I still think Ray is the wrong man for lilly , he's soo ugly Well, he looked good the next morning. Because, of course, he took a cold shower before heading to the Philly PD. Ha ha ha!

I hope that she doesn't intend on marrying him . Maybe it was good for them to be together but somehow , they don't really make a cute couple

He owns a business, or at least is the general manager. Any chance that he's going to give that up to move to Philly??? She's rather high up in the police department. Is she going to give that up to be with him?? She probably makes as much, if not more money than he does too. Does anyone really think she'll give that up to be with him??? They both probably thought of this the first night they went out...and that's why she insisted he sleep on the couch. She couldn't risk getting too much into this guy again!

Good point , lilly would never give up her job to be with ray ...... I think They would remain good friends but not lovers It took him how many years to get from a repair guy to running the place?? He's not going to give that up right away either. And where is this guy from anyway, where he can't get to Philly right away?? My friend goes almost every weekend up to Poughkeepsie, New York to hang out with a married couple he's been in the Navy with. That's a 190-mile drive each way, and he's been doing that for almost three years now, for almost every weekend! (The husband enlisted the same time he did, and the wife was an ex-girlfriend of his; and now that all of them are in reserves, they still hang out with each other.) Ray, being a biker, would love to have any reason to ride a long haul, even if its only during good weather. I know that feeling and I can say this assuredly because I ride my motorcycle any chance I can get from spring to fall and any warm day in winter. I really doubt he's into Lilly that strongly, otherwise he'd be in Philly any chance he had. Sorry ladies, Ray's a dog. And Lilly knows this, that's why he slept on the couch. Ha ha ha... I know that feeling, but he deserved it! Yeah, that was funny in a devilish way! Now I'm beginning to see Scotty's story that Myril noted to me earlier. Well, he can only kick himself for going out with her sister. ha ha ha. I'm sure Lilly is loving every minute of it!

I think all the fans who say that Lilly and Scotty should(will) get together are wrong. She would never get involved with someone that she works with. I agree with you. It's not going to happen. But, I guess, those fans of that pairing can dream. :smile41: In my opinion, it would ruin the show if any of them ever hooked up.

I would love for your assessment of what happened between Lil and Ray to be true boxman. I'm holding out hope that it is. However... Something about this whole "relationship" isn't sitting right with me. I mulled it over last night and this morning after letting the episode digest overnight (sorry for the yucky metaphor ), and I think it bothers me that Lilly would be so callous with Ray. Instead of deciding to develop a relationship with him (which, as I said before, is what I was expecting and hoping for), she decided to just jump into bed with him because she was feeling a little needy. It just wreaks of every other TV show and I'm not a big fan of this cliche. I'm tired of seeing women and men jumping into bed together on the drop of a hat. What I liked about Cold Case in the past was the way they didn't take this route with Lilly. We never saw her jumping into bed with anyone. The one thing that keeps me from being really disappointed is the fact that she and Ray had a prior relationship, so it isn't like she found some Joe-Schmo at a bar and took him home (which, BTW, would absolutely ruin this show for me). I really wanted to see Ray just grab Lilly and kiss her and sweep her off her feet, but alas, we weren't given anything in that department. I liked the way he sort of chased her around the interorgation room, though. When he asked her to "Come here" and she said no, it seemed like she was saying no for more than just the fact that she was at work and in a two-way mirrored room. I think she was saying no because she was afraid of getting too close to him. She seems to want to distance herself from him emotionally, probably because of her past relationships. I really think this one is supposed to be just for fun without any fear of hurt feelings or committment. Maybe (hopefully), I'm wrong. Just to recap, I like Lilly with Ray, I'm just not a big fan of the way the show decided to go about their relationship. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things turn out better in the future, though.

Lilly just seems to be constantly running and hiding from her emotions. I thought that this would have been an opportunity for Lilly to really open up to someone but it didn't happen, which was kinda disappointing for me. I'm hoping he comes back or at the very least we hear something about him.

Oh, double-ditto! Ditto, ditto, ditto!!! You hit the nail on the head here, TVFan, except I still think they just took a long ride out somewhere. Consider that Ray and Scotty was talking about motorcycles the next morning. Remember that Ray said something like,"You'd like the way she hums...nice and smooth" when Lilly walks into the office? Turns out he was talking about a motor, not about Lilly (ha ha ha...). That's because Scotty 'asked Ray about last night' and Ray could, in turn, only talk about what its like to ride a motorcycle and recommend to Scotty that he should get one! I had to quote this again because that's exactly what I was thinking at the end of the show. I really had to think this reaction over; and as I told disasterfreak, I think they're underplaying Ray's character for now, to be revealed in more depth later.. Who knows? Nine more episodes!

Has anyone seen "West Side Story" recently? I'm wondering if the fire escape scene in this episode is similar to the one in the movie. I still get the feeling that the scene with Roween standing out there is referring to another love story, but I'm not really into romantic dramas.....

It sounds like everybody is soooo unhappy about MC guy & Lilly was it really so bad?
And the case was it a "typical" Victim meets murder, promise to rob a bank share the money, then shoots the victim etc.??
That's all I need to know. ;D

No, sorry boxman, haven't seen it actually for years. But I as well have the feeling this scene reminds me of something, and West Side Story was one thing coming into my mind. Actually I had the impression with some of the flashbacks, but no idea what it might be refering to. But I noticed a thing Roween said to Julious when they meet in the bank and she's talking about the cafe. "Makes you feel like you're stepping into one of these old time movie pictures." Perhaps that's something they really wanted us to feel like. Had to think of James Dean movies as well. As far as I remember all already had been Technicolor, but still this might be one reason, why they chose to make the flashbacks B&W (simpler perhaps than immitating the old color look or more obvious, not sure)

Maybe that statement about movie pictures is a hint that we're on the right track on this?? Its bugging me--I think its a movie I caught on cable TV and wasn't paying attention to. I like your suggestion about James Dean, it make sense considering his 'bad boy' image. For some reason, I'm also thinking Audrey Hepburn again, like we were with "Debut". I did see the remake of "Sabrina" ten years ago (with Julia Ormond, Harrison Ford, and Greg Kinnear), but that doesn't seem correct. I found this also: www.imdb.com/keyword/fire-escape/ and "Breakfast at Tiffany's" pops up, but the scene in that movie isn't like the one in this episode. (see here.) And unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the plot of most of the movies listed. The other idea about this scene that rings my memory is how Roween wanted to break in her new shoes for a big night out, but I can't figure out where I might have seen that.... P.S. Also, Roween was reading "Gone With The Wind", another reference to old time movie pictures... Hmmm....

To me all of lilly's actions made sense when taking into context everything that has gone on before. Yeah, sure there was new element that we hadn't seen before, but it was believeable to me. Personally I hope Ray comes back and we can see some more of them.

I loved that scene when lilly first sees Ray , She had on such a huge smile. I think the whole storyline had a big connection, Roween and Jules , Lilly and Ray in how their relationship towards each other were. The writers wanted us to see the point .....This episode had it all ... But the ending had a twist , where we though we'd seen the last of Ray ,he shows up at lilly's home , and Jules didn't kill roween it was phil ...
