The markings on Rainey's leg reminded me of " The Sleepover' and how she was bulllied by the popular girls.
Lilly being a tough girl in high school wasn't hard for me to belive, especially how she handles Becca at the end. Vera on the other hand, I wouldn't have taken him for a hockey player at all.
Joe the outcast guy reminded me a little of Kathryn's character that she played in the movie' Death of a cheerleader' with the black hair and some of the facial expressions.

first of all.. wow those highschool pics of kat and vera..i laughed my ass off for a bit lol cute
i liked this episode even if i thought the plots were very borderline cliched i think ALL those girls shouldve been arrested since they held her down which is assault. i thought the one powerful line joe said to rainey when he was acting out to becca and rainey during class was how it's really women who tear each other apart more so than men. it's very true. not trying to bash women but girls and women can REALLY be vicious. i rather deck it out with some guy and get it over with than go about this continuous verbal stabbings and humilating plots any day :-)
the last scene was pretty sad that celeste was clinging on to something that trivial and let her best friend die to salvage her "status". the tragic choices teenagers make without real thought to the consequences of what it's worth. i also felt sorry for becca..for someone who is still that juvenile after 10 years since highschool is really pathetic.
the true lesson from the episode is "dont piss girls off..especially if they're teenager" hehe

the true lesson from the episode is "dont piss girls off..especially if they're teenager" hehe A very true statement. I can identify with that on both levels--the teenage female and having been on the receiving end from the wrath of one.

There's a quote that I read somewhere on heavy metal forum I frequent that actually goes well with Joe's comment about how women are more vicious than men.
"As a general rule savages tend to be more polite than civil people. For one thing, civil people don't have to worry about getting ripped apart for being rude."
So the episode was cliched, but certain parts made it so worthwhile. Lilly saying "Don't move a muscle, b*tch." was sooo worth it.

Very interesting... Did everyone notice in tonight's episode there were several references to Motorcycles and Black Leather Jackets?? At one time, Black Leather Jackets were worn almost exclusively in Cold Case by criminal characters. It appears that this pattern is being broken with both tonight and last week's episode. --In the museum, there is an art piece of a motorcyclist's silhouette. (It is dark, blacken in color.) --Kat is wearing a Black Motorcycling Leather Jacket when she and Jeffries interview Coach Pruit. (Incidentally, that was an exterior of West Philadelphia High School in the location shot that introduced the scene.) --Joe is wearing a Black Motorcycling Leather Jacket in his classroom flashbacks and the scene where he draws the atom on Rainey's leg. --A Motorcycle is mentioned in the Radiohead's lyrics used for the closing montage. The jackets worn in this episode appeared to me more like fashion jackets "inspired" by motorcycle jackets, rather than actual biking leather. Motorcycling jackets are identifiable by their lack of a lapel, zippered pockets, and their close-fit cut. These features are incorporated to accommodate the wind when riding. ( Rocker Jackets, another form of motorcycling jacket made popular from the late 50's, have lapels that fold into the chest flap when the diagonal zipper is pulled all the way up. Actual motorcycle jacket usually have extra-long sleeves, "pre-bent" at the elbows. They also have armor sewn in at the elbows, shoulders and back.) Toward the ending of Season Three and at the beginning of Season Four, Kat could be seen wearing Black Leather Jackets, which led me to wonder if it was meant to foreshadow that she had some type of criminal past. But in tonight and last week's episode, it looks like they are moving away from associating Black Leather Jackets with criminals. I haven't drawn any conclusions about the Motorcycles in tonight's episode; but it should be noted that Ray also wore a Black Leather Motorcycling Jacket too.... Also, it's interesting how Black Leather Jackets appeared twice tonight, because Varsity jackets were so prevalent. No coffee in tonight's episode?? Or did I miss a scene

I think I kind of guessed it b/c in the beginning the two best friends had one of those "Best Friends" charm necklace which broke in half. The victim had the one half and her best friend had the other half. Then I thought the head Cheerleader looked kind of whacked out. She seem to watch her boyfriend look at the victim. I loved what Lilly said to the Head Cheerleader "don't move B*tch!!! I clapped my hands on that .. whoo Hoooo you go Lil!! Love the ending when Vera and Kat show each others HS pictures.. I got to look at this again, I didn't pay attention to all the leather jackets worn.

- The Great white shark- at the end Lilly comes darting at Becca like a shark does ready to pounce.
- " Take your pomp poms and Shove them" reminded me of something simliar that Lilly had said in the episode' The Key'
Is it a possiblity that Lilly knows something about art, since she had to explain to Scotty in that Mueseum?

I liked this episode ... it was entertaining and had me laughing in parts (especially with the whole "What were you in high school?" routine with Lilly, Kat and Vera. ) But at the same time, it kind of felt like S2's "The Sleepover" meets Mean Girls (especially that first scene in the cafeteria - could've sworn I was watching Rachel McAdams vs. Lindsey Lohan. LOL!). Then again, because of this, I sort of felt as if I knew what was coming, so the story didn't play all that original. But, I still enjoyed it. There were some lighter moments with all the detectives in this one, and I always enjoy that. They seemed to be a little more loose, a little more at ease - even when questioning some of the teenagers. I especially liked when Stillman picked up right away on the "frenemies" thing, whilst Scotty looked completely puzzled. LOL! Lilly vs. Becca was the highlight for me. When she said, "I'll handle this" as she walked into the reunion, I was thinking some good ol' Lil' was in store ... and I wasn't disappointed. "Don't move a muscle ... b*itch." LOVE THAT! But also ... at the end, when mom posted, "My daughter is my hero" on the wall, that kind of got me. I'm very close with my mom, so ... that tugged at a heart string (or two). All in all, good ep.

I gave this one a good as well. It's true that it felt a little close to that cliche line, but I thought that it had enough originality to make it its own. As others have mentioned, there were great scenes with gang working together and reminiscing about their own high school experiences. Loved the ending with Vera and Kat exchanging pictures in a "you show me yours, and I'll show you mine" kind of moment. This ep had that old S1 feel of the detectives helping each other out (acting like friends) with Lilly in the lead. Can't beat that! I wasn't sure what had happened to Rainey, but I thought the answer was plausible and another example of "accidental murder." Becca was so b*tchy and horrible, and yet, Celeste would rather deal with her than return to her pre-popular days. So sad. I was in high school during the year this one took place, so I found the ep to be very relatable. I didn't have girls this mean, but there's no doubt that girls live to cut each other down, especially at that age. Just this weekend I spent time with some college pals. We were having a girls weekend and some of the girls spent most of it talking about other girls we encountered (they talked about girls who weren't wearing enough makeup, a girl with a dress that was too dressy, a girl who apparently "hooks up" with everyone she meets, and so on). It was eye-roll inducing, but a sad reality to how girls treat other girls (in this case some of whom they didn't even know). So while most may not be as mean as Becca all the time, I think they still have their Becca moments even at the age of 27. Anyway, I loved Lil's feisty moments (especially with Becca and Casey), Stillman's frienemies knowledge, and Vera's wrestling pride. Great stuff. As always, more thoughts and caps at Pass the Remote.

i did find the death scene to be disturbing..mainly because celeste decided to just let her die for the sake of being popular even whatever hazing she had to go through to get it. the circumstances to rainey's death is just..weird but i think thats what i like about cold case..its not a pure cut case who dunnit and but really how and why. even plots as cliched as this one still made it work a little in the end.
on another note, the producers always know how to pick the best ending music montage. high and dry from radiohead was excellent..was and still one of my favorite tracks. the actress who played rainy was awfully cute..sorry had to throw that in there. :-)

Is it a possiblity that Lilly knows something about art, since she had to explain to Scotty in that Museum? Lilly is clearly intelligent and well read, even Batman comics, and was just explaining what modern art. Clearly Scotty has his views on art and what it should be, and I can't say I disagree that much. I liked Scotty's "if I can make it ain't" response to Lilly's "it's art." the actress who played rainy was awfully cute..sorry had to throw that in there. :-) Don't apologise, she was. She reminded me of another actress but I can't for the life of me remember who. Anyone?

i noticed a lot of the guest actresses lately have been cute. of course that opinion being subjective heh a close friend of mine looks exactly like the actress who played andi simmons in "superstar" who i thought was very pretty
to digress...im glad this episode took a break away from the main character's personal lives. depending on the direction it can get very distracting for me sometimes imho
lily was clearly a take-charge in this one. it was nice to see that personality come out.

I totally liked this ep a lot! My FAVORITE scene was when Lilly said, "Don't move a muscle...bi*ch" ! It got me tickled just to see her actin tough! ;D I also enjoyed the HS pics of Vera and Miller, even though they kinda creeped me out...lol! but WHERE is the pic of Lilly from HS?! I would much rather see it! The case was good but really sad, and I loved the Spice Girls song they stuck in one of the scenes, I was totally obsessed with them when they were off-the-charts! And seeing the way they acted in this ep made me glad that no one is REALLY treated this way in my HS cheerleading, but there IS a good bit of viciousness between the squads!

Whilst reviewing Stand Up And Holler to help out frenchfan with a translation I noticed this: Hopefully I'm not repeating something that has already been pointed out. It's the file that Lilly has with her when she and Scotty go and look at the art with Rainey's mother. We get a couple of brief glimpses as Lilly compares the drawing with the photo in the file. Notice the wording. Things like "Definitely not a cheerleader" and "You too, Miller?" It's the script for the Lilly, Kat & Nick chat after the title sequence, where Nick says he was a hockey star.
