Are there any plans to bring back James Hogan from "Sherry Darlin' in a future episode? It was great when he turned up in season 2. And are any other previous guests not working in the department or such returning soon. Oh, and for those who dare not ask but want to, will Kite ever come back?

Good to have you back insideR! Just to add to your growing list of questions-- Are there plans in the works to do another long multi-episode story arc like the whole Lily/Christina thing from Season 2?

But it wouldn't surprise me to see James Hogan again. Kite, I doubt - too complicated in both the real and fictional worlds. No long arcs in the works at present - but I'm sure there will be. -R

Welcome back InsideR! It's so good to see you around the board again. We missed you. I enjoyed reading your responses to this latest batch of questions. I was wondering if writer Andrea Newman had any more upcoming scripts? She has written some excellent episodes this season with "Bad Night" and the most recent "Frank's Best." She has an amazing ability to include all of the characters without making it feel too crowded and her cases are very gripping.

Hello InsideR. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the following if you have any. If not please feel free not to respond.
I guess I don't understand this. They began a show about a lone female detective and have drifted from it with 'drastically written shifts' like that of season two beginning with the Badlands with an urgency to write in the Scotty character. I'm saying this because that is how it comes off on screen to me. I do not dislike Danny Pino as I saw him in the Lucy movie and he was top notch. I'm just relating what I see going on in the series.
Season three we get a "shove it in the face" new full time detective that totally disrupts the continuity and flow of the former season's personal storylines and season three‘s actual cases. It’s just a new person with nothing to offer. Another character sharing lines that were once to be spoken by Lilly or Scotty or Vera or Will. It’s not supposed to work that way. It was obvious when this happened in season two between Lilly, Scotty, Vera and Jeffries and it was obviously forced then. Now it has become rather irritating. Each person should have some kind of expertise and it was used in season one but not since.
As well instead of adding a new full time detective why not utilize some of the already recurring characters on the show instead of adding another full time detective? It doesn't seem like there's anything to bring to the group - no expertise - and more time for Lilly to stand and watch the interrogations. *It all appears to come off that the detectives are now all just trading lines at this point. The show did not feel that way in season one.* This is all my opinion of course.
But I do echo the sentiments of some of the comments above about the importance of the Lilly character to this show. I was very close to deleting this fan board at the onset of Season 2 and we lost 50% of membership including the owner of this board. We, of course, are only a very minute sampling of the viewers but from what I have observed the interest is about Lilly and everyone else falls in place as supporting. Even though we are a United States based fan site we have (had) a large presence of non-US fans such as we do currently multiple members from:
France Finland England Korea Japan Belgium Germany Canada Ireland Sweden Australia Peru Brazil New Zealand Argentina Netherlands Spain Turkey Norway Bulgaria Austria Czech Poland
The one common denominator of the fans that have come and gone (which has been well over 2500 on this board - a very small sampling) has been about Lilly Rush and those connected to her character. We have never had anyone come here wishing that Scotty or Stillman, etc. would take over the show except for the the actor who portrayed the Defunct Detective (2 fans) who really weren’t interested in the show. They were only interested in seeing the one who's name we shall not say.
As well if the show is adding to bring in younger ages what numbers are you looking for. The highest viewed ep so far was A Perfect Day up over 19 million and case heavy with Lilly.
Hope you are enjoying the work break.

I read somewhere else KM and Meredith had strong discussions about the hair...

I don't think KM has ever been satisfied with her hair (or with anything else about herself - which is probably why she is so good at what she does.) I know that Meredith thought the hair-up look fit the character, who is, after all, her creation. I don't know if this season's look represents a victory for KM or an experiment by MS. It is too touchy a subject for me to ask about directly - does that tell you anything? As for Ellen - I don't know anything yet. But look out for the return of Motorcycle Man. -R Thanks InsideR but I need you to clarify where you say Kathryn isn't satified with anything about herself which is why she is so good at what she does. I'm not clear on what you really mean?? I've always thought that Kathryn is really a genuinely nice person and I'd just hate to think otherwise or that she is the kind of person that is never happy with anything.

Wow, Naj, well said! I think I'll echo allmost everything you said about how the "feel" of the show has changed since season one. I'm wondering if it's intentionally done or not..

WOO HOO!!! Motorcycle Man! That's great news! Thanks, InsideR I know this show is about Lilly, but I wanna know about Vera; he's my 2nd fave character. So, is he adopting a child this season? Are we gonna meet his wife?

ICAM with your post Naj. The lack of Lily screen time/story line is something that has been puzzling me as well. I'm also interested in knowing why that is. We were told that Ellen Rush would be on this season but ten episodes in and no mention of her appearance.
Thanks InsideR for providing all of this behind-the-scenes info. Greatly appreciated!

Since I'm a Lilly Rush fan and a KM fan, I'll take a stab and make a remark to InsideR's comment.
I didn't mind Lilly's hair up but it was nice to see it down once in awhile at the length it was in S1 & S2.. Season three Lilly hair is 'too long' and the makeup is too excessively white. The natural look is great for Lilly meaning very scanty on the makeup. In other words the makeup the actor uses on her personal talk show appearances. I prefer her season one look the best in the hair/make up area because Lilly looks great with shorter hair. Having her hair up shows off her face which is not something to hide because she is attractive. I even miss her early work apparel.

Naj, I support everything you've said on your earlier post. Very well done, couldn't have said it better myself (not by a long shot). I'm eager to see what InsideR will respond... though it may be too compromising...

She IS a genuinely nice person. I only meant that she is a perfectionist, primarily about herself and her work. She is modest and self-critical to a fault - hardly a diva by Hollywood standards. It was actually a compliment - because of her dissatisfaction, she is always improving. -R

Hello InsideR. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the following if you have any. ~Naj I didn't quote your post because of its length, but I think you have made many valid points. The one thing I can tell you is that people who work on the show - all the way up to the top - read this fansite. Those 2500 voices carry a lot of weight. So, if you feel strongly about something, talk about it. And write letters. You may not get what you want, but you will be listened to. -R

Example: Lucille Ball as an actress/comedian, she would make sure a stunt or a part she did was satisfactory to her liking and that the audience would see it as being funny. I believe she said it was hard work to be funny.

I remember LB saying something to that effect, Eurache. To be funny is an art as we've discussed elsewhere about other shows . InsideR,Your response to my posts was too kind. So there is something to that idea of fans writing to the show for what they like. That is good to know for those that may read this area. I'm glad to hear that James may be back, possibly. I'd love to know what Lilly was writing to him - what she says to him in a letter. Or if he still calls her at the office and what they talk about.

Is there anything you can tell us as to why the other girl was dropped so quickly? As for that "leverage" thing - I'm really sorry I opened my mouth, er, computer keyboard. For one thing, it is TOTAL speculation (as in it might be completely wrong). So, to be clear, I have heard nothing that would make me think that KM was not going to be with Cold Case until the very last episode - ten or twelve years from now. -R Ten or twelve years from now, InsideR?? Is that speculation or a fact?? And welcome back!! I, too, wondered where you had gone off to. Naj, just wanted to repeat what others said -- loved your long post and agree with what you've said.
