For anyone who isn't up to date: Miss California, or now the former Miss California Carrie Prejean, was fired this week. The runner up, Miss Malibu, has taken her place as Miss California.

smallbarbie: she wasn't removed for the anto-gay comment. sadly The official version is the lost crown CP because she doesn't carry out her duties. All, however, know that she really has lost the crown by her statement about gay marriage. It was painful for many gays and lesbians.

I don't think she lost her title because of her answer about gay marriage, she lost it because she didn't fulfill her duties that come with her title. I do think it's brave to state your opinion especially when it's unpopular, however, I also think that she's a hypocrite. She talks about living by the bible and being Christian but then she does not so Christian things. I'm a Christian and I know I'm far from perfect, so I don't run around pointing out everybody else's flaws when I have too many flaws and imperfections to count. I think if she would've just stated her opinion in a non judgmental way and lived up to her responsibilities in a professional way, as Christians should do, she wouldn't be in this position. She's also giving Christianity a bad name because people think that we're all judgmental and super conservative but we're not.

But she doesn't live by the bible, not totally, nobody does because nobody's perfect. What I'm saying is that she takes a stand on gay marriage being wrong and uses the bible to back up her views which is totally fine. But what about her lifestyle, where's the bible when she's getting a boob job and having racy pics, those could be just tabloid rumors, but if they're true then that makes her a really big hypocrite in my book. In the bible it does talk about homosexuality being sinful and immoral; mainly in the old testament and in the letters from Paul (New Testament). But in Corinthians 10:23 it says "Everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible but not everything is constructive" So in my opinion, and people may disagree, this means that everything is permissible (including being gay), but we all have consequences to face in life for the things that we do, good or bad. Every action in life bears consequence. But another thing it says in the bible "Do not judge or you too will be judged"(Matt. 7:1). So many Christians forget that it isn't our place to judge others because we're going to get judged as well because we're not perfect by any means. Sorry if I'm preachy, I don't know the bible front to back (I wish I did) but some things I do remember ;D

The thing about the Bible is that one can go round and round and round with interpretation. ;D I think Christians, who use the Bible to further a cause or to impose their will is "sinful" in my opinion. Christianity has some good things going for it but it is still a religion that I believe is infused with hate towards others. When we look at history and see how God's name was used to further Christianity (for example - St. Patrick) or for other causes taking out the pagans it is really just a joke to me. The problem with the Bible is that the OT has information there that is talking about more than one God. ;D So there was a god that liked to kill in his name to do things but everyone is led to believe there was One God. And that's part of the problem of understanding why in one book God appeared to be nice and in another had a bad case of PMS. So when Christ(Jesus) came along, he tried to make the message more clear.

Christianity has some good things going for it but it is still a religion that I believe is infused with hate towards others. I agree, it also makes you wonder what they're hiding. Because when they point a finger at others, calling them sinners, maybe they're trying to shift focus away from their own transgressions. I was raised in one particular religion (dominate Utah religion) and then became Born Again Christian five years ago, but I've been exposed to other religions as well. So from what I have seen and experienced all religions have hatred toward others in some ways, but that's not from God, I feel it's from people not understanding things or making up their own rules. Jesus taught about acceptance and love and hope. He hung around with "sinners" making religious leaders upset. So I think that He would want us to accept people for who they are without judgment.
