The brother sister thing was very interesting. I would have liked to hear more of the whys and their family situation. But that was pitiful how he calls his sis up and doesn't fess up to the accident and they throw her over the bridge. What I'd like to know is how they weren't seen. They weren't that far from the city. You would think someone would have seen two people with a car stopped on the bridge and the trunk opened. All in all I liked the ep. I'm enjoying a story with unexpected twists........ ~Naj

I liked this episode too. My husband and I were laughing about how when she got called out at night like that, her hair looked great, but when she is out at normal time, her hair looks messy! You'd think it'd be the other way around. I hope they do her hair down more often.
Even though he didn't mean to kill the girl, it was wrong that the brother didn't get punished for helping get rid of the body (I know that he had not been Marandized and the confession couldn't be used). I think it is poetic justice, however, that his sister took the fall since her sexual actions with her brother initially caused him the mental stress that made him jerk away and knock the other girl down the stairs. The sister deserves to be punished for that, not just for getting rid of the girl's body.
Interesting that they showed a bit of personal stuff with Lilly tonight. I'm glad it didn't take away from the cold case file though.
Oh well, just my thoughts. Take care!

I really liked this episode. I thought that the plot was very well played out and the writing was so well done. Even though I didn't like the fact that Congressman Lake didn't have to pay, I thought that it added a realistic twist. Unfortunately, not every case is solved in real life as well. I liked Scotty's determination. He was really invested in this one, and it was good to see some character development. As far as the Lilly/Kite thing goes, the only thing I'm going to say is OMG! I'll save the rest of my comments for the Lilly/Kite thread. Overall, one of my favorites so far, although that could be due to the Lilly/Kite developments .

I liked this episode except for the fact that the brother didn't get punished for the crime. I was just saying to someone the other day how I hate when on CSI or Without a Trace when they know someone is guility but they can't do anything about it. That was the one thing I really liked about Cold Case, that after all that time someone finally had to pay for what they had done. Oh well like someone mentioned, I guess that makes it like real life.
Good episode though, lots of twists.

Hi -
Does anyone know the name of the actress who played victim Vanessa's mother? I KNOW I have seen this actress before, but I can't place her, and I missed the credits.
IMDB doesn't have this character listed, so they aren't any help right now.
Thanks!

If I am remembering correctly, I think she has a role on the show "Everwood." I can't find her name either, but I thought that this might help atleast.

This episode was pretty good. It didn't have as many twists and turns as I would've liked, but I thought the acting was good and I liked the Clinton j ;Dokes.

In my opinion, the mother sort of looked like Bonnie Hunt, but I'm sure it wasn't her.

Hi Hollyshannon,
So you have 4 left? Maybe they will rerun them during the summer. When will you get Season 2? Season 2 starts here in the US in Sepetember. Maybe they will begin on time there too.

According to futoncritic.com, CBS will re rerunning "Late Returns" Saturday October 16 at 9:00pm EST on CBS as part of CBS' Crimetime Satuday.
Only seen this ep once so I don't mind seeing it again but I was really hoping the first ep they would show on Crimetime Saturday would be "Maternal Instincts" since that was supposed to air last weekend. Oh, well.

I know that it was only rerun a few months ago, but according to the futon critic and tv-now, Late Returns is set to re-air Saturday, January 29.
