When Lilly awoke, the baby had been placed back in her crib. Lilly went to the bathroom to refresh herself. Once done, she decided to go home for some rest.
As Lilly lay in bed, tears running down her face, she heard a knock at her door. Pushing away the tears Lilly went to the door. She opened it to see Scotty there.
"How're you?" he asked, seeing the tears that stained her cheeks.
"Alright...kinda wish I had more time to figure this out."
Scotty entered her lounge, taking a seat on her couch. "What are you gonna do?"
"I guess I have to look after her. "
"You'll be a good mum Lil." Scotty whispered, gently rubbing her shoulder.
"No Scotty, I won't. I'll be just like my mum, try and look after her but ruin everythng." Lilly ran her hand through her hair.
"Lil, your mum tried her best. You'll be different. You have me."
Lilly looked up at Scotty and smiled weakly. She let her head fall to his chest, snuggling closer to him.

When they heard knocking on the door, Scotty got up letting Lilly rest on the couch.
"Boss?" Scotty was surprised to see Stillman at the door "Come one in"
"How is she doing?" Stillman lowered his voice asking Scotty
"I'm alright, boss" Lilly got up hearing Stillman's question but she was swaying on her legs
"Yeah, I see that." Stillman walked up to Lilly "You need some serious rest, Lil'" She sat down on the couch again, Stillman across from her in a chair.
"I got in touch with your father, he'll take care of the funeral arrangements. Talked to the doctor, your niece is healthy and you'll be able to take her home tomorrow." Stillman hoped that info will make Lilly smile but it didn't, she sat there as if she was mentally absent from the room "And if you need, nurses will show you basic infant care" Stillman continued.
When Lilly heard that it reminded her of how she, as a kid, had to take care of Christina since her mom wasn't around; Lilly's eyes weld up in tears.
"You'll take few weeks off. More if you'll need it" Stillman got up and headed for the door "It won't be easy, Lil', but we will be here to help you" he added before exiting the house.
By the time Scotty came from the kitchen with the tea Lilly was asleep on the couch. He covered her with the blanket, sat down in a chair and drifted off to sleep.

Lilly opened one eye and took a look at Scotty, asleep on the chair. "Finally!", she said to herself. She got off the couch, went to the dining room, and picked up the box that was sitting there. Relieved, Lilly thought to herself, "I'm glad neither of them noticed this here!"

As she lifted the lid, she looked inside. It was full of baby clothes and toys. Since she was 20 she collected anything that would help her for when she had her own child.
Whilst looking through the box she heard a voice behind her.
"What;s that?" She turned around to see Scotty standing behind her looking puzzled.
"Its uh...."

Years back, when I was engaged, I planned happy life, you know...with husband and kids...dinners, PTA meetings, being a soccer mom, all that." she smiled a little. Scotty sat down next to her and put his hand on her shoulder. "But life is unpredictable..." she added
"'Bout dinners...you know how to cook? 'Coz you'll have to for the baby" Scotty asked her, Lilly's faced turned worried, "Yeah, I figured. I'm not great, but I can teach you some" Scotty hugged and kised her on the forehead "Now go get some sleep. It might be your last good night sleep for a long time, you know. Tomorrow, you're bringing a newborn home." Scotty smiled while Lil' looked concerned with her situation. Scotty grabbed the box and helped carry it upstairs.

She giggled, turning around. Scotty gently placed his hands on her hips, placing his head in the crook of her neck. "Night Lil." he whispered.

As Lilly lay down on the bed, Scotty made his way out of the room. "Wait." he heard Lilly softly whisper.

Lilly's hair was a mess, she was wearing sweatpants and t-shirt that had stains from baby's puke. Lil' went to open the door when she heard knocking.
"Lil?" Paul almost didn't recognise his daughter when he saw her "I got worried. You don't call, you don't pick up your phone" he followed Lilly to the kitchen
"I can't get her to stop. I bathed her, fed her, diaper's clean, she doesn't have a fever. She's still crying, I don't know what to do" she responded with weary voice
"Let me take her" Cooper took the baby in his arms and started softly singing a lullaby, newborn stopped crying and slowly fell asleep
"Remember that lullaby?" he asked Lilly, she shook her head no "I sang it to you when you were little and couldn't sleep" Paul continued to rock the baby in his arms "So, what's her name?" he looked at Lil'
"I haven't decide on it yet." she hesitated
"Well, Baby Rush is cute...but I think they're gonna tease her in school for it" they both smiled
"Anyway" Paul continued "your going out tonight, figured you need a night off" Lilly looked at him shocked "Your partner, uh, Scotty? He'll pick you up in two hours. Now go change."
Lilly, with disbelief, headed upstairs to get ready for a night on a town.

"Hey." He mumbled weakly.
"Uh..I need to ask something." Lilly whispered, feeling weird. "Is this like a date or friendly dinner?"
Scotty shifted uncomfortablly. "Date."
"Did you tell my dad that?"
Scotty looked into her eyes. "Yes."
"..." Silence over-took them, a weak vibe filling the air.
"Let's go." Lilly announced, feeling kind of hurt he didn't comment on her appearance.

While in the restroom checking her make-up Lilly heard her cell phone beep. She got it out from the purse and opened the new text message, it was from Scotty "BTW You look absolutelly stunning tonight!" It made her smile. For the rest of the date they both were more relaxed.
After the dinner Scotty walked Lilly home. While they stood in front of Lilly's house silence arose, with nervousness taking both of them over.
Scotty slowly moved closer to Lilly putting his hands around her waist and kissing her gently on the lips. He took a step back "I...uhmm..I'll see you later then" he turned and walked away while Lilly stood there confused and disapointed with his action. She got inside her apartment, her disapointment turned into slight anger, she got her phone out and send Scotty a text message reading "What the hell?" Minutes later she heard knocking on the door, but when she opened them to her surprise there was no one there just a single red rose laid on the stoop...

Minutes later she heard knocking on the door, but when she opened them to her surprise there was no one there just a single red rose laid on the stoop...

"Chris..Me..The hospital told me you have the baby."
"How did you know Chris was pregnant?"
"News travels fast."
Lilly looked around, feeling a little bit weasy.
"Can I come in?" Patrick asked.
Lilly sighed. "Quickly."

Once the two had got comfortable the conversation got going.
"You have to let me see the baby." Patrick said clearly.
"I know. But it doesn't mean anything happens between us."
"Lil...I know you still love, you always will."
Lilly stood up. "No Patrick! You broke my heart, how can you expect me to love you after you left me like that."
"You can't help what you feel Lil."
"I know what I feel Patrick. And It's nothing for you!"
Lilly stormed to the door, opening it and waiting for Patrick to leave. As he walked out the door he turned. Before he could speak Lilly slammed the door in his face.

"He came by yesterday" Lilly got up and walked toward Paul
"Who?"
"Her father" Lilly took the baby from her dad's arms and sat back down on the couch placing her niece on her chest "Me and him...we have a history and I don't want to see him again, but..." Lilly looked down at her niece sleeping gentlry kissing her on the head
"But you don't want the baby to be raised without the father" finnished her sentence Cooper; Lil' nooded
"What may seem as a right choice now may turn out to be the worst mistake you'll ever make" Paul sat down next to Lilly "You know it all to well yourself" Lilly nodded again placing her head on her father's shoulder

"Come in" Lilly, with poker face, waved Patrick inside "She's upstairs. Sleeping" she added in cold tone of voice.
"Thanks for letting me see her so soon"
Patrick was looking around while he followed Lil' upstairs to baby's bedroom "You've made a nice life for youself. Don't see a man in a picture, though" Lil' shot him a look when he commented
They stood by the crib watching the baby sleep, Lilly with arms crossed.
"She looks like me" Patrick bend over closer to the baby
"I don't see it" she responded harshly
Patrick stood up straight and moved closer to Lilly making her uncomfortable, but she wasn't about to show it.
"We had something good going on, you know. We should get back together. Chris and me situation - you just overreacted. But it's ok, I can forgive you." Patrick showed his cocky attitude. Lilly looked at him, couldn't believe he had an audacity to say it to her face. Patrick suddenly moved even closer and kissed Lilly which made her slap him hard across the face.
"Get out!" she whispered loudly trying not to wake up the baby
"In that case you leave me no choice Lilly" he moved his jaw around to ease the pain "I'll be filing for sole custody." he stormed out from the house. Loud door slam woke up the newborn; Lilly with tears in her eyes picked her niece up and cuddled her.

Haha, I totally forgot. NOT Christina, I hate her. Can you put some name like Daniella or Bella when Scotty comes over, they could be talking about it and it comes up

Before Lilly could say thank you the phone went dead. As Lilly sat up, the baby cried harder. Lilly felt the need to sleep, but knew the baby was her first priority. Taking care of the baby wqas too hard for her, she was finally willing to let someone help her.

While waiting for Scotty, Lilly prepared the formula and sat down in the rocking chair to feed her niece. She looked up when she heard faint knocking on the bedroom door
"Hey Scotty" she barely kept her eyes open
"Door was unlocked, so-" he noticed her tiredness as she closed her eyes and drifted to sleep
Scotty picked up the infant "We'll let your aunt sleep now", with one hand he did his best to cover Lilly with the blanket and left the room.

Lilly woke up realizing she took a longer nap. She eyed the room looking for her niece but the crib was empty. While walking downstairs she noticed Scotty cooking dinner, her niece in the baby rocker placed on the table. She stopped and observed him when she heard Scotty speaking spanish to the baby. Not knowing what he was saying, she only made out one word Scotty was repeating more than others.
"Isa?" Lilly walked from behind Scotty checking what he's preparing.
"Yeah, Isabella" he chukled "Just felt the need to call her something other than, you know...'baby'"
"Isabella" Lilly picked her niece up and smiled "I like it. And I think she likes it too"
"Oh, I called Bell." Scotty changed the subject "He gave me a number to really good adoption lawyer"

While waiting for Scotty, Lilly prepared the formula and sat down in the rocking chair to feed her niece. She looked up when she heard faint knocking on the bedroom door

"Yeah, Isabella" he chukled "Just felt the need to call her something other than, you know...'baby'"
"Isabella" Lilly picked her niece up and smiled "I like it. And I think she likes it too"
"Oh, I called Bell." Scotty changed the subject "He gave me a number to really good adoption lawyer"

"Thanks." Lilly reached for the baby, Scotty gently sliding it into her arms.
"You know...You look like you were made for this."
Lilly chuckled, looking at him. "Yeah, that's why I need help."
"But Lil, look how much love you have for the baby. That will help you in court."
Lilly smiled, rocking the baby back and forth. "I want this Scotty. It makes me happy."
Scotty snuggled up to her, kissing her neck. "You're a perfect mother."
Lilly lent back into his touch, feeling comforted by his words. "I was hoping you would come stay for a while." Lilly whispered.
"Need help?"
"Yeah."

The next day Lilly awoke. She heard a loud banging at her door. She rolled over to see Scotty fast asleep. As she wrapped the blankets around her she walked to the door. As she opened it she saw Patrick there.
"God! What do you want?" Lilly groaned, running her hands through her hair.
"Thought we should sort this out, before it gets too personal."
"Patrick, she's mine. Fight all you want, I'm not giving up."
Patrick stopped dead in his tracks when Scotty stood at the doorm, shirtless and holding the Isabella.

"Oh I get it" anger grew on Patrick's face "You want to play family, just not with me. Well, I'm not gonna let that happen. She's my kid, my blood"
Scotty noticed tears slowly pour down Lilly's cheeks, he handed Isabella to Lilly and stepped between Patrick and Lil' as if he wanted to protect her from his words.
"You have no rights to her! She's my @#@#in' blood, you hear me!" Patrick started yelling at Lilly over Scotty's shoulder "Court will agree with that!"
"Hey, bozo!" Scotty tried to contain his anger "You think that after what you did to Chris court will give you custody? They don't give parental rights to rapists!"
"Oh, Lil' got herself a real hero, huh? Let me tell you something, as*hole!" Patrick started poking Scotty on the chest "Chris was too drunk to know what happened to her that night. She was a mental screwup. And I can proof Lilly is a mental screwup too!"
Hearing that Scotty couldn't control his anger any more; "Scotty, no!" he heard Lilly cry out but it was too late, he already hit Patrick with the closed fist making him fall from the scoop and land face-flat on the sidewalk.
"Why did you do that?" Lilly moved pass Scotty to see if Patrick is ok, but Pat already got up and was walking away.
"Now he has more ammo against me in court" Lilly, hugging Isabella close, headed upstairs when Scotty grabbed her arm
"What you wanted me to do?" he demanded answer
"I don't...I don't know, Scotty" she said through tears "But now I want you to leave!"

Lilly walked up to her room, trembling as she went. She sat on her bed, craddling the baby. Lilly felt the need to through the furniture around everywhere. Tear were falling everywhere.
Out of the blue Lilly grabbed her coat, tightened her grip on the baby and walked out the door for a short walk.
Whilst walking, Lilly couldn't help but feel her life was flaling apart.
She looked down at her niece to see her sleeping peacefully. It was becoming too much for Lilly to handle.
Lilly came across her fathers house. She strolled up to the door, and gently knocked.
"Lilly? What's wrong?" Paul asked when answering the door.
"Can you take her? I needa break."
"Sure. Is everything okay?"
"I just need a break for a while. Oh and her name is Isabella."
Lilly handed Paul the baby and walked off into the darkness.
Lilly entered a bar, hoping the days events would wash away.

Scotty just smiled couldn't believe how drunk his partner was; he supported her making their way to the door;
"Bye, Bill" he nodded to barkeep
"Bye, Bill!" Lilly yelled while trying to wave her hand goodbye
Scotty helped Lilly get inside his car and they drove toward her home.
"Your handsome" Lil' said in drunken voice "I mean like. Have I told you you are" then she turned her head and started reading outloud signs they passed; Scotty chuckled "I'm so glad your a happy drunk"
Lilly turned to Scotty when he parked in front of her house "Will you help me get upstairs?" she was slowly sobbering up.
"Sure" he walked around the car and helped Lilly to her door. Lilly handed him keys; "Thank you" she kissed him on the cheek while he tried to figure which one was the house key.

Lilly woke up in the morning thirsty, her head hammering; she clearly had a hangover. She turned to the side and immidiatelly jumped out from her bed at the sight of Scotty laying on the other side of the bed. This made Scotty wake up "Morning, Lil'"
Her eyes were wide open looking straight at him
"Did we..?" she started but was afraid to finnish the question

Suddenly, Lilly jumped up and ran into the bathroom. Scotty heard the sounds of her throwing up, feeling useless.
When Lilly returned, she got back into the bed. "No one can find out! If Patrick finds out, he'll use it against me."
Scotty nodded. "Between you and I. No one else."
Lilly moaned, crawling under the blankets.. "Can you get me some asprin?"
A few hours later Lilly was resting in bed when she decided to break the ice. "What exactly happened last night?" She asked Scotty, a little nervous to find out.
"Well, the bartender called me when you got drunk. I know him."
"Yeah...and?"
"You uh...well you kinda spoke a little too loud. You were really friendly with people that were passing by."
"What do you mean?" Lilly asked, her eyes widening.
"Uh...You kinda yelled out things to people on the street."
Lilly laughed out loud, picturing in her head how utterly stupid she would have looked.
"You were cute." Scotty whispered.
Lilly reached over and kissed him. "I'm glad you like me drunk." She teased.

"Good night, Lil" he said when she with the baby in her arms entered her home
"Scotty?" she turned toward him "You're not gonna tell me?"
"It's gonna change things between us." he returned to his car
"It already did. So..?" she hoped for the answer
He opened the cardoor but hesitated with getting in "You proposed to me" he got inside and drove away; Lilly stood at the doorway eyes wide, her own action from previous night catching her off-guard.

Lilly got up, grabbed few clothes and went to the bathroom to change. Scotty was sitting on the bed thinking about last night, especially things Lilly said to him. He got up and moved closer to the bathroom door.

Over next couple of days Lilly didn't call Scotty, she was to embarrassed, besides Isabella was keeping her busy. She bumped into him in family court after the first meeting with the judge over Isabella's custody. She still felt akward, trying not to make eye contact.
"I heard everything went ok" Scotty broke the silence
"Yeah. Looks like I'll have the custody, Patrick just visitation rights" she looked around nervously
"Great to hear that, Lil'. You should go out and celebrate." he smiled
"I don't know about that. Last time it..."she didn't know what to say to Scotty
"I regret telling you." he walked away

Later that day after putting her niece to sleep Lilly sat on the bed and grabbed the phone
"Valens" said voice on the other end
"I don't want to marry you, not now at least" Lilly started slowly
"Lil'?"
"I got to take care of my niece now and life's getting complicated but I think I want to try dating, being close to you, see how it's going to-" she said almost on one breath when he interrupted her
"How about dinner tomorrow? I'll pick you up at 7?"
"ok" Lil' said after few moments of silence and hung up the phone
'What am I doing?' she asked herself while laying down on the bed 'and what should I ware?' she got up and opened the closet
