InsideR,
Any indication how cutting production costs for the show will be visible in the episodes for season 7?

Sorry about the long absence. Please let me just leave it at "personal reasons." But I'm back - at least for the rest of the season!

Is there anything you can tell us as to why the other girl was dropped so quickly? Simple. Les Moonves, president of CBS didn't like her. Everyone on the show was puzzled and felt sorry for her. But Tracie Thoms is an outstanding performer - I think she will turn out to be a real asset to the show. As for that "leverage" thing - I'm really sorry I opened my mouth, er, computer keyboard. For one thing, it is TOTAL speculation (as in it might be completely wrong). So, to be clear, I have heard nothing that would make me think that KM was not going to be with Cold Case until the very last episode - ten or twelve years from now. -R I never really like Les when she came in. It seemed like they forced the character on us and didn't like there was something in her background since it made Vera suspicious.

Hey InsideR,
Any idea why the storyline concerning Stillman's daughter was dropped?
How did John feel about the script where Stillman doesn't know what a juice box is and where to put the straw in it? I loved that scene from the episode, 'Blood on the tracks'.

Not sure why the daughter line was dropped. Some great episodes coming up. Vera gets to wrestle with his past in Flashover. Outstanding performance from Jeremy with Pink Floyd in the background. Keep an eye out for a really great two-parter in which Rush has a mentor from the FBI - an old gf of Stillman's - and they hunt down a serial killer.

When one of the actors or actresses don't show up for a shoot in an episode or won't be in an episode, like Jeremy or Thom or Trace, do they still show up to see what happens or do they stay home?

How's the mood on the set, does the crew think Cold Case will be renewed and have another season?

Hey InsideR, Any idea why the storyline concerning Stillman's daughter was dropped? I didn't know there was supposed to be a storyline with his daughter. Was this something planned for the fourth season or more recently? So far, we've got confirmation on two women from Vera's past showing up again: His ex-wfe Julie in "Flashover" and another someone coming up in "Free Love". Any other familiar faces we could expect to return? How about the Coopers? Will we seee them again soon? Maybe even the unseen Cooper daughter Maggie?

The actors get story synopses and scripts even when they're not on set. If they're not in a scene on a given day they usually don't show. -R

There is a good summary of the end of season blast from the past elsewhere on this board. Christina - Lil's sister - reappears to stir up trouble. My guess is the issue of Cooper being her dad was sidestepped until they knew they wanted to revisit the character and could get Nikki back. No point revving up the audience's expectations if it's not going to lead anywhere. (i.e. when was the last time anyone mentioned Motorcycle Man?)

I think the mood is remarkably upbeat considering that it's iffy that the show will return. Everyone is doing the best job they can. I think the feeling is that if this is it, we go out with our best stuff and our head held high.

My only complain is that they should announce if the show will be canceled LONG before May and let the writers do a proper ending.

The writers have something that while not an "end" end should still be satisfying if it turns out to be the last. Last night was the wrap party for Season 7. Spirits were higher than usual - Jeremy came dressed in drag (and me with no flash camera!) and Tracie sang karaoke. Danny was wearing conspicuous bling (as a gag) and Kathryn just looked elegant, as usual. Great fun. -R

Glad everyone had fun though, let's hope there is a season 8.

If I'm correct it's a party to 'celebrate' wrapping up the production of something.
