hey InsideR, thanks for all the great info. I was wondering, have you wrapped this season yet? I know the episodes are filmed in advance of the actual airing, but I don't know how far ahead these are done.

I was wondering, have you wrapped this season yet? I know the episodes are filmed in advance of the actual airing, but I don't know how far ahead these are done. We wrap production around April 15, post production sometime in May. Right now we are shooting "Best Friends" by Liz Garcia, directed by Mark Pellington. It takes place in 1932, the furthest back Cold Case so far. In post are "Kensington" about displaced workers in hard times, "Creatures of the Night" which takes place around a showing of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (and will have songs from the aforesaid). Yet to come is "The Woods", marking the return of George. (Veeeery creepy.) This Sunday is the powerful "Strange Fruit" by Veena Sud. It's 1963 and Martin Luther King is marching on Washington. Not everyone is happy about the changes that are happening...This was moved from Easter because of its graphic and disturbing scenes - but it's really worth seeing. -R

Hi InsideR, Do you know if it will be a 3rd season of CC? Thanks! Unless something really bizarre happens, you can count on a 3rd season. What you can't count on is a DVD of seasons 1 & 2. It seems that the songs cost too much to license for the DVD release, so for now there are no DVD plans. -R

Would it be possible for you to type out a sound track for each season, even if DVD plans aren't in the works right now? I'd love to know about all the great music they use on there. ;D

Hi InsideR,
I'm not sure if this was already asked. But do you think (or can you say) Season 3 might have a high profile case on the order of Jon Benet Ramsey as we had for the series pilot?

But in general, CC doesn't try to find cases "ripped from the headlines" a la Law and Order. Often a real case will be the inspiration for an episode, but there is really only one important question: does it make a compelling story?

InsideR, do the Cold Case people have to pay rights for using cases similar to the real thing? For example if they were to do the Jon Benet Ramsey story, would they have to come to some sort of arrangement with the Ramseys--even if they change the names? You can usually tell it's based on a certain case, if it was an important one.
EDIT: Sorry, InsideR. I have another question and this one's more urgent, I think. There seems to be a lot of apprehension going around about Scotty being written out of the show, what with his drinking habits and this new detective coming in. Do you know if there are any plans of this?

There seems to be a lot of apprehension going around about Scotty being written out of the show, what with his drinking habits and this new detective coming in. Do you know if there are any plans of this? The answer to the first part is that they avoid having to pay people by fictionalizing enough important details that it no longer closely sesembles the real thing. But as I said before, this is much more of a Law & Order problem than a Cold Case one. As far as I know, Danny Pino's position is secure, although Scotty may go to hell and back. There is a story arc for Scotty that got messed up by the schedule change (because the network didn't want to air Strange Fruit on Easter). He pretty much hits bottom in Strange Fruit. Ravaged was supposed to be him getting his act together, but at least one key moment was cut I think because of the show order change. (In the bit that was cut he is offered a drink by the bar owner and, instead, turns his shot glass over.) -R

I wish they hadn't cut that scene. I think it would have helped a lot of viewers who felt Scotty was beyond help at this point.

Thanks so much, InsideR. I think it's just awful people get to benefit from their own personal tragedies--but I guess everyone does what they can to get ahead.
I'm glad DP's position is secure.

We are very excited about the season finale, "The Woods." We are glad to see Geroge back and look forward to his scenes with Lilly. I was just wondering who is the writer of that episode? Is it Veena Sud, who penned "Mind Hunters?"

Can we ever expect the pilot Look Again to reair. It's only reaired once so far. I know there are many fans who have expressed interest in that ep.

I noticed something "peculiar" with Olivia (the orange cat) in ep. 2.20, "Kensington." Yes, I noticed that as well when I saw the ep, irishkale, and I was just about to pose a question about that on the "Kensington" episode thread. Yup, different kitty. Hopefully, nothing happened to the cat who previously "played" Olivia. Also, I wonder if the "new" Olivia is really a girl this time.
