I think this whole episode was great especially the hotel scene. I Not a big country fan at all, but loved how every connected into the storyline. Lilly and Scotty's scenes were my favorite

I'm a little emotional today so please try not to laugh too hard if this post comes out sounding kinda drippy . Can't add too much to what's been said already, you've all been so good about pointing out the episode's strengths. I don't mind country music so I wasn't against it from the start, the story grew on me quickly and the characters, especially Truck and his brother, were totally loveable. I did NOT like Edie, though--talk about selling your principles for the filthy lucre. And "I was never here, I was not part of this"--what the hell was THAT? What a sissy coward. She DESERVED to get her butt thrown in jail. Even more than Kylie the disgruntled husband shooter. The Scotty/Lilly bonding scene was great. I know I'm being a crybaby but I felt really sad when they realized they might just end up alone. Losing hope is just hard I guess... although I always wanted Rush to be a "lone wolf" and a happy one, having your romantic hopes shattered by reality is never nice. That one moment when you realize the truth, that some things may just never happen and what you have is what there is, is just... dunno... And I actually teared up when Jeffries shook hands with his old partner. Once again being a crybaby, but my heart sort of broke for the guy. Everyone threw rocks at him and I kind of agreed with them at first, but he was a good guy deep down, just sticking up for his disturbed wife when no one else would... when other would just have left her. It's the homey details in this show that have made it so perfect this season. A single expression, a meaningful or funny comment at precisely the right time... the writers are doing a great job.

I gave it a "good". Nice story and side story, but I'm embarrassed to say that my "northern ears" had a hard time listening to the "country twang" of the South!! This is quite surprising to me, as two salesmen I work with at the "box factory" are from the south (North Carolina and Tennessee!!), and a major customer of ours is in Kentucky!! I'm kinda ashamed to say that the 'twang' was distracting to the point where I had a hard time getting "into" the story... Oh well....

I voted 'excellent'. I loved the music especially. The whole story was great. (Could've been more Nick Vera) You know I was going to say that, didn't you?

Such a cute episode because of the Lilly/Scotty scenes but I don't ship them. I just thought it was cute how they interacted as friends you know, instead of partners.
and one more thing - Lilly drinks beer! Hehehe

kind of late to posting this since i wasn't in this forum when it aired but i will say that this was my least favorite episode. the entire storyline was too predictable and the drug addict character practically gave himself away almost immediately in the second and third flashback scenes. the character of edie was pretty pointless. the music was terrible in my opinion. (sorry..i can tolerate some country music but tim mcgraw is grating to me) the cheesy stereotypes of people in the south was almost embarassing and i'm not even southern. the only thing i can see why some fans would like this because more focus was placed to show the personalities of the main characters. i think this episode was almost designed for teenage girls or housewives who love soap opera actors. this episode definitely did not work for me. even "knuckle up" was stronger ep than this one.

lol, nice call, eurache ;D ;D ( btw, I actually posted this @ 11:07 on 12/30 still, & not the next day (12/31). This thing has my time messed up ) I DID in fact enjoy this again. Truck Sugar sure was a looker, and that song he sang with Edie, "Counting my Lucky stars," was SO good. I totally loved it when Lilly said "big daddy" for the first time. It was more like "big (choke) daddy" & I just about busted out my TV's speakers during the hotel scene! I just can't get enough of it. I was telling pealee, too, about how much I wish I had someone like Scotty. and ray....joseph....kite.... ;D...you catch my drift

It was a lot easier to listen to this time around. I also watched it on a large-screen HDTV, so I got to see a lot of the nuances in the actor's performances. I noticed for the first time tonight how Truck's eyes started to well up in the van when he had to tell his brother about what was about to happen with them. It was a very nice touch to that scene that I didn't catch before.

I have just watched this one again in a rerun and this episode has a mixed reaction in me:
The not so good *That Charlene was a lovely woman! *We knew who the killer was! *That Edie was another lovely woman! *Weak storyline * I did not like either hate the hotel scene but that took off too much time(I dont like when they show detectives' personal lives)
The good: *Road trip *Humor: "Big daddy" "The runaway Pig and surprised faces" "isn't that a red state" *Jeffries in the end gave the clearance to Garrett because her wife was sick(her wife was in the hopsital, right? I did not understand what was going with her exactly) *Truck was a likeable character *Good final song
I voted for good because the storyline went weak too much However, about the point North vs. South... I mean, I have heard horror stories about Southern people(especially about rednecks and racists) so I don't think the show exaggerate about it...Sorry If Southerners feel offended but they have to admit that many Southerners are racist and so on
I dont know if the word "lovely woman" is appropiate but that's the only way I can describe Charlene and Edie

I have to agree, the storyline was weak. Wasn't the best episode that Season 4 had , it was mainly one the dud episodes that I didn't care too much for

I liked the L/S scene in the hotel room.
It seemed like Jefferies didn't know about his ex-partner's wife when he was partnered with him.
