OMG! That is so funny! You CAN see someone siting in the darkness to the left of the closet! It must be a crew member or something. I guess this would qualify as a goof because that person in the shot doesn't have anything to do with the story! You have great eyes, germanfan!

uh oh utter goof!! I never noticed that.
But The Woods has to be my favourite episode out of the ones that I have seen so far. I haven't watched every episode yet *wishes it was out on DVD* but I am an absolute sucker for drama and emotional drama to boot and this episode delivered. Kathryn Morris did a cracking job here and did an incredible job.
In this episode, I saw a different side of Lilly that I had never seen before as her protective wall was forcibly removed and it left her incredibly vulnerable but like a trooper and stranding true to herself, she fought. Incredible episode and extremely powerful!

WOW! I really enjoyed this episode. I'm happy now to FINALLY see it. I think this episode showcased Kathryn's acting talents very well. Great story to the episode; I was still surprised with the twists and turns, even though I've been hearing bits-and-pieces of this episode for a long time now. I loved the heavy and dark mood, and the music selection was excellent. "Behind Blue Eyes" really nailed the story and was perfect at the end.

This was the best episode ever IMO. Although I don't really like watching it anymore because it reminds me how good the show was before they messed it up so it p1sses me off because I sort of learned to accept the show what it is now, but when I watch The Woods it makes me not like CC the way it is now. Sorry I couldn't fit a fullstop in that sentence anywhere.

I've held off posting in this thread for ... well, ages, I think. LOL! After TNT decided against airing this ep in its first go-round with Season 2 repeats, I lost hope I'd ever get to see it. Best. Episode. Ever. Never. Have. Come. Close. To. This. Since. I can say this, now, having caught up on the series on the whole. This episode was something special. The character of George Marks was just so compelling - so intricate, so clever, so twisted and yet you actually could like the guy. You loved how he just turned Lilly inside out and exposed her completely - broke her down and empowered her at the same time. Genius. The connecting storylines between what was established in "Mindhunter" and how it came to a head in this finale was Veena Sud's best work (IMHO). The chemistry between Kathryn and John Billingsley was unreal. All the extra work they put in off-hours to make this faceoff so intense and climactic ... well, it showed. They created an amazing dynamic that it makes me wish George was still out there as Lilly's ultimate nemesis (other than her own self). I can't really add much to what has already been posted in this thread, and I can only imagine the anticipation of this finale ep when Season 2 was coming to an end a couple of years ago. I have to agree with 00bomber that it is kind of sad watching this ep because what was delivered in this ep is a reminder of just how ingenious the show was in those first two seasons. I would love to think they could come up with something this good again, but I don't think so. The show is so different, now ... and not always for the better. But you never know. Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant. So glad I got to see it.

Where did you find out this tidbit? I must have amnesia. Yea, season two had it all. I so wished they hadn't killed off George. Even when they did kill him off I thought maybe Lilly would have a nightmare episode of him. But all that fell by the wayside with the onset of changes in season 3. One more opportunity left undiscovered.

I have just seen the episode without knowing that it was a sequel of another one – “Mindhunters”, which I hadn’t seen. Could anybody please tell me if there are other episodes with plots linked to one another? I just don’t want to ruin the pleasure of watching the whole story again.

Where did you find out this tidbit? I must have amnesia. Possibly from this article: www.trektoday.com/interviews/john_billingsley_may06.shtmlYea, season two had it all. I so wished they hadn't killed off George. Even when they did kill him off I thought maybe Lilly would have a nightmare episode of him. But all that fell by the wayside with the onset of changes in season 3. One more opportunity left undiscovered. Don't worry. Someone else had the same idea. coldcase2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fanfic&action=display&thread=5903Actually I read something interesting regarding George and his mother a while ago. Another site stated that Simone was raped once before and George was the product of that rape. Now there's no explicit evidence to support this, but it got me thinking. It actually would explain a great deal: The apparent absense of George's father; Simone's paranoid and anti-social nature, living as a shut-in; her feigned blindness; why she assumed Lee (the social worker) wanted to rape her, as Jacob did; her obvious disdain for her own son; and most of all, her selling out George to save herself. As I said, there's no definitive proof of this, but simply having had it suggested to me puts the episode in a whole new light. Simone, while still a terrible mother and a screwed-up human being, now appears slightly more sympathetic, while George's pedigree becomes even more twisted, and makes one wonder if any of his father's attributes were passed on to him. Not a predisposition toward rape, obviously, but a sociopathic personality, a predatory nature, and a twisted regard towards women (particularly ones seen as "strong" in his eyes). Yes, this gave a lot to think about. What do you think?

Nope, doesn't change a thing for me. Rape is a cruel, horrible degrading crime and how on earth you could offer your child up to suffer that fate is beyond me. No excuses for what she did IMO.

Man oh man..TNT finally aired this episode again this year . It's saved onto my DVR at last! I think looking back at all the season finales, none of them comes even close to topping the Season 2 finale in my opinion. Not even the Season 7 series finale came close to this episode. It was just the best storyline on "Cold Case" ever! Plus, terrific acting by Kathryn Morris in those last closing scenes between her and George . It's such a shame that this show got cancelled :/, but at least it stayed strong throughout seven seasons.

I also think this was a great season finale, over the top! George was a freak, making other women pay for what his mother did to him does not give him the right to do such horrible and cruel things to this women. George's mother wasn't a mother at all... no matter what tragedy had happened in your life, when you're a mother you do everything in your power to make sure this little person that you brought into the world is safe and well cared for. NO MATTER WHAT! I loved the scenes between Lilly and George... very powerful
