Just rewatched this episode.
When I first watched the episode two and half years ago, I was ambivalent about it. I loved the visual, the directing, the case was okay and the story arc with Lilly being fascinated of Joseph I found, well, not so convincing in some parts.
Have to say, the Lilly - Joseph story worked now better for me, without having seen the development week for week of season three this time before. Yep, I was disappointed about the character development in that season while watching it, by now I have made my peace with some things though. Maybe I should rewatch the whole season.
I loved the visual of this episode now even more than the first time. Some really great shots in there. I sometimes just stopped the vid and marveled at lightening, perspective and composition. I know, Insider mentioned, that the ep was some kind of tribute to the Film Noir classic "Laura" - I do have a thing for those films. Not just that the story had similiarities, but the visual style was there too. Applaus for that. Roxann Dawson did a great directing here.
BTW, tv.com says the film the kids are watching at the beginning is The Malteser Falcon with Humphrey Bogart - but for sure that is not Humphrey Bogart on the tv, that is Robert Mitchum. Could be When Strangers Marry / Betrayed (1944), but I'm not totally sure.
Oh, and Kat and Lilly have a nice scene at the beginning.

I had never commented/voted on this episode I gave it a good; I liked the case a lot even if it was recent
But there are 2 things I loved: *Lilly made a mistake; this was very important to me because that told us she's human and she's not perfect even at work *The scene between Stillman and Lilly was EXCELLENT!

Saw the epsidoe and I thought it was okay.
How did Stillman know that Lilly went to the farm when she was in his office? I think John did a great job in that scene and looking angry. I expected him to actually scream at her but liked the ending too as John looked angry and Scotty looked sad.
Where were they? Jones Tavern?

I confess, I actually really like this episode. Yes, Lilly did act stupidly in regards with Joseph, but she paid the price by having Stillman tell her off.

The part about Stillman and Lilly was I think maybe the best part of the show.
