The Road to Parenthood

I got this idea for this story, after reading something in the news. This isn't copying what really had happened, This is something much different

After trying pratically for a long time, Lilly finds herself pregnant but not with her own child, but with Scotty's and Elisa's child instead. How does Scotty react to all of this, including the saddened feelings of his now former desceased girlfriend?

Rating- Pg-13

How do both Rush and Valens both deal with this road to parenthood, which now only includes him being the parent to be..



CHAPTER ONE


It had been a week after Lilly had received treatment to get pregnant, but somehow wasn’t expecting the lab to implant the wrong baby into her. She now had found herself lost , upset while carrying someone else’s child. Wanting to find whom the parents were, Lilly quickly found out two months later before deciding on the next course of action to take.

Upon finding out the name, her eyes widened in shocked. The father was Scotty Valens and the mother was now his deceased finace; Elisa. She knew that this might stir up some sad feelings that he still had for that woman, but yet this was his child that Lilly was now carrying.

For the next few weeks she knew that Scotty had to know, it was only right that he did. One night, Lilly knocked on the door to his apartment hoping that he would be home. Luckily he was, dressed in a white tank top and a pair of blue jeans.

“ Lil what’s up, “ seeing just how sick she looked, “Come in.”
Inside Lilly took in several deep breaths, “ You saw Saccardo and I going to that clinic, trying to get me pregnant.The clinic messed up,”

Scotty was puzzled before remembering that both him and Elisa had once used on, in an effort to use a surrogate , since she couldn’t carry to term. Glancing up, he saw this biggest fear, “ You’re carrying my child Lil?”

She nodded softly, “ I don’t know what to do, how am I going to explain this to Saccardo. Now some other person is carrying our baby, now we can’t even located that woman.” Without thinking he pulled her into an embrace, knowing that Lilly also felt weird about this as well. More important, this was his baby that was now growing inside of his partner.

He felt saddened that Elisa wasn’t going to be the mother that she had once had spoke about. Although Scotty was over her death, he still loved her. Perhaps this baby was a sign to honor her memory but yet, he didn’t know if he wanted to be a dad.

This was an emotional thing, not just for him but for Lilly whom wanted to be a mother for a long time, and that this might be the last time she could ever get pregnant.

“ Look Scotty I feel weird about this; carrying your baby. I won’t do anything unless you say something, this baby might be your last chance as well. “


Just moments after she had left, Scotty sat down slowly processing the whole story completely. He was at a dead end on this one, but knew that it would only be right to go ahead and continue the pregnancy. Besides what would Elisa think of him, giving up the baby that they had wanted long ago?

Then there was Lilly, knowing that the boyfriend of hers might leave her again. Yet between being pregnant and the possibility of this, he knew she was going to need him as a friend. It was bad enough that she wasn’t carrying her own child, but his.

Downtown, Lilly had in fact told Saccardo about this. He wasn’t angry, but saw the fear of him leaving in her eyes. Slowly he pulled her into an embrace, “ This wasn’t your fault or mine, just that we need to find the person whose carrying our kid.”

She shook her head,” I just got the call, ours hadn’t been implanted, “ she now sobbed. He took felt the heartbreak as well, “ We’ll try after this one is born, I love you.”

Later on in bed, Eddie continued to hold her close, still wondering what who the baby’s real parents were, “ You ever find out who they are?”
“ My Partner; Scotty.”

Eddie froze knowing that she was serious, “ Was Valens trying to have a baby?”

“ With his former ex- fiancé; she’s now deceased. I already told him, now what am I going to do. Can’t face him, knowing that I’m carrying his child, what’s going to happen to be after I give birth?”

He could very well understand this, before kissing her cheek, “ We’re in this together, there’s still hope for us; for our own baby.”

Lilly listened as her tears kept on streaming downward. She wanted a chance at motherhood so badly, but yet was now a surrogate mother for her partner’s baby. Closing her eyes, Lilly still dreamt about what her own motherhood would be like. It was hard to dream when they wasn’t going to happen, but inside she yearned for it.

Perhaps it was her biological clock ticking, or the feeling of simply wanting to love something of her own. Or maybe Lilly just liked the feeling of having her tummy swell of nine months, with a tiny life growing inside of its warm environment. Yet she had been jealous that other women her age were already pregnant , having kids or raising them; while she remained childless.


This coming year Lilly was going to be forty, which sent her biological clock ticking faster. Somehow her body wasn’t able to naturally conceive a baby, that is why she had gone to a clinic. She didn’t want to feel that emptiness of never having a child of her own, but now carrying Scotty’s baby; it made it worse. Lilly felt her own motherhood deep inside but yet couldn’t unleash it, wanting to experience that new stage.

She had recalled when Priscilla Chapin had once spoke about, when her son; Max was born. How she placed him onto her chest, which made Lilly want to cry. Now, her own yearning to do that, to place her own baby onto her own heart, was now nearly an ache.

More tears had ensured, which made Lilly’s heart sink even more. She wanted that chance so much, but was angry that this had happened. This was supposed to be her child, not Scotty’s, which now put her own motherhood on hold once again.

On the other side of the bed, Eddie too felt disappointed. He was looking forward to being a first time dad, but now his own joy and sadness sent more waves through his heart. Exhaling deeply, he had hoped that one day both him and Lilly would be able to have their own child.

Turning over, he could hear the sound of her sniffling. Glancing over, Eddie knew that Lilly was crying. As she turned over, facing him; he gently wiped a few tendrils of hair away from her face, “ A lot of women surrogate, but you and I are going to try again. We’re not giving up, on something that we both want.”

“ It won’t happen, “ she sobbed into his chest. Eddie knew her feelings of just how long she had waited, while rubbing her back.
The night turned into a very long and hard night for the both of them, but by the next morning, the two walked to work hand in hand. Lilly felt slightly sick, as her eyes watched a mother holding a baby in her arms. She had imagined doing that so many times, but now felt worthless and emptier inside.

Once inside headquarters, Eddie kissed her, “ I love you,” as she continued holding onto his hand tightly.

She felt sick inside, but knew that this case needed her. Upon entering the bullpen, things only had gotten worse. Both her and Scotty refused to work together, he had felt funny knowing that she was carrying his child.

It had gotten so bad that the two ended up leaving early, Lilly mainly walked around town. Her eyes watching the parents playing with their kids at the playground, something that she probably would never get to do.

Just then Scotty sat down next to her, “ Always had this thought about teaching my kid how to play baseball, never thought it would actually happen,” noticing more tears streaming down the sides of Lilly’s cheek, “ I’m scared Lil, what if I’m not a good dad?”

“ I’ve always wondered that about myself, you know how my mom was. I was ready to be one, except that this baby isn’t mine. I wanted that chance Scotty.”

He nodded, “ They shouldn’t have screwed up like that, you’ll be able to see the baby once it’s born. You’re like an aunt to it, considering that you and I are like siblings.”

That didn’t make her feel any better, “ It’s still not my child Scotty, you’ll be able to come home and be a parent, and I won’t. “
Lilly clearly was hurt by this, but he gently touched her shoulder. For awhile the two sat there in silence, before he knew that she was clearly very emotionally upset, “ You can help me, with putting together the nursery, and learning what’s like to be a parent. “

His offer was kind but she knew that perhaps it might be a good thing for her to learn. Letting out a breath, Lilly drew in a deep breath, before informing him about a sonogram. After that she went home but was surprised that Eddie was there cooking her a home-cooked meal. He was a sweetheart but very good to her.
“ Hey beautiful,” as the two shared a kiss. Lilly’s stomach growled a bit, “ Smells good, you don’t need to do this.”
Eddie immedaitly wrapped his arms around her waist, while continuing to kiss her neck. She felt her heart quickening with every beat, but upon hearing the timer he went on over to check on their dinner.

Once they were seated, Lilly couldn’t actually believe they were having a candlelit dinner. It felt romantic but yet, she ate very slowly. After everything it was hard to stomach food, somehow Lilly continued eating.
Eddie avoided any baby talk, but knew that tomorrow that he would be present at her side during the first sonogram. For now, he wanted just a quiet dinner with the woman that he loved so much. After that, he stood up offering his hand to her. Lilly accepted as the two slowed danced together, while she tried to clear her mind.

The thought of baby shopping, completely saddened her. Eddie knew it might be a good thing, especially which Scotty was going through this pregnancy alone. He could use the company, but yet Eddie himself was aching to create a nursery in Lilly’s apartment for their child. The thought of his own fatherhood meant something deeply, which couldn’t be expressed. All that he could do is, try to take one day at a time.

However Lilly went with Scotty to support him, right away at some mega baby store; she saw everything that she wanted for own child. She now reminded herself that one day she might be able to have that chance, but for now tried to remain strong.

While looking at the different cribs, Scotty had finally had chosen one out with a matching dresser and changing table. Yet as he was talking to a salesperson, Lilly had wondered off as she continued looking around, it had seemed as if everyone there was a parent or a parent to be; except for her. By the time that Scotty had finally caught up to her, he saw her looking at the many different clothes.

“You want to pick some out Lil, could use your input.”

Lilly looked up, “Shouldn’t you wait until you find out the sex, could be useful?” He sighed, “I don’t know if I want to know, kind of want to be surprised.”

“Me too, you don’t want to do everything in one day. Got awhile before I give birth, besides don’t you need a bigger place?”

He shook his head, “No, I’ll be sleeping in the living room; the baby can have my old room. Already had asked Vera and Jefferies to help me, Nick blew a fit over it. My dad’s going to help me paint the room, he’s pretty excited.”

That’s when she thought of her own father, whom hadn’t yet had that chance to be one. However the sound of Scotty’s voice broke her train of thoughts.

“How about this,” holding up a tiny sports outfit. Lilly smiled, “Don’t hold your breath, this could be a girl.”

He made a face, before she glanced over at a tiny purple outfit, “No way Lil, you know how you girls throw. I still say it’s a boy.”

Lilly wasn’t convinced, “I’m carrying it does that make any difference, and so you can’t teach a girl how to play. You’re forgetting that I did not throw like a girl during the annual softball game.”

Scotty shook his head, before paying for everything. When she wasn’t looking he bought her something, hoping to lift her spirits. Once they were driving home, he handed over a bag. Inside was a blanket. This almost made Lilly cry, “It’s beautiful, why?”

“For your own future kid, you deserve to be a mom. Have it in you to be one,” which made her hug him. While holding the blanket closer, several tears streamed down her face. Scotty could see an ache to physically be a mother, “You’ll have your chance, besides I could use your help after it’s born. “

That’s where she had glared at him, “Thought you’d be calling Kat,” her glare turning into a smile.

Scotty chucked, “No way, Miller would kill me. Besides you’re the baby’s aunt, and my best friend.”

By the third month, Lilly had started to show. Not that she hated it, but it made her feel a bit more maternal. Plus the fact that Scotty was reminded her that she was glowing even more now. While helping him putting together the changing table, he glanced over, “Is the baby moving yet?”

“No, just tired. Been reading that baby book on development, it’s pretty interesting. Kind of makes me feel bit more maternal.”

Scotty smiled, “You look beautiful Lil, “making her blush. Lilly laughed softly before getting up, “Let me make us a sandwich, I’m starved.”
“You just ate”, as she proceeded towards the kitchen. Once opened up the refrigerator, Lilly saw tons of takeout, knowing that Scotty had nothing good inside. Even the orange juice was expired plus the milk; by all means he practically lived on takeout
.
Upon coming in, Scotty noticed how Lilly was cleaning out his refrigerator, “That messy Lil?”

“Messy, everything in here is expired. How are you going to even be a dad, when you have this in here?” Scotty took the milk carton from her hand, “Look this is my apartment Lil, and I take care of everything.”
Lilly grew frustrated, “Your baby doesn’t need to live off of expired food or take out. You are going to learn how to cook,”

He made a face, which caused her to throw a towel at him, “You do Lil, how’s that even possible?”

“Saccardo taught me, therefore I will teach you. Got to learn sometime, and before you get to meet your baby.”

Once the fridge had been cleaned out and replaced with proper food, Lilly set to work while teaching Scotty how to cook basic things. This mini cooking lesson happened every week, except one day while she was showing him something, Lilly felt something move in her stomach.
“Feel this,” Placing his hand onto her stomach, “The baby just moved, “causing the two to each looks at one another.

Scotty was awed but yet felt strange, while Lilly felt a burst of love for this child, “Sure it ain’t kicking Lil?”

“No it’s moving, pretty weird huh. Now I want a cheese steak with cheese wiz”, which caused him to laugh, “Your sounding more like me, since when do you actually eat one Lil.”?

Lilly pointed to her stomach, as Scotty proceeded to rub it. He felt a surge of love for his child, but yet knelt down to rest his head on Lilly’s stomach. She let him do it, while hearing him speaking several words in Spanish. Already her maternal instincts were growing stronger, by the minutes as Scotty now got up.

Part I of the next chapter

However that’s when the phone calls had started at night, with Scotty asking if Lilly was hungry, It had gotten to the point that Eddie had practically yelled at him. He couldn’t stand just one more minute of this guy’s freqrent calling. When he was out late doing a drug bust, Scotty would drop by with food for her.

This time he noticed that her stomach was growing a bit bigger, which had made him smile. Just the look on her face, told him that she was already falling in love with this baby; his baby; but it hurt Scotty to know that she wasn’t going to be a mother to it once it was born. While settling the food down on the table, he stood there before placing his hand onto her stomach.

“ What’s that smell?”

Lilly made a face, “ Cocoa Butter, reduces stretch marks,” which had him also making a face,” Grow up Scotty, “ before grabbing the bag, “ I told you no burgers I wanted Tacos.”

He shook his head, “ Get your order straight never next time Lil, “ seeing her pointing to her stomach,” Don’t blame this on my kid either.”
“ Well that’s who is making me eat at 10pm at night. Besides I wanted soft Tacos with hot sauce,” she pouted. Scotty could see her own enjoyment of this..

Just then Lilly brought up her hand to rest on her stomach, she could feel it’s ever movement, “I’m still hungry, “reaching over to dial Eddie’s number. Scotty sighed before leaving her apartment; it appeared that even while pregnant Lilly was still driving him crazy.

In the meantime, she ate what he had got for her, until Eddie had brought come a small cup of frozen yogurt.

When Eddie had finally gotten home, he knew that someone else had brought her over something eat. He didn’t like it at all, “Did Valens stop by, I don’t know with something for you to eat?”

Lilly acted all innocently, which had him staring into her blue eyes, until Eddie had realized it, was true. He for one didn’t like it, “Why Lil, could have texted me?”

“Are you forgetting that it’s Scotty’s kid that I’m carrying,” which had Eddie pausing. She smiled in amusement, “I think you really want to be a dad.”

He nodded, before sitting down on the bed. Lilly could see the hurt that was scattered onto his face, but it was the truth. Perhaps this whole pregnancy thing wasn’t good for him, but he too wanted so badly to be a father, it hurt.

Getting back onto why Scotty had stopped by, Eddie still didn’t like it, “He’s not to come around here anymore, I mean it Lil.”

“You act like we are having an affair, and we’re not. So what he brought over food, we could have vaguely discussed the case or the latest gossip on ADA Bell and Miller’s relationship,”

Eddie still wasn’t impressed nor was his happy, before he went into the bathroom. Lilly continued eating her chocolate frozen yogurt, while grinning amusement.

The man was clearly jealous but becoming more protective over her. So much so when he came out, he had a face on,” Don’t let me catch him in our house again.”

Lilly looked up,” Our house, since when is it our house Saccardo? You don’t live here, nor are you secretly going to propose to me?”
He made a face, “You know what you are saying,” seeing the tears forming in Lilly’s eyes.

Her question hadn’t been answered, and plus her hormones were the result of this. Sitting down, Eddie lifted up her head, “I love you Lil, and I just want to protect the woman that I love.”

“That’s not reason why I’m crying,” she sobbed loudly. Eddie rolled his eyes, as she continued to complain about everything.

Not once in their relationship he ever heard her complaining about herself, but it was typical pregnancy hormones.

Knowing where this was headed, he took several pillows before heading downstairs to sleep on the sofa. It wasn’t that comfortable either, but somehow Lilly finally came down to check on him, “ You alright there?”
He groaned, “ Did this have to end up this way, with me sleeping on your couch?”

“ No I just get this way. Guess it’s pregnancy related or something, I’m sorry,” as his hand reached over to touch her face. Lilly didn’t want him to leave her, “ You can come back up if you want, I need you here with me.”

Right away he followed, but around 2am, Eddie groaned hearing her turning over. Luckily she was still very much fast asleep, while he continued watching her.

Then his mind thought about the baby, knowing that it be awhile before they would try again. He wanted so much for Lilly to be carrying their own child.

It wasn’t right, though she was going to have an extremely tough time once the baby had been born.

Once Lilly had entered her forth month, her stomach had gotten a lot bigger. However Eddie thought that she was extremely beautiful, being pregnant. This didn’t do anything for her, in fact she hated feeling fat, and complained loud as ever about it. Even at work, everyone took notice about the way that Lilly was behaving.

It wasn’t right, but Scotty knew it was just her hormones that were during the talking. Somehow her cravings also worsened, causing him to run out all hours of the day in order to get her something to eat. Whether it was getting some cheese steak over at Geno’s or tacos from Taco Bell, Scotty was getting pretty tired from running all over Philly in order or Satisfy Lilly’s cravings.

One minute she wanted ice cream, the next she wanted a fruit salad containing all organic fruits. Lilly now wasn’t the only one whom was pregnant; Kat was as well; with ADA Bell’s kid. Having two pregnant women was certainly driving all the detectives crazy. Lilly was by far the worst, with her frequent mood swings and odd cravings.

“It’s like you’re hungry all the time, “Scotty said, “Baby ever get tired of eating?”
Lilly looked up,” Yeah but its kicks feel like its punching rather than kicking. Kid’s got your attitude down to a tee.”

He shook his head, before seeing her rubbing her stomach, “That bad huh,” as he too rested his hand there. Scotty felt the flutters knowing that his child was actively kicking inside of Lilly; he wanted to kiss her stomach to let the baby know that he loved it. Being that it was Lilly, and the fact that Eddie might beat him up, he decided against it.

However the baby didn’t let up with its kicking, even while Lilly was doing an interrogation. She let out a breath, while her hand continued rubbing her stomach. She couldn’t help it, but it felt maternal to be doing that; soothing a baby that was growing inside of her.

Once done with the interrogation, Scotty noticed that Lilly was glowing radiantly even more now. She was downright beautiful, but he kept his mouth shut. If Eddie had heard a word about this, there was no telling what he might do.

When everyone else was out, Scotty glanced over, “You do look amazingly beautiful Lil.”
Lilly smiled softly, “I know Saccardo’s already told me a million times, I think he prefers me like this.”
“ Your doing a good job taking care of my kid,” he said before handing her a single pink rose, “ For you, thought you might need some cheering up.”

This made her chuckle,” Saccardo is going to pester me about who gave this to me, you didn’t have to Scotty,” seeing him still looking over at her, “Are you falling in love with me or something?”
Just then the two spotted ADA Bell and Kat kissing, while his hand gently stroked her stomach, lovingly, “Talk about an odd couple.”

While Lilly’s stomach had seem to get bigger daily, she also had faced now dinner with her father and his family. She had remembered that she didn’t even inform him of the bad news, but yet never had told him about her pregnancy. It had seemed as if the only people who knew were the members of her own squad.

As she stood in front of the mirror, in a pair of maternity jeans and a top; Lilly actually liked looking pregnant. Her face wasn’t full of awe or happiness but the same emptiness that it always had shown, before Eddie wrapped both of his arms around her waist. The two then looked at their own reflections, seeing just how much, they were yearning for a child of their own.

Lilly exhaled silently, “ Baby’s having the hiccups,” while the two both felt that. She wanted to be a mother so much that now, her maternal instints were extremely high. What would happened after it was born, she had wondered? Would Scotty actually let her see the baby, but what if she this pregnancy was indeed the last chance that she had to get pregnant?

Her tears began falling softly, while the baby stirred inside. Eddie also had noticed this, “ I’m sure Scotty would let you see the baby, you’re his partner,” he murmured softly. Her heart ached to hold this baby in her arms and love it, “ It’s weird I already love this baby.”

Eddie knew that tonight her father just wanted her over for dinner, but he completely understood, “ No matter what, you already have a connection to this baby. It’s either your little niece or nephew, that’s a good thing.”

His lips met up with hers, while love sped throughout their hearts, though it was just a short and simply kiss; it still had meant something, “ I’ll be fine, you staying here tonight?”

“ You want me to?” he asked. Lilly nodded while her eyes twinkled with love, “ I love you,” before leaving to head on over to New Jersey.
Although her father wasn’t happy about what had happened, he still remained very supportive for her.
Paul could see just how maternal she had gotten, but didn’t mention anything else about the baby. During dinner his wife; Celeste opened her mouth; expressing her own feelings about this. Her father didn’t allow her to go on.


Instead he excused himself from the table to have a little talk with his wife. Somehow this caused Lilly to leave early, but on the way back her car had broken down and it was pouring out. Checking her phone, she saw that it was dead. Luckily she was in Philly but however she was exactly three blocks from her house.

While walking fast, a car sped past her while going through a large puddle; saturating her even more. Lilly groaned loudly, while trying to get home. Plus she was now hungry, wet , cold and almost five months pregnant. Somehow she made it, but upon reaching the front door to her apartment; Lilly tried to get the key into the lock with no avail.

Just then Eddie opened up the door, seeing just how wet she was, he immedaitly grabbed a blanket and draped it around her; before she landed up in his arms.

With her heart pounding, Lilly knew she was safe again, “ What happened?”

“ The Car broke down three blocks from here, glad I’m home,” as he led her upstairs. Once she had changed into something warm, Eddie glanced over at her. Lilly was wearing a grey pair of pants and his t-shirt which clearly was showing more of her swelling abdomen.


His hands glided onto her bare skin, while continuing to look into her blue eyes. That when their lips had come together. The morning after making love, Eddie awoke to see her still very much asleep. She looked so beautiful yet glowing, while being pregnant. Not to mention that one of her hands was resting on her stomach.

With a tiny kiss, he could help but to wonder what she was carrying inside. The problem was he felt heartbroken about this whole thing.

While Lilly continued to sleep, Eddie’s hand gently stroked her abdomen, as he held her close. He knew once it had been born, that indeed it would break him. Not to mention all the dreams he was having about himself being a father. He had dreamt about having the baby lying on his chest, being soothed by the sound of his heartbeat.

It wasn’t just that, it was the joy of creating a nursery in the next room; which now remained empty. Eddie knew that inside of that room was a mixture of both of their dreams of their parenthood; that now remained just a dream. Upon feeling the baby kicking, Eddie gently rubbed her stomach. He felt the buildup of love for it, but yet couldn’t express.



Lilly now started to stir, as she opened up her eyes. The look on his face was quite paternal, “ Thinking about the baby?”

“ Yeah,” noticing just how sleepily she still was, “ Go back sleep Lil,” he whispered softly, kissing her cheek. Lilly also felt the kicks as well, “ Can’t the baby’s kicking non-stop.”

His hand now rested on top of hers, “ Been having dreams about us being parents, realizing that your due date is on my birthday, that would be everything to have our baby be born on that day.”

Moving a tendril of hair away from her face, Lilly could see that this whole thing was making their love grow stronger for each other.

“ Scotty wants me to come over in the afternoon to help me decorate the nursery some more, “ as Eddie exhaled deeply. She placed her hand on his heart, “ I know you, had a dream about me coming down late at night; seeing the baby lying on your chest. How much we both in that moment felt happy.”

Eddie sighed once again, “ Guess we’ll just have to wait then, “he said kissing her cheek.


Later on, as Lilly was in the middle of helping Scotty with the nursery; she turned up the radio; as he made a face, “ Turn that off.”
“ It’s AC/DC, Scotty relax.

I need something besides the music you listen to, “ which had him immedaitly going for the radio before Lilly stood in front of it, “ No way, “ as a Nirvana song began playing. He relaxed which had her shaking her head, “ Oh so Nirvana is alright but not AC/DC, you have exactly no taste.”

Scotty shook his head, “ So you think this color is good for a baby,” which was obvious that a light yellow color was just perfect. Lilly smiled, “ It is, it’s calming. You don’t have a rocking chair, you might need to buy one.”

He frowned, “ I ain’t rocking my kid in a rocking chair Lil.”, the thought of him doing that made her laugh. Besides Scotty had still no clue about being a father, “ Miller bought me one of those baby slings, and a gift certificate.”

“ That was nice,”

Scotty put down his cup of soda, “ Plus she’s throwing me a baby shower,” that immedaitly made Lilly drop something. Her face was in shock, yet she was pining for one herself. After all she was indeed pregnant.

“ It’s my kid Lil, so logically the shower’s for me,” which had her glaring at him, “ Look they made that mistake, I didn’t ask to be a dad. If anyone should be its Saccardo, he’s got that certain look to him.”
Lilly’s glares were serious, “ Then in that case, the shower should be for both of us. I’m carrying your baby, whom might be my niece of nephew. “

His attitude worsened, “ Look now, it’s my shower not yours. You ain’t even a mother,” this immediately sent tears flowing through her eyes; before Lilly left his apartment.

With all this emotional stress, Lilly was feeling several sharp pains in her stomach. They had gotten so severe that Eddie had to rush her immediately down to her doctor’s office. While the transducer was being moved around her abdomen, the two watched the baby on the screen. Both were in awe over what the doctor was pointing out.

In fact it was a surreal feeling, to be seeing everything, “The baby’s healthy, no sign of it being distress; could just be your nerves.”

Lilly’s eyes were on the screen, as the doctor continued moving the wand around, “You can both see it kicking, “which awed them. Eddie felt more love for this baby, in his heart. Yet he wanted so much, to have his chance to be that father that he had always had wanted to be. This wasn’t the time to be discussing this, not when he saw the look on Lilly’s face.

After the sonogram, the doctor then exited. However the two were already smitten by what they had just seen, “I know but in a week, Scotty needs to be here.”

Her hand gently wiped off the gel, “What if this is inside is a girl, that’s I’ve always had wanted?”

“Whatever it is boy or girl; the baby will always be close to your heart Lil. That’s what I love about you; you have this caring and loving side that made me want to be with you. Not even this whole mess up would could tear you and me apart.”

Lilly let out a sigh,” I let myself get Jealous of wanting a baby shower, guess being pregnant makes me feel a certain way.”
That he could certainly understand, “You have a right to be there, you’re also the baby’s aunt. You’ve also done a good job taking care of this baby.”


Lilly went back over to Scotty’s apartment, he looked worried about hearing what had happened, “Did the doc say anything?”

“ No the baby’s healthy, got a strong heartbeat though. Plus we saw it kicking; it’s amazing to see something that’s growing inside of you.”

Her t-shirt was enough to show a tiny bit of her growing abdomen, as Scotty slid his hand onto her pale skin, “Go ahead, it’s your baby.”
He placed his other hand on her stomach as well, as few emotions were spread onto his face; awe, wonder and love, “ Hard to believe that my kid’s doing that,” referring to the fact that it was kicking.

Lilly smiled, “I think that Saccado’s pretty smitten over feeling this as well, he’s getting pretty paternal. Hard to think how he will be once the baby is born.”

Taking his hand off her stomach, Scotty handed her a book. Together they read up about the currently development of the baby, he kept on looking over, “So the baby can hear your heartbeat, breathing and voice?”

Lilly nodded, which amazed him as well. She felt warm thinking about the fact that the baby was comforted by the sound of her heartbeat. He then leaned over speaking in Spanish, which had her looking at him puzzled, “You don’t have to raise your voice Scotty, the baby can hear you. See it’s moving, probably scared it.”

He made a face, “I doubt that one Lil, my kid,” as she interrupted, “Kid, haven’t you thought of some baby names yet?”

When he didn’t answer Lilly had a few, “How about Megan, Ava, or Abigail?” which had him frowning, “I ain’t naming my daughter that, besides I think it’s a boy.”

She rolled her eyes, “and what do you base that theory on Detective, besides what would Elisa want?”

It was a good thing that Scotty had already had gotten past and accepted her death, a few years back, “Elisa wanted a girl, and a boy. Kept on speaking about having twins, good thing I’m going getting one baby.”

While looking through a baby name book, Lilly found several names that she liked, “ What about this, goes well with your last name.”
Scotty sighed, “ Jacob Valens, my kid would get beat up on the playground. You know what let me figure out a name for my baby, “ snatching the book out of her hands, “ I can read Lil, don’t need to highlight ever single name in the entire book.”

“ Well I have a lot of time on my hands,” she said. He stared at her, “ Time Lil, that’s a first. That ain’t a girl so get it out of your mind, Rush.”

That night, Eddie leaned over to see that Lilly was reading, “A baby name book, you deciding to name Valens unborn baby?”

“No just researching for when we have our own baby, “which had her moving closer to him. Together the two were reading through the book, but he clearly had noticed that they were all girls’ names. None the less, it was pretty interesting to see just how many names there actually were, “So why did no one ever call you Lillian, which is your first name?”

Lilly put down the book, “ I don’t know, everyone’s always called me Lilly, “ which had him asking the question of what her middle name was. She shook her head, while feeling him massaging her back. He had very talented hands, when it came back massages.

Closing her eyes, she continued to enjoy this. Being now five months pregnant and having a lot of stress wasn’t a good thing. Just by sitting there, with the man that she loved more than anything else; who was giving her a wonderful, relaxing massage.

“Where did you learn how to massage like that, “she asked feeling Eddie’s lips kissing the side of her neck. That was yet another thing; the man really knew how to love her. Especially not many would stick by her side during all of this; however Eddie was someone who truly cared about her in every which way.

Eddie still was curious about what her middle name was, “You going to tell me or what?”
“Anne; Lilly Anne Rush,” seeing his face, “What you expecting something else?”
He chuckled, before kissing her neck some more. She was amazed how curious he was about her, but yet never saw her as someone that had too many problems.

While continuing to read the book together, Lilly grew hungrier, “I could go for a hot- fudge sundae,” as Eddie groaned, “and a pizza.”
He heard the rain pounding on the windows, “No way is I going out, but there’s ice cream downstairs, and “while giving her a kiss, don’t miss me too much when I’m gone”.

Upon coming back, Lilly licked her lips, “You trying to make me fat, Saccardo?” she teased. Eddie then added some marshmallows to it, “Enjoy,”

While the two were continuing to look through a baby name book, Scotty had such a headache from his mother driving him insane. She was non-stop with how to decorate the baby’s room, plus wanting to know the woman that was carrying her grandchild.

Rubbing his head, Scotty immediately put his foot down, “Look Mom, she’s a friend of mine; and my partner. It just happened to be a mix up that caused her to be carrying my kid, instead of hers. “

However the older woman continued speaking to him in Spanish, before she finally had left. Once surrounded by silence, Scotty took out a photo of his unborn child and carefully studied it. He now had to figure out what to tell his child, but yet couldn’t explain fully how to even go about in telling it.

Even the next morning, when he joined both Lilly and Eddie at the doctor’s office; Scotty could see just how big that Lilly was getting.
In fact, she looked fashionable in her maternity clothes; which had told him that she had a good sense of fashion. Scotty clearly was nervous, so nervous that he had raced into the bathroom, just as Lilly’s name had been called out.

When he came inside, he felt his stomach turning again. Clearly his own fatherhood was beginning to set in, as usual Lilly lay back. At this point, Scotty was in the bathroom, sick again. He finally came out, just as the doctor asked him a question, :” Do you want to know the sex of the baby”

“ I’ll wait until it’s born,” which had Eddie also in agreement. If this was his own child, he’d personally wait as well. A surprise birth would be in his mind, the happiest day of his life and Lilly’s. However Scotty moved closer, while watching the baby on the screen.

He was glad that Lilly was eating right and taking care of both her and the baby as well. She was handling pregnancy very well, in which Scotty always had said. Just after it was over, he had noticed something on her stomach, “Something move?”

“ Yeah it’s kicking again, “ which had Scotty in awe. Very slowly he gently rubbed the gel off of her stomach, before letting his hand rest, “ Hey you, “ he whispered, “ You kicking In there huh, keeping Aunt Lilly awake all night?”

All three of them laughed softly, “ I love you,” he finally had said, “I think you already like me,”
Together they watching the tiny flutters appearing on Lilly’s abdomen, she loved that feeling of having a tiny life inside of her
