I have to admit, I don't see how the case could be made by the DA the way the gun was taken.
I do wonder what Stillman thinks of his detectives, especially Lilly and Scotty.
EDIT: Do you suppose he's disappointed in them?
He said something about not having anymore favors with upstairs, what did that mean?

A little bit more from me on this episode:
1. I love the interplay between Scotty and Lilly. Especially the scene in the car where Scotty tells her that Christina came to her and told her what was wrong and that she needed help. That whole few minutes there was superbly acted, IMO. It reminded why I love those two as partners and that I hope we see more of it in a Season 8.
2. The scene when Kat and Vera are going to get Doherty's gun and Kat flirts with the janitor to get him away from the office so Vera can get in there. "You look toned." That was hilarious.
3. Will in this episode was amazing. He wanted justice for that girl and was going to stop at nothing to find out who killed her and why, even if it meant "forced retirement" as Vera put it. They say every cop/detective has that one case that eats away at them for their entire careers and this was one of those cases for him.
Overall, a FANTASTIC end to the season and I hope, the beginning of some new story lines for a next season.

He said something about not having anymore favors with upstairs, what did that mean? "Upstairs" in this case probably meant the higher-ups in the department.

Because I 'm still here and I just watched the finale... ;D To speak the truth if this was finally the series' finale I'd rather something more like the 6th season's finale to be the end... Anyway... The case wasn't so strong but it put this hated cop at his place... However I should say that I felt really sorry for the guy. As for Scotty... I just don't know... I'm not for what he did but I do understand... Come on, justice isn't enough too often. And we don't speak about a murderer, who may not commit the crime again. A rapist would do the same thing the moment he leaves the prison and he doesn't just kill, he destroys lives! But as we see the moment he stops Lil he is not good with what he did. That's why he stops Lil. He knows that there is no good thing out of an extreme action like this.(And we finally saw a usage of Saccardo's gun because we really thought that they had forget it! OK, the line "It was a gift" was funny! Others give flowers and jewellery but her boyfriend did give her unregistered guns...!) And now for Lilly... The "family thing" in this series didn't stop with neither the mother, the father nor the sister! They did invent a NIECE! hehe!! Anyway! ;D This thing with the baby was kinda cute. Maybe Lil didn't find a man throughout the series but finally she did find a kid from her same blood. A meaning and a hope for the future! Lil for one more time showed that she cares for her family and for the others even if itsn't obvious to to the others. "Go ahead and forget us..." She looked extremely shaken from this remark and she thanked Scotty too many times after that... There were strong L/S moments that they really reminded us of this chemistry between Kathryn and Pino that it had subsided during the years and of this suspicion that maybe there is something really solid between them. And the fight? This phrase "You lied to my face!" with the same tone of accusation? It brought us many years ago!! Lil never got over this... But this time? Scotty didn't leave her behind. He may answered with the same tone but he did stay. And the best moment of the episode? The last scene! The car passing by the beach going back to Philly bringing back something better for all... And GREAT song used at the end, too! "And it's sure been a COLD, COLD winter"... So let's wish... "It sure been a hard, hard winter My feet been draggin' 'cross the ground AND I HOPE IT'S GONNA BE A LONG, HOT SUMMER AND THE LIGHT OF LOVE WILL BE BURNIN' BRIGHT..." And wish for a COLD Case September!!

"Upstairs" in this case probably meant the higher-ups in the department. But did that mean the higher-ups didn't like him or didn't want him as lieutenant? No, it meant he had no more chips to cash in to explain away what Will, Kat and Vera were doing. When Stillman told him that he better have all his ducks in a row because he had no more favors upstairs, it meant he couldn't get him out of this if he got in trouble.

Yes, Lilly did get her gun back.
EDIT: Speaking of explanations, Lilly and Scotty will have lots to explain to Stillman when he finds out. And you all know he always finds out.

Nobody else notice it didn't match. They always said Wanda was missing and how Jeffries dare to say that her body was dumped and how they did ballistic report if there was no body?

I really liked shattered compared to almost paradise. I don't feel like the ending feels like a series finale. I felt there should be more. I have to say I love the L/S moments especially the part when Christina says to Scotty that he is the only one that really knows Lilly. I'm kind of curious how does Scotty know about the job offer and who is Hector Cruz?

I'm kind of curious how does Scotty know about the job offer and who is Hector Cruz? Hector Cruz is the guy that grew up with Scotty in Francisville (the neighborhood they're from). As for how Scotty found out about the job offer, you need some suspension of disbelief. In the Cold Case universe, you have to believe that at some point Lilly said something or it was mentioned by someone else, that the Feds offered her a position on their cold squad.

Wasn't Scotty offered also? I think maybe Scotty figured that Lilly would be asked as well.

^ I thought only Lilly was offered. I mean the FBI never really communicated with the rest of the team, well I don't think so at least.
I think I may need to rewatch the two episodes again. Hmm

Hmm I seem to remember Yates suggesting to Scotty that they would like him with the FBI but I think he turned it down.

loved the season finale though I had to watch the clips online since I had work that night, but I have a feeling season 8 might happen. I really hope it does! I think it was both lilly and scotty that was offered the job with the FBI if I'm correct and Scotty turned it down. With Lilly I dont remember

Hmm Yate's only suggested to Scotty that he should apply for the FBI. With Lilly should was actually offered a position. She even had an application on the desk she was using at the time. I had the same theory that the FBI never communicated with the rest of the team, and Lilly doesn't seem like the kind of person to brag.

I know the episode ran on Sunday and this is Thursday, but I had to re-watch it about 3 times to just digest all of what happened and this is all I came up with:
WOW! This was awesome. I loved it from start to finish. My first thoughts when she was knocked out was why do they always have to do something to her in the finale? Poor Lil, she gets shot, run off a bridge, and now knocked in the head. Then the story played out, loved it loved it loved it!
I thought when Lil said to Scotty, "You lied to my face" oh here we go again. She said the same thing to him in "Wishing", but this time it was not who could one up who, it seems like they have matured as partners and was able to talk this one out a whole lot better than 5 seasons ago.
The closing scenes had me in tears, all I thought was, I need another season, I mean come on who doesn't want to see Lilly as an aunt, Scotty deal with the possible consequences from his actions, Stillman possibly getting promoted, Kat explore the possibility of reuniting with Bell, Jefferies retiring, Vera exploring the relationship with his former high school sweetheart, & most of all Lilly becoming the Lt. I mean that would be awesome!
I loved the part where she was pistol whipping her sister's abusive boyfriend. I was yelling get him Lilly! ;D

This episode also confirmed something for me, and it's that Lilly can be a little too trigger happy at times. In the season 5 episode 'The Road' she nearly shot John Doe; and in Shattered, she was about to shoot her sister's abusive boyfriend. What stopped her? Scotty did. I just have a gut feeling that if Scotty hadn't been there, Lilly would have killed that guy.
So once again, we (or at least I) learn something about this character during the season finale. Last season; learned that she holds things inside, and sometimes it takes a little car bumping to get them out. This season finale; learned that while she may hold a grudge against members of her family, she will not tolerate anyone else hurting them, and she will attack.
