As some of you know, I work on the show, but keep my identity secret. (I really like my job.) For the first two seasons I told a few inside stories and answered questions when I could. When that thread got archived I wasn't sure where to continue, or if anyone was still interested.
So, if there is still interest, reply to this post and we'll go on from here.

THANKS so much for everything!! You spoil us (that's not a bad thing ). I guess this is kind of an obvious question, but why the sudden interest in a new woman on the show?

I guess this is kind of an obvious question, but why the sudden interest in a new woman on the show? I'm not sure. The "official" word is that it keeps the show fresh - it offers new potential storylines to the writers, and new viewers who might tune in to see Tracie. There is also a nagging issue that the network feels the show's audience is too old, so by adding a young face they hope to attract more young viewers. There may be other more political reasons I can only guess at. PLEASE don't take this as anything other than speculation. But, logically, with two women on the show, the network and producers have more leverage over KM should disagreements arise. -R

Thanks for the info, InsideR. I don't exactly like the sound of the network and producers wanting more leverage over KM. It makes her sound disposable, but I'm probably thinking way too extreme.

You're Back!!!! We were wondering what happened to you. Is there anything you can tell us as to why the other girl was dropped so quickly?

Good to see you back, InsideR. I was wondering if you'd been fired or reprimanded or something, you were gone for so long. I'm glad to know your job's ok.
I don't like the sound of Lilly being disposable either. I hope they know to many of us Lilly IS the show, and if they can KM, we won't be watching. Hope there haven't yet been any "disagreements" (you WILL tell us when it happens, right? Let us down easy).

I agree with DF--if KM is canned (knocks on wood), I won't be watching. Anywho, I can kind of understand why they want to add another female character... it's only to gain more of a younger audience. What network doesn't want that. But the way they added you know who was all wrong.

Wow, InsideR, great to have you here, and I'm sooo thankful that you wanna share your thoughts and info with us! One thing I'm really really really wondering; will ELLEN RUSH be in the third season!?!?!? Thank you soooo much for the info so far! And merry Christmas!

Is there anything you can tell us as to why the other girl was dropped so quickly? Simple. Les Moonves, president of CBS didn't like her. Everyone on the show was puzzled and felt sorry for her. But Tracie Thoms is an outstanding performer - I think she will turn out to be a real asset to the show. As for that "leverage" thing - I'm really sorry I opened my mouth, er, computer keyboard. For one thing, it is TOTAL speculation (as in it might be completely wrong). So, to be clear, I have heard nothing that would make me think that KM was not going to be with Cold Case until the very last episode - ten or twelve years from now. -R

Yey you're back InsideR. I want to echo the question above. Will we be seeing Ellen Rush this season? Also what's the deal with so much less of Lilly again? and is the hair down thing gonna stick? (Sorry had to ask a hair question!!). Anyway thanks and kept us updated. I do hope all the peeps who make and are responsible for the show know how much Kathryn Morris means and how the show just wouldn't survive without her. ;D ;D ;D

I have yet another question for you, InsideR. Similar to Sonny's. This hair-down thing... was it planned as part of Lilly's reaction the George incident and character development? Or was it just KM asking the producers to PLEASE let her hair down so people would quit bothering about it? ;D

I know that Meredith thought the hair-up look fit the character, who is, after all, her creation. I don't know if this season's look represents a victory for KM or an experiment by MS. It is too touchy a subject for me to ask about directly - does that tell you anything? As for Ellen - I don't know anything yet. But look out for the return of Motorcycle Man. -R

Thanks, InsideR. I just hope KM's insatisfaction won't bring forth problems, that's all. She does such a good job otherwise. I sincerely hope MS won't ever feel like booting her. So... Motorcycle Man? Wow, that I was not expecting. And it wasn't mentioned in any of the interviews / TV guide spoilers. Interesting...

do you know if they are going to be doing anything with the george story line? I doubt it, except as a passing reference. It would be hard to bring back George because he is, well, dead. But John Billingsley was so terrific, I'm sure there is temptation... At the point at which George's even more evil twin brother shows up, you'll know the show has jumped the shark. --R

lol!! Too bad though, if they drop the George storyline completely.. I mean, Lilly not referring to it, or if we don't get to see in what ways it's been affecting her..
