I'm going out on a limb and predicting that one song on this episode will be:
The Letter by the Boxtops
Anyone remember that song? Probably 60's
Give me a ticket for an airplane. Ain't got time to take a fast train. Lonely days are gone, I'm a going home, My baby- she wrote me a letter.

m&m,
I would love a few shots of Lilly at the very end as she walks the stacks and stops to look down the isle at young Sadie. I just loved that scene.

What can I say...how cruel people are/were in life. The rape scene was well done. What comes out is the mentality. How he felt he could love her because she looked like she could pass for white but how he couldn't love her daughter because she was too black.
I liked one of Lilly lines as she spoke to the white man who was in love with Sadie. There was something in there about Lilly's past that we still don't know about. She said: " Because what hapens in the past never really goes away."
Anyone remember those kind of stencils? I laughed when I saw them in the beginning on the box. I had them when I was a kid...the exact same ones.
I chucked at the handwriting expert telling Scotty about his handwriting. "running from something? Anyone catch the look on Scotty's face? Funny. There's something there too.
Kite asked Lilly how her cats were? Funny. I have to watch it again. I always need to see these eps twice to pull everything together.

This is my short synopsis of the show *******SPOILER********** THE LETTER In August of 1939, Sadie Douglas was murdered and it was believed to be a pimp (a John) probably killed her. 65 yrs later, Sadie’s granddaughter, the one who's name we shall not say, wants Lilly to find out who really killed her grandmother. Sadie was found raped and suffocated. It was a time that jobs were few because of the Depression era and in this case, these African American women came up from the South to work by any means. They lived in a boarding house for prostitutes; presently this house has become a bed & breakfast. Sadie leaves her daughter in VA so that one day she will be able to save some money and be with her daughter. She loved her daughter so much that she writes letters everyday. However, it’s Virginia, a 10 yr. old girl that wrote those letters and notes. Neither Sadie nor the other women knew how to read or write. How sad that her daughter does not try to find out whom her mother’s killer was and it’s the granddaughter that investigates further. This was a time where a hate group of Blacks, the Fifth Day, existed and was trying prevent African Americans coming up to take over “white men” jobs. Every fifth day they would attack innocent Black folks. Lilly and her team find a few possible suspects. Delaney Delight, the “Candy Man”, was dating Blanche from the Boarding house, but also had a crush on Sadie. The Milkmen, one who seem to be a most likely suspect was Pierce and the other, Jonsey, who fell in love with her. My first reaction when I saw how the script portrayed Pierce with a burnt face and how he treated those women, I thought for sure they had their man (of course, he’s dead), but only thing he was guilty of was raping her. Then I thought maybe it was the “Candy Man” because he had a crush on her and possibly was jealous when he found out Sadie was seeing Jonsey, the other milkman. Actually Delaney feared that the group, the Fifth Day, will discover Sadie’s secret and get rid of her. There was the discovery of the notes being passed back and forth with the milk bottles. Jonsey fell in love with Sadie and promised her to bring her to New York along with her daughter. How sad that in end he killed her; covered her eyes and suffocated her. Those promises he made for Sadie and her daughter ended when he discovers that her child was dark compare to Sadie’s light skin. I thought the show was pretty good, I loved when they flashed back the characters to their time of youth and then back to the present. It pretty much portrayed the time period of prejudice back then and IMO presently still exists. I didn’t pay too much to the music being played, but I did catch the last song “Blue Moon” which made me think of my parents who used to sing that song. So what do the rest of you think? I might have missed some other points, but fill me in if I did . ;D edited b/c I forgot "spoiler" and couple of words

ARGGGH!!! I'm so jealous of you guys! Up here in Canada, NBC and CBS are on the same channel, so Cold Case was cancelled, and instead, they broadcasted the Golden Globes. It seemed like a very good episode, and I'm disappointed that I missed it

I'll make sure to grab some shots to send your way from that final scene when I cap that episode, Naj . I also mentally noted that I need a shot of Scotty and his 'spray-cheese Cheesesteak' to go with Lilly and her fries. error.....by Naj.....

Anyone know who played the adult Jonesy, I must have seen him on something else, possibly a 70's or 80's tv show. Please help if you know.

my apologies to m&m I thought I was replying with a quote to your thread.
yes, i'd like to see some pictures for the ep. Can't wait.
Eurache, Guess I was reallyoff on the song. I should have known better it being a 1939 episode.
I have to watch it again to pick up the conversation between Kite and Lilly. sometimes I can hear dialog on that show for some reason.
MF,
Geez. That would make me mad not seeing the show. Maybe they will reair it there sometime later this week?
I'm not one for stories in that era. Maybe for those reasons but it was a good episode.

No worries, Naj! I don't have it saved to re-post, but that doesn't matter! I'm still fighting to get adjusted to posting and all of its doo-hickeys and you have that much more to adjust to as an admin so please don't worry about it! ~m&m

SPOILERS AHEAD . . . YE HATH BEEN WARNED . . . . . . I really liked this episode. Not only do the actors seem to be becoming more comfortable in their roles, but the note swapping scenes were lovely and I adore the line "Miss Sadie was a lady." So what is Scotty running from? We already know he knows someone schizophrenic, so that could be one reason for something like that. And he eats Cheez Whiz on his cheesesteaks . . . gross. Anyway, I'm a sucker for sweet episodes like this, although the end kind of made it seem like they only made Jonesy do it because he was alive and they had to arrest someone. Oh well.

Tarik asked this question on another forum....Did Jonsey get charged with murder? I know he was holding Sadie down. But what of all the others in the group?
