Okay, so I finally burned a CD today! I used Roxio Digital Media Experience. It asked me if I wished to make another copy of the same thing and I said YES. When it got to 98 % copied, it froze. I had to power off my computer. Now what do I do? The copying was not complete and it's a CD-R!

Check the CD: if you were (very) lucky the copying was completed before the freezing; otherwise you have to recopy your CD because the data on a CD-R is permanently written on the disc (unless you used the multisession option, which allows you to add on more data to the disc later if there is still space available on the disc...but it doesn't resolve your problem)

I finally checked my laptop for viruses. My laptop is now virus yet I still have problems with the internet. Mainly with facebook. Everytime I try to change the page a box comes up saying SEND or DONT SEND. I click DONT SEND then I loose the page then it says PAGE RECOVERED, and then goes back to the last page I was on. However sometimes instead of going back to the page I was on it will say UNABLE TO RETURN YOU TO THE PREVIOUS PAGE, something like that. Any one know what the problem is? Nobody else has any problems with facebook like I do.

I've had it for a while. I use XP and Internet Explorer 8. Hm, I barely use IE, not if I do have a choice. You say, there is a pop-up, asking you to send or not to send? That sounds like one of the typical, irritating security pop-ups of IE, telling you something like that you're now about to enter a less secure connection (not sure, what exactly it says in English). Do you have a screenshot of it?

I need to get off now, and get some rest. I'll try getting it tomorrow to show up what happens.

I cant get a screencap of it but I will explain it in more detail. A little grey box comes up saying: There hazs been a problem that occured with the page, do you want to let Microsoft no? Then it has three boxes saying : Debug, Dont Send or Send. You click dont send and it recovers the page or it says something like can not return you to previous page. It happens mainly on facebook, mostly when uploading photos. What could cause this?

Besides, that I highly recommend using a different browser ... *coughs* It sounds like your IE does have problems with some scripts, could be ActiveX, Java. Do you have the most recent versions installed of a) IE8, b) Java? If not, do so. Do you have the problems since installing IE8 or did they start later? If the latter, set security settings of IE back to standard and see if it works again. Use something like CCleaner (it's freeware) to get rid off of a lot of crap of cookies and temp files. Use it as well to quite safely clean up your registry and debug it that way. It does look for activ-x elements and cleans that up too. Deactivate add-ons (go to tools menue > manage add-ons) and try again. If it works now, then reactivate the add-ons only one after the other, thus you should be able to figure out, what add-on causes problems. If that doesn't change a thing. Well, can try to find the needle in the haystack (takes time and ruins nerves), but it's eventually better to simply reinstall IE8 (though can take time too and ruins nerves as well, but hopefully less). Here a quite good description of how to do it. With XP there might be a little problem if you had servicepack 3 installed after IE8, but it's possible to get around that one. And if that doesn't help, uhm, coming back to my first advice - use a different browser. For example I use for social media sides like Facebook mostly Flock (it's based on Firefox and has a nice photo-uploader integrated), for boards like here Opera and for other web stuff Firefox - but I am a crazy geek if it comes to that.

Okay, I wasn't really paying attnetion the first time I read your suggestion, I went over it and realise I don't have clue what you mean. I don't really know anything about computers. Do you mind sending me personal message explaining it? I dont really know about programs.

My computer keeps on freezing every program, Windows Explorer, Windows Mail.. It's very slow after it hits the main screen at start up, I have to wait six minuts before I can use the computer.
Other programs like Photoshop are fine, it's just that it freezes to the point that i have to manually shut down and restart my computer..

Do you mind sending me personal message explaining it? I dont really know about programs. Uhm, okay. You do have a basic idea what a program is, what a browser, right ... I will try, but have a few other things on my mind at the moment, so might take a few days. Mine has been very slow. I'm wondering if it has to do with my Norton 360 always running the background? Naj, could be. Not sure about Norton 360, but some Security, Anti-Virus + Firewall, programs do eat up some of the memory (not going into detail here about main memory or RAM, cache) and CPU. Imagine memory (RAM) as a kind of lane to and fro the storage hall (hard disc) and the working hall (CPU, or what you get to see on screen, so to speak) of a factory. To make a program work, you have to get packages from storage to the working hall and back. Mostly the size of the lane is seen as the major problem in PC performance, though, looking at the image, of course organization and size of CPU and organization of storage (less size here) can have effects as well. The bigger the lane the faster the workers in the working hall get what they need to process a program and produce results - those results are send back to storage, more or less, using the same lane. Some programs create more traffic on the lane than others btw. They are memory intensive. Photoshop is one of them. Vista as well produces lots of traffic on it's own already. At the beginning of a working day (computer start), tons of packages (information) are going through that lane at the same time, or they try to, needed to start working. The more programs are starting with your computer, the more traffic especially at that point. Later, when the machines are running, they need only to exchange smaller packages or less frequently. (Fun to watch a CPU and RAM meter display). A slow or freezing program or computer you can imagine as a kind of traffic jam, worse a standstill, or packages not finding the right target. Can have different reasons. Problem in the working hall (CPU), problems on the lane, problems even with storage. If it freezes often, can be a sign, that it's not a software thing but that hardware should be checked (there are programs for that, but that's definitely going beyond Tech for Dummies) Hope that image does give a bit of clue what's going on. Though not give you an answer, what to do about a slow computer. One thing could be finding a different security program, that uses less memory but still is good. A process manager can help to find the process /program slowing things down. But, uhm, alright, I am a little to tired now to think of a simple good one to use for you. LII Possibly there are too many programs starting with windows. Some programs like to write themselves into the startup/autorun process, though it's mostly more of an annoyance than useful. It's like warming up the motor of your car a day before you even might think of using it actually. Or to stay in the picture: they transport packages to the working hall, though you're not really using the program right at the beginning. Sense is mostly to have a faster start when you use them, to kinda put them on-call duty, but unfortunately that slows down the start process of the computer. Hm, unfortunately right now don't have a good autorun or startup manager on mind either, that could be helpful to have a better control. The one I use might be a little to much if you don't know a thing about computer. There is a startup folder, but it shows often only a fraction of what is actually starting with windows. Will look for one.

Ok, I did what you told me with the add-ons, I disabled them, then enabled them one by one. But I accounted a problem, now cant even get my inbox up on facebook. I haven't reinstalled Internet Exploerer 8, should I try reinstalling that, or what other advice to do you have. I cant upload photos, it wont let me. I am not having the dont send messages come up, but the inbox is not loading, which makes it hard for me to do anything.

I have norton 2010. Once I get the new windows OS ( Windows 7), it might help to clear up the problems that I've been having.

See, you're a step closer to become a computer nerd. Too bad it didn't solve the problems you have. Send you pm about reinstalling IE8. But before that, maybe try this: 1. Add Facebook to your trusted sites in IE - Tools - Internet Options - Security - Trusted Sites. if no change then, 2. IE - Tools - Internet Options - Security Tab - click reset all zones to default - Apply / OK 3. renew Java, go to this side for download: www.java.com/en/Otherwise, before digging any deeper into settings, yep, might be faster + better to reinstall IE8.
