I like any episode that gives us DETAILS or anything that tells us more about Lily, Vera, Stillman or Jefferies. I think it was good that they laid off on Scotty for a while...

Wow, thanks Naj (blushes) :smile84:
I liked this episode a lot. Liz Garcia rarely includes a lot of personal elements for the detectives in her stories, so I wasn't expecting there to be a lot of one detective or another. In fact, it was nicely balanced between all six of them with Lilly still getting the chunk of the episode. I loved how she was a part of the final two interrogations and she was the one to see the victim at the end at the school yard. Nice shots at the end with Lilly on one side of the chain-link fence and the ghost of Trevor on the other. It was a beautiful shot of Lilly.
The case was very engrossing, which continues the trend as of late. The thing that made this case so tragic was how it dealt with the gray area of crime. The area where there isn't a bad guy. Trevor didn't commit suicide, but he wasn't pushed either. Even worse, he was trying to save Boris when the struggle took him over the roof and to his death on the pavement below. He was finally happy in his life and he was going to help Dawn and it was just so SAD!! I loved how the closing scenes showed Dawn finally meeting Trevor's parents. They finally learned that Trevor had someone who loved him. Even though the answer to his death was not emotionally fulfilling, I would imagine that learning about Dawn had to help a little bit.
The look that Lilly gave right after Boris told them the truth was so telling. It was like the case was solved, but the resolution was not what she had wanted. I just loved when she told Boris that she didn't care about Dawn's stepfather. I just wanted to applaud. What a horrible man! I'm so glad Jeffries was determined not to let that go unpunished. Unfortunanely, there is a statue of limitations on crimes such as these, so I'm not sure how much they'll be able to get him on, but hopefully, there's something. That man deserves a one-way ticket to prison.
Overall, a strong, gripping and involving case that falls nicely into the usual fare that we get from Liz.

Sounds good! Can't wait to see it myself. Statute of limitations for rape is 10 years I think? Maybe if it's child abuse within the family it's different... dunno. They've dealt indirectly with rape A LOT this season. Maybe it was that way before but I never noticed? Anyway, it's an interesting trend so long as they don't overdo it.

Oh and I agree with you on the balance of the show, TVFan. It should always be Lilly involved at the crucial points of the case and everyone else helping out. We can see this sixth addtiion - what it does - it makes someone else sit back some but if they use this formula they'll save the show. I loved Liz's choice for a setting and subject matter. This one goes on my "good" list for S3. I'd like to see a few OMG's eps this season. So far I'm not sure they've achived that, though.

Overall, I enjoyed the episode. I liked Trevor and really felt a sense of loss from his death. I also liked how one of the characters mentioned that high school was not like "The Breakfast Club" but then the scenes in detention really mirrored the movie(the stereotypes of the kids in there, sneaking out, bonding with each other, etc).
I remember when Kurt Cobain died (I was 11). My brother was a fan of Nirvana's, but not to the extent of Trevor(i.e. going into mourning, detaching himself from everyone). Although I do remember in high school some friends of mine who would practically go into mourning on the anniversary of his death. So in a lot of ways, I could relate to that part of the episode and the characters.
I really wish the show would have used one or two Nirvana songs, but I'm guessing they weren't able to get the rights and this may have been why the episode was changed from All Apologies (a Nirvana song). I did like the Smashing Pumpkin's version of Landslide at the end, especially the "I'm getting older" part when Trevor appeared. So sad.
Still happy they're introducing the new detective slowly. And I'm also gonna guess that Veronica (?) is probably her child.

I liked this episode. I was in 8th grade when Kurt Cobain died, and I did have a few friends that reacted to his death a lot like Trevor died (although not quite as much as he did).
There were a few moments in the episode that I really liked. The first was when they mentioned telling the parents that they were looking into it and Scotty was clearly thinking of Alyssa, although someone who wasn't a regular viewere never would have noticed.
The seconds is when Lily "saw" Trevor at the end he was running his hands along the fence just like in his poem. I really liked that moment.
But I do agree that we haven't been getting enough Lily this season.

I really like this episode i thought it was a very real perspective of 1994. A lot of kids are really obsessive about Kurt Cobain (mostly gothic kids) and they really aren't bad kids just kind of depressed. I don;t understand what's so captivating about Kurt Cobain's scary they really bring you down, mostly.
I'm not really sure how I feel about Kat Miller. I think she's taking up Lil's and Scotty's screentime and I don't personally think she is the best actress on the show. Maybe I just miss having just the original charcters on it, I don't know.
Maybe Lilly has had some kind of peace about her since Christine left. She might feel that Christina has gotten out of situations before and that made her more angry but now she feels Christina has got what she deserves and she is less angry.

I think it was a strong episode, one of the best of this season so far. The story perhaps a bit predictable but still nicely written, emotional but not overdone. While watching it I remembered a lot of my own HS time (it's further back though but some things never seem to change) and it was close to that. A good capture of the intensity of feelings and how dramatic things look at that age. An impressiv acting of the guest cast.
And nice scenes for the main cast. As others I like episode where the main characters in some way connect to the story and agree there wasn't much of this in this ep, still I think there were good moments for the main cast to act out their characters, subtle like Scotty's look talking about the parents feeling guilty, Jeffries strong reaction to the stepfather, Vera and Scotty gossiping. And I think we got more of Lilly than in other episodes, more of the resolute, energetic female detective again, investigating with soul and head, being the center of the team and pushing to find the truth. No bits of her past, but I don't need that every epsiode as long as I have the impression it's still Lilly's show - and in this episode I had no doubts about that. An impression I hadn't for a while.

Yey I've seen it, and it was totally worth the wait IMO. A very good episode. I guess I related to it in alot of ways as I was in final year of secondary school in 1994 and was into Nirvana. There were a few people I knew that were totally effected by the death of Kurt Cobain. I thought the case was strong and totally believable. Kids do things like make pacts and I personally knew alot of people who were suicidal in school with at least 3 girls taking overdoses and ending up in hospital. I loved the music in the episode but it was such a shame they couldn't get any Nirvana songs as that would complimented the story further. It was nice to see Lilly have the chunk of the screen time and for Scotty to be more in the background but have good moments when he was shown. Overall another great ep.
