Awww, foxfire... it really is impossible for me to watch those clips. The screen goes blank no matter what I do. But thanks for the effort anyhow. I'm sure others will enjoy it .

And Scottys voice when he was talk with George on cell phone... rudaxf- wasn't it just the greatest??!! It just had so many awesome elements. To answer your question, I think this was the first time Lilly has killed anyone. She said in first season's "The Plan" that she had never killed anyone, and we know she hasn't since then. So unless she was lying (always a possibility), she hadn't killed anyone until this ep. I'm really curious to see how she deals with this realization next season.

This post will be a shameful copy & paste from Source Number 1. Anyway, it expresses everything I have to say about the episode. :smile14:
I've just watched The Woods. All I can say is... WOW. It was amazing. I loved everything about it--the story, the acting, the music, the camerawork, the flashbacks... everything. It's so hard to post anything intelligent on this topic, everything's been said already. In spite of being so thoroughly spoiled, I wasn't one bit disappointed--some parts even surprised me. Lilly and George in the attic... just... WOW. Great acting on both sides. It really kept me on the edge of my seat. So much emotion in only 15 minutes. Excellent work, KM and John Billingsley (sp?), not to mention Veena Sud.
There were only two weak spots, as far as I could see (and I looked very carefully). One: Lilly going to the house when it was so obviously dangerous. That part seemed a little contrived, but I understand it needed to be done. Still, it was incredibly foolhardy of her, to the point of being off-character. But oh well--it was necessary and what came afterwards made it definitely worth it. The second weak spot was at the end. It just seemed to me there should have been more visual contact, more--I don't know--feeling, I guess, after such a traumatic experience. Not just the boys walking behind her like "oh well, all in a day's work". I'm not asking for a hug, exactly, but maybe more astonishment... I dunno. After so much emotion, that part just seemed a little empty.
But never mind that. It was GREAT EPISODE. I can't stress it enough. It was like a watching a movie. And a damn good one.
... I wanted to add (this is original, just for this board ;D), poor Lilly looked SO afraid when she was alone with George, like she was sure her days were counted. She pulled herself together enough to get back at him, but you could see how terrified she was and I loved her for it, it made her so much more real to me than if she'd just been tough. Great episode all around. :smile4:

Great thoughts disasterfreak! I'm glad you finally got to see it. It's worth the wait, though. I know other members mentioned the same thing about the ending (I think it was in the chat right after the ep) that they had wanted to see a little more emotion at the end. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that part is still coming. Hopefully, the effects of Lilly's encounter will carry through to next season.

Hi Rita!
So glad you got to see the season finale. I thought the final song was a great choice. So a question I have is "whose blue eyes" were they referring to? Geogre? Lilly? or a bit of both characters?
The Woods being in the attic room was a real shocker but I sorta figured it out from the promos. Still I kinda wanted Lilly in the actual woods but maybe that would have been no contest for Lilly. She's too smart.

I thought the final song was a great choice. So a question I have is "whose blue eyes" were they referring to? Geogre? Lilly? or a bit of both characters? I always thought they were referring to Lilly. George had brown eyes, and he'd been hinting all along that Lilly was just as much of a monster as he was--only she hadn't had a chance to show it yet. It was a hidden but disturbing little message, that song. ;D

This is what I thought as well disasterfreak. When Lilly killed George, she knew what it was like "to be the bad man." Even though her action was warrented, it doesn't change the fact that she is responsible for another's death.
How great was the exact match to the change in the music in the closing montage. Lilly turns around and walks over to her co-worker just as the music changes beats and becomes more upbeat. It was so perfect. Probably one of the best mood-matching songs that Cold Case has ever used in the closing scenes.

Hey girls! It's the Byrdman just getting in touch today. I hope you wonderful ladies are all doing well today, and that the week is progressing well for you also. Mine is certainly going great! I have to agree with Disasterfrek and TVFan here. I believe you girls have the right idea. Lilly is who that song was signifying. Indeed, she has blue eyes, and she was "the bad man" (I guess, George was a psychotic serial killer who pulled a gun on her. It was either him or her as far as I can see, and I don't think that is bad). One note I remembered from the song as well (plus, this song is one of my favorites. It was from my Daddy's favorite Who album, "Who's Next?", and I grew up with it): the line I remember was: "No one knows what it's like to feel these feelings like I do. And I blame you!" Lilly was standing outside George's old house, and as the "blame you" part came on, she turned and looked at George and his mom in the window. Just another note that I believe backs up my thoughts. Thanks for listening, and take care of yourselves tonight, ladies. See ya, girls!

Great catch byrdman! It was truly amazing how dead-on the lyrics were to the actions in the closing scenes of "The Woods." Huge props to the music department!!

I hadn't noticed that, either. Love those little details, they take so much planning and it must be frustrating for them when viewers don't catch on. Good catch, byrdman! I wish I paid closer attention to the soundtracks...

Dear TVFan and Disasterfreak, Hey, girls! Thanks so much for the shout out on my notice of that part of the song. I hope that it helped you girls' interpretation of the final scene from the season finale. To TVFan: Hey, girl! I will definitely agree with you, the music department seems to have come through on so many occasions in the last two years (granted, I missed most of season one). Big shouts out to them, just like you say, girl! ;D To DF: Hey, girl! So good to hear from you, and thanks for sending a praise of mine out. I was curious, did you record the season finale? I hope so, that might have been one of the reasons that you missed parts of the soundtrack (plus, there were SO MANY things going on otherwise in that ep, I can certainly understand why you missed it). Plus, "Behind Blue Eyes" is one of my favorite songs too, so that helped. However, thanks again for your kind thoughts, girl! Take care, and have a wonderful day, girls!

Just watched this again. It's a very very difficult episode to get through; for me the darkness of the story is overwhelming. It's probably the only CC episode that I can't watch "for pleasure."
...anyways I was trying to follow the final confrontation between Lilly and George.. there's alot of going back and forth discussing motives, etc. George says alot of cryptic things about "killing" Lilly, about how they are similar in certain ways..."the only thing that separates you and I is Who pulls the trigger."
so I was thinking... What if George's gun wasn't loaded?

Interesting question irishkale. Maybe George had the whole thing planned from the beginning. It would certainly fit his character. He wanted Lilly to know what it was like to take someone's life, he wanted her to be the same as he is (in his mind), so maybe he went in there empty gun and played her. We kept thinking that George couldn't (and didn't) get the best of her, but perhaps he did. Maybe in the end, even though he died, he won. I wouldn't put it past George's sick mind. Another thing, don't cops have to go on leave after they shoot someone? I believe there is some sort of leave while the matter is investigated. I wonder if the new season will pick up with Lilly back fresh from her leave, or if she will still be serving it. **SPOILER (highlight if you'd like to read)** Maybe that's why the one who's name we shall not say's character ("Josie chippy") originally comes over to the cold case squad? I don't know, just wondering. If the latter is the case, I hope they show Lilly dealing with the incident at home (like they did with Scotty).

Interesting question irishkale. He wanted Lilly to know what it was like to take someone's life. I think you are right, George definately wanted Lilly to know what it feels like to kill someone, and probably almost hoped that she would enjoy it!! **SPOILER (highlight if you want to read)** Maybe that's why the one who's name we shall not say's character ("Josie chippy") originally comes over to the cold case squad? I don't know, just wondering. That has been exactly my thought . I think that maybe **SPOILER** this "Josie chippy" girl is kind of fill in for Lilly while she is away, either through her own choice or not and that this "Josie chippy" will just end up being kept on when Lil returns. I'm not sure how Lilly would feel about someone else taking over her job though; I be pretty pi55ed!

Interesting thoughts irishkale. Maybe we find out in the first ep of S3 and we see Lilly trying to deal with killing someone who didn't have a loaded gun.
