Kat is the new detective, mikencelia. She didn't actually replace anyone (she's just a sixth detective), unless you count the actor who portrayed the Defunct Detective's character who was only in a few episodes earlier this season. It seems that Kat is a regular cast member now, so she's perminent. My best guess as to why she's there, CBS wanting to freshen up the show.

Thanks TruBlu, I looked up the actors and it turned out I have seen Jake (Trevor) in a few other stuff.(7th Heaven, Hangmans Curse, etc.) That's why I recognized him so
Thanks Again!

Hi, guys! This was my second or third episode of "Cold Case" that I ever watched - I think "Rampage" was first, but can't remember if I saw "Shuffle, Ball, Change" first before this. That's my way of saying that I'm sorry if I get any of the details wrong, because it's been ages since I saw this episode.
Firstly, I'm so sorry that some of you have been in similar situations. However, I was disappointed in this episode. Mainly because I had high-ish expectation and then found it extremely implausible. Maybe not that kids could sneak out of detention and loop the video, but that no-one would find out. I mean, at my school, people are always coming in and out of classrooms, so someone would notice if a room where they were supposed to hold detention was suddenly vacant, even out of school hours. Plus, that the kids would agree to kill the stepfather - I really don't want to be cruel, and I know it's just a television programme, but I felt like Dawn and Trevor's romance was far too "by chance" for it to actually happen, and far too "storybook" as well. This is very cruel because I really did pity her plight, but at the same time, I was irritated by Dawn at times. On the other hand, I did like Raquel, the other girl, just because I thought she was an interesting character, and I liked the part where Older Boris said, "Well, you know what they say about Courtney..."

Hi Bee/ I remember this one was one of the first 20 cold case episodes I watched. I considered this one a good episode... especially for one character: Boris. He was and is a very good way to show how desperate are high school students(and people in general) when they feel alone. Raquel was gonna kill herself just for fun but later she stated it was not a serious plan/Trevor found something but he never got anything... So I understand him

Thought this was a good episode and liked that we have snippets of Kat very slowly. Perhaps CBS or the writers realized they brought in "Josie chippy" too fast and she had too much of a character issue.
I liked Jefferies interrogation of the stepfather and liked that Dawn told him off a bit.
