Over next couple of days Lilly didn't call Scotty, she was to embarrassed, besides Isabella was keeping her busy. She bumped into him in family court after the first meeting with the judge over Isabella's custody. She still felt akward, trying not to make eye contact.
"I heard everything went ok" Scotty broke the silence
"Yeah. Looks like I'll have the custody, Patrick just visitation rights" she looked around nervously
"Great to hear that, Lil'. You should go out and celebrate." he smiled
"I don't know about that. Last time it..."she didn't know what to say to Scotty
"I regret telling you." he walked away
Later that day after putting her niece to sleep Lilly sat on the bed and grabbed the phone
"Valens" said voice on the other end
"I don't want to marry you, not now at least" Lilly started slowly
"Lil'?"
"I got to take care of my niece now and life's getting complicated but I think I want to try dating, being close to you, see how it's going to-" she said almost on one breath when he interrupted her
"How about dinner tomorrow? I'll pick you up at 7?"
"ok" Lil' said after few moments of silence and hung up the phone
'What am I doing?' she asked herself while laying down on the bed 'and what should I ware?' she got up and opened the closet
The next few weeks went on and on. The two went back and forth like a game. It was hard for Lilly, especially having Isabella to deal with. Lilly was walking around the area with Isabella in her pram.
Lilly jumped when she felt a cool hand grab her arm. She sighed, realising it was only Scotty.
"F*** Scotty, you scared me."
"Lillian Rush. That's not good language to use around the baby." Scotty teased.
Lilly started walking again, Scotty running to catch up.
"So is this how you spend your Friday evening?" Scotty asked.
"Is this how you spent yours? Following woman with babies?"
Scotty jumped in front of the pram, making Lilly pull back, not wanting to hurt the Isabella.
"Scotty you're pissing me off."
"Can't I visit my girlfriend?"
Lilly stopped dead in her track. She went white as a ghost, and Scotty realised he had let 'girlfriend' slip out by accident.
"Girlfriend?" Lilly whispered.
"Well uh...like...you get the picture."
"No...I don't."
"Look Lil. Thing between us have been different lately. I don't know if I'm taking it the wrong but I sure as hell know we have something."
Lilly looked down at her Isabella. She didn't want to risk pushing herself off track especially with her prioritys for the baby.
"I have things that come first." Lilly whispered.
"I know that. But it doesn't mean we can't try."
Scotty walked over to her side and gently rubbed her cheek. "We'll take it slow."
Finally Lilly gave up. "Alright."

"I have things that come first." Lilly whispered.
"I know that. But it doesn't mean we can't try."
Scotty walked over to her side and gently rubbed her cheek. "We'll take it slow."
Finally Lilly gave up. "Alright."
“Go home, Lil’” Stillman, putting on his coat, approached Lilly’s desk “You have a kid now. Can’t spend all your time here”
She looked up from the files “It’s fine. My dad took her for a weekend. Tries to compensate for, uh…you know. Beside I think he enjoys being a grandpa”
“Finally has someone to spoil” Stillman chuckled
“Yeah, guess so” she looked down at the files
Boss put a hand on her shoulder “Then use the opportunity to get some rest”
“I’ll see you Monday, Lil’, Scotty.” he added heading for the door
“See you, Boss” Lilly and Scotty responded simultaneously
Scotty sat by Lilly’s desk when they were finally alone “Thought you’re gonna call me or something”
“Been busy” she replied while writing a report
“Yeah, that’s cool. So, listen….uh, since Isabella’s at your fathers’…you wanna go grab late dinner? Drinks maybe?”
“Have to finish a report” still focused on files
Scotty got up, got her coat “You have to use your night off. It doesn’t happen often” and he dropped the coat on Lilly’s desk
She sighed “I AM a bit hungry”
“See. Then let’s go”
After the dinner and couple of drinks Scotty walked Lilly to her home. They stood outside of her door in silence.
“How about me coming in?” Scotty was first to talk
“You said we’ll take it slow” she raised her eyebrows
“Well, Lil’, any slower and we’ll be going backwards” he chuckled
“I just…I was never good at social life…” she turned away from Scotty “all those personal talks…secrets”
He put his hands around her and whispered in her ear “Good thing I know a lot about you already. So…? You’ll let me in?”

Scotty lent down and nibbled on her ears. Lilly took this time to remove his shirt and t-shirt underneath. She gasped as she saw the ripples in his chest.

He let a heavy sigh out “You can’t scare me like that, sweetie”
“Sweetie?” Kat was stunned hearing what Scotty called Lilly; Lil’ closed the curtain when she saw Kat
“Great move, Valens. I told you I want to keep what’s between us quiet.” She lashed out at him “Now they know. And with department’s policy – Boss will not be happy”
“I’ll talk to him. I’m just glad you’re ok” he wanted to hug her to calm her down but she repelled him and walked out
Next few days at work, Lilly tried to avoid Scotty as much as she could. News got around quickly and Nick was already taking bets on when they’ll reconcile when Stillman called him in the office.
“I do not support what you’re doing” John started seriously
“Boss?”
“Taking too much interest at personal lives of fellow detectives. Shouldn’t do that”
“Sure, Boss. It will not happen again” Nick was ready to get out form the office
“And…put me down for next Friday”
Nick smiled hearing that “Sure thing”

For weeks and weeks the two partners went on fighting like cats and dogs. Not once did they have anything nice to say to eachother.
Fighting with Scotty didn't stop making Lilly really tense both at work and at home. Adding to the stress level, Isabella was now 6 months old and started teething causing Lilly to have sleepless nights. Lilly decided to talk to Stillman about the solution to at least one of the problems. When she stepped out from his office her cell phone rang.
"Rush. Dad? What's wrong?" she seemed concerned "I'll meet you at the hospital" she hung up and told Stillman she needs to leave early
When Lilly left John called Scotty to his office
"For few weeks you'll be working alone until a new detective will be transfered to homicide"
"I don't understand, Boss"
"Rush just resigned from police force. She'll work until the end of the month" Stillman was saddened, clearly not happy with how things turned out; Scotty stood in his office equally saddened and shocked
Few hours later Lilly was sitting in the pediatric ward with her face hidden in her hands. She was tired yet nervous. Her dad was sitting by her when he saw Scotty approaching them. He got up and stopped Scotty before Lilly saw him.
"It would be best if you leave" Paul seemed very protective of Lil'
"I need to talk to her" Scotty tried to get pass Cooper but older man grabbed his arm
"Now is not the best time. Isabella has pneumonia and fever doesn't seem to go down; on top of that she has ear infection. Lilly doesn't need you to add to her problems. Besides you gave her enough problems already" Paul said in firm tone of voice
"She told you about that...us I mean?" Paul nodded "I know how much her work means to her so can you just tell her that I'll be the one to transfer out"
"I'll try talking to her, but she's very stubborn woman..."
"Yeah. I know." Scotty chuckled "Alright. Thanks."
Paul returned to Lilly and put his arm around her to comfort her

After Paul had revealed the news to Lilly, she ran out of the hospital leaving him there by him self. Lilly ran out to the carpark and saw Scotty getting into his car in the distance.
Lilly yelled "Scotty," hoping he would hear. Thankfully he turned and saw Lilly saturated by the rain. She ran towards him, almost collapsing as she reached him.
"Please, don't leave."
"Lil, I'd rather go."
"No," she cried. "Stay and I will too."
Scotty looked into her eyes, reached down and kissed her cheek. "It's better if I go."
"I don't want you to go! I need you."

"Did you call your dad? How's Isa?" he asked as soon as he saw her
"She's doing better" Lilly chuckled "That's what I love about you, Valens. Underneath the macho image you're a very caring person"
"Just don't tell that to the squad" he muttered little embarrassed
"They know that...since you called me sweetie" they both laughed
Lilly sat down on the opposite end of the couch unsure what the current situation was between them
"I'll do my best to change...Not be so stubborn" she whispered
Scotty leaned over and kissed her "Nah, you won't. I kinda like that about you. You have to understand, I got scared. I can't loose you. You can't be mad at me for it"
"I not used to guy who would act like that...care so much" she muttered
"Oh, Lil', you better get used to it. I will always care about you...and the kids"
"Kids?" she looked at him surprised
"Kid" he corrected himself and leaned back
"You said 'kids'" she teased him

"You always wanted a big family didn't you?"
Scotty closed his eyes. "Kinda runs in the family. Except for my parents, they are the only ones who had less than 5 kids. All my uncles and that had like 7 kids."
"Well we are never having that many." Lilly said clearly.
"So were gonna have kids?"
"Oh well...like...you know."
Scotty lent over and wrapped his arms arond the thin blonde. "Doesn't really matter how many we have. As long as I've got you."
Lilly chuckled as she looked up at him. "We've barley been together for that long and he we are talking about our kids."
The next morning Lilly awoke to Scotty on the phone. She heard him talking quietly. "I know but Lil can't know. She'd kill me," he paused, sighed than continued. "Were still working on our relationship, if she finds out I'm doing it behind her back...she'll hate m," he paused again. than whispered. "Let's keep it a secret for a little while longer, let everyone know later okay."
His pause was even longer. "Alright, bye love you."
As Scotty hung up, Lilly closed her eyes pretending to be asleep. Whatever that phone call was about scared Lilly. She didn't know who was on the other end, but she knew whoever it was, she wasn't going to let them steal Scotty away from her. Lilly was positive Scotty was seeing another woman. Little did she know, she was completely wrong.

Lilly followed Scotty to find out who it was. glancing at every turn, she saw smeone meet up with someone. a women. Lilly ran out
SCOTTY, HOW COULD YOU? Lilly screamed.
Scotty turned to his girlfriend and saw tears rolling down her face. Lilly started to run but Scotty grabbed her arm. "Lil it's not what it looks like."
"Sure. You know what Scotty, you're a coomplete asshole just like everyone else."
Lilly tried to run again but Scotty held tighter. The woman had left and the two were alone. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a velvet box.
"It's not what it looks like."
Lilly stopped squirming and looked at the box. "She was helping me plan it. We were going to have a get together where I would propose."
"But what about the phone call, you said you loved her."
"Lil...she's my cousin."
Lilly couldn't help but smile at her insecurity's. She watched as Scotty opened the box and got onto one knee.
"I know our relationship is still early. But I love you. Lilly Rush, will you marry me?"

Lilly looked at him. she made a complete idiot out of herself, but he still loved her. she smiled
"Yes" she said.
Scotty smiled back and stood up. when he put the ring on, she jumped into his arms and kissed him as he turned her

Lilly laughed as he put her down. "You didn't cheat on me?"
"Never."
"Oh poo poo. We have to go and get Bella."
Scotty put her back down. As the two walked back inside Lilly laughed at being so dumb. She loved the feeling of the big pendant on her finger. However she didn't know if this would work out of be a complete disaster.

Lilly laughed as he put her down. "You didn't cheat on me?"
"Never."
"Oh poo poo. We have to go and get Bella."
Scotty put her back down. As the two walked back inside Lilly laughed at being so dumb. She loved the feeling of the big pendant on her finger. However she didn't know if this would work out of be a complete disaster.
Since they got engaged Scotty moved in with Lilly. It’s been three months now and Lilly was growing frustrated with a different side of Scotty she never knew before.
Scotty was in the kitchen preparing breakfast while Lilly was getting dressed
“I told you many times to clean up the bathroom sink after you’re done shaving” she yelled to him from upstairs “and don’t leave dirty socks on the floor”
Minutes later she was walking down the stairs when she stopped dead in her tracks seeing the mess he left in the kitchen; Scotty was playing with Bella in the living room when he was anger on Lilly’s face “I’ll clean it up. Just later”
Lilly went to the kitchen and with agitation started cleaning up. Scotty picked up Bella, put her in playpen and went to the kitchen.
“Come on, Lil’. It’s Sunday.” he wrapped his hand around her and kissed her gently on the neck “Mess can wait.”
“It’s getting impossible to live with you” she shaken his hand off her “And how hard it is to put everything in the dishwasher after you’re done cooking?” she raised her voice
“You should be glad someone is cooking in this house. Otherwise you and Bella would probably starve” Scotty chuckled trying to relax the situation but he only got more on her nerves
“We were eating fine before you got here, thank you.” she turned to him
“Well then, maybe you don’t need me” he teased
“Maybe we don’t” she looked dead serious
“Lil’?” he looked into her eyes worried “why are you so emotional lately?”

Since they got engaged Scotty moved in with Lilly. It’s been three months now and Lilly was growing frustrated with a different side of Scotty she never knew before.

"To feed Isabella."
"I already fed her." Scotty grumbled, reaching Lilly and spinning her around.

Lilly stood up and ran her hands through her hair. She kept whispering 'No' over and over again. Scotty was puzzled, trying to figure out how this was a bad thing.
The day went on with LIlly lying in bed not talking to anyone. Scotty took Isabella out leaving Lilly alone to think by herself. All Scotty knew was Lilly was not going to push him out of his childs life, not matter how hard things got.
When Scotty returned, Lilly was sitting on the couch. Scotty put Bella to sleep and sat down next to Lilly.
"You think it over?" he asked.
"Yes."
"And..."
"I want to have an abortion."

"Bella is not ours. I didn't want her. She just showed up in my life and I didn't have any control over that"
Scotty turned Lilly around and gently kissed her "But without her we would probably not be together. See how much joy she brought into your life? Our life!" he smiled "And now she will have a little brother or sister that will bring even more happiness into our life"
"You mean she'll have a cousin"
"She'll think of them as siblings" Scotty hugged Lilly close "And I promise to clean up after I'm done cooking" Lilly chuckled knowing that will never happen

Lilly lent forward and kissed him. "Now make me something to eat. The cravings are starting already.

As Scotty stated to cook up something for his finace Lilly went through the thoughts in her mind. She wasn't going to marry him just because of their unborn child. However something insdie of her wanted to marry Scotty. She wanted to feel his love, knowing nobody could take it away from her.
Her thoughts were interupted when Scotty entered the room. "Should I make Isa anything?" he asked.
"Uh...nah, she needs to sleep."
"Put on a movie." Scotty said. "I want have a romantic night tonight."
Both of them agreed not to tell anyone about pregnancy. During the following week Lilly was puking a lot but managed not to get herself any attention from fellow detectives. On Saturday Lilly and Scotty together with Bella went to ob/gyn to do first ultrasound.
"It's your first pregnancy, Lilly?" doctor asked when they came into the office
"Yes. Isabella's...adopted"
"Do you have any questions about pregnancy then? Before we do ultrasound." After doctor answered few of Lilly's questions he instructed her to lie down. He put a gel on her belly and turn the monitor on.
"Ready to see your baby?" he asked Lil and Scotty as the both nodded
"Well, now. That's a surprise" doctor was closely looking at the monitor
Scotty took Lilly's hand as he saw she got little scared, the both looked at the doctor
"Looks like you're having twins" doctor smiled and looked at parents-to-be but Lilly already fainted
