I wonder if the flashback scenes will be in black and white. ~Naj I hope so. Some of my favorite flashback scenes were in "Boy in the Box," "The Letter," and "A Time to Hate," which were all in black and white. They really bring the viewer back into the time period more, thus getting us more involved in the case and characters, which color just can't do as well.

spoilers . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . .
Wow! This was a very solid episode in storyline, acting, directing and shooting. This is some of the best camera usage I've seen since the pilot. You can tell when it all clicks for everyone involved.
This was a very sad story. It seems that many of their best efforts revolve around gay themes.
Vera was so funny reading the first line of poetry and in the ending scene Stillman kinda grins watching him still absorbed in Billie's writings. I just love Vera! Rose was such a dear and so was Billie. Great acting. I can't even tell you if the flashbacks were black and white. I think they were.
Looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say. And I wonder if Curtis was charged with anything or Rose.

I found this episode to be pretty good. The acting was well done and I have to say the flashback scenes were excellent. I don't believe they used black and white for them and I feel they should have. It didn't take away from the story at all though. It was neat to see all the antique cars from '32 and to deal with bootlegging and see what that was all about. I like how all the detectives were involved in this ep, especially while they were reading the poetry. I think the show is so strong when all 5 detectives are in the same scenes and play off each other. Well done. One small gripe: Will's B'day seemed thrown in and not well put together. It seemed as though it was an afterthought on the writers part. I liked the idea but the way it was handled I felt could have been better. And what's this about a lounge singer he's been seeing?? Has he talked to her or just watched her sing. That came out of nowhere. InsideR was right. This was a very emotional episode overall. Let me just say: "The Woods" preview... WOW!!! I cannot wait.

Hi Ryebeach, I felt the episode was so strong that they could have gotten away from not adding any personal tidbits in the storyline. I didn't quite get Jeffires either. I have taped it so I will be going back to rewatch it. The detectives were all involved in Badlands the second season premiere but it didn't feel, to me, as though it meshed. Did it to you? And I haven't looked but could that just be the storyline, the directing? Maybe it's just my personal taste for topics but I thought this was just a very moving episode and the detectives seemed like they were "on" for this shoot. Maybe it's the editing too? I don't know so I'll just shut up for now. ~Naj

Hi Ryebeach, I felt the episode was so strong that they could have gotten away from not adding any personal tidbits in the storyline. I didn't quite get Jeffires either. I have taped it so I will be going back to rewatch it. I agree Naj. If there hadn't been any detective personal stories, we would have been just fine with this episode. The story was so strong on it own, the Jeffies scenes just couldn't live up to it. The detectives were all involved in Badlands the second season premiere but it didn't feel, to me, as though it meshed. Did it to you? I've only watched "The Badlands" when it originally aired and I do recall the detectives all being involved but that ep was really a Jeffries episode whereas this episode turly wasn't any one detectives ep. It was about Billie and Rose and the times they lived in. The detective scenes when they were all together were definately back burner but I still enjoyed them nonetheless.

did you hear Lilly response when Rose state she had not talk to or seen her brother something like over 70 yrs and Lilly said something like, i know how that goes.. or feels.. something like that I thought that was just like Lilly to say that. It was something like: Rose: I haven't talked to Curtis since that night in 1932. Lilly: Wow, a 70 year sibling fued. You've got me beat. foujylos.notlong.com [/IMG]

Yea, Ryebeach, maybe Lilly doesn't feel so bad now about not talking to Christina. Rose's brother didn't even report what had happened. What kind of person is like that? Is he that hateful of her for liking another woman? That's awful.
Eurache,
No comment on your age. :yikes: nor mine!
