Before I try to answer.
- How much RAM do you have on your computer? - Do you have other programs? - Any in the background?

Alright, this isn't a question, so much as it is a collection of tips that I hope will help some of you.
-If you want to make your computer run faster (without adding more RAM)
1. Most computers will have unneeded programs running in the background. These programs take up unneeded memory. To stop them from running; push down CTRL+ALT+DELETE. Depending on your computer one of two things will happen.
- A task manager will appear - Another menu will appear. If you get this option, choose "Run task manager"
When you see the program, look for a tab that says "Processes" and hit the "name" tab. All the programs will be listed according to who's running them. Stop as many programs under your name as you can.
- WARNING: DO NOT EXIT THE PROGRAM EXPLORER.EXE DOING SO WILL CAUSE YOUR COMPUTER TO BLANK AND YOU WILL NEED TO RESTART.
2. Computer manufacturers are notorious for installing "crapware" on their machines. Trial programs that nobody really needs. There is a program called 'pcdecrapifier' which will find all the crapware and get rid of it. I recommend it.

Where do i get this program? and will it interfere with my Norton 360? And, as is the case, Norton will probably give me a warning not to open the file - then what do I do? Thanks for those tidbits, TRB. I also read that keeping stuff on the desktop takes a lot of space too. What space is that - RAM? Or it's just a general thing that keeping files/programs on the desktop slows down the loading of pages. Or is the slowing down of loading pages a different type of problem?

pcdecrapifier.comand it shouldn't interfere with Norton 360. Yes, it is the RAM. The more items you have on the desktop, the slower your computer will be.

A have a C Drive and a D Drive as Backup. I guess both are together in the hard ware and the D Drive is not something external.
TRB's response:
Now what do I need to know?
~~~~~~
TRB said:
What if I don't recognize a program? How do I know it may or may not be pertinent to the operating of my computer?
Naj, if you could tell us the brand and model number of your computer (for example, Dell 1520 is my laptop), that would allow us to look up your computer and perhaps show you which drive is which. If you come across programs you don't recognize, don't touch them just yet; if you want to post them here we can probably do a little Google digging. Most of what TRB is talking about is the stuff that comes pre-installed with your computer, though. For example, my friend's new laptop came with this desktop search, an anti virus program, among other things, that were entirely useless.
Did you get yours custom made? Okay. Quick test. The top should be E, the bottom F. Open the top CD tray, and put in any CD. Then go to start > My Computer. Note which drive has the CD in it.
You said "F" is the writing drive.
Not quite did I answer my question because I don't know what the Writing Drive means. ;D Which drive do I put the CD from which I wish to copy? I have a Bruce Springsteen CD here. Which drive should it go in and which drive should the blank CD go in?
Put the Springsteen in either drive, it shouldn't matter. The blank CD has to go into the F drive.
Thank you Trublu. Now I just need to find time to mess with this. Another question, I see Look Again has a twitter site. I do have a Twitter account. Can I respond to your twitters, Trublu, for Look Again? And how do I respond? Also I need to know because I've yet not asked Michael Levine, the Cold Case Score Composer, my questions. And I'd like to be able to do so. pcdecrapifier.comand it shouldn't interfere with Norton 360. Yes, it is the RAM. The more items you have on the desktop, the slower your computer will be. Okay which version do I use? There's a link just to run it and it will take stuff off my computer automatically. I don't want to do that. I want something that gives me a list that I can copy/paste so I can post it here for Trublu and you and others to give your advice on.
If you want to respond in the form of a Tweet (aka, twitter post of your own), just put: @twitterusername So to the board, it would be: @lookagainforums You can also "direct message" someone, a little like PMs. Just go to the "direct message" tab on the right.
Naj - Version 2.0.0 and it won't automatically delete them. It gives you a list of programs, check the ones you want to delete. For example, I have it on, and I have these programs listed. MicrosoftOffice 60 Day Trial.ink - Icon Norton Anti Virus 60 daytrial.ink - icon Rhapsody.ink - icon Corel Photo Downloader - Start up program Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 - Program Microsoft Office Activation Assistance 2007 - Program Remove Empty Program Folders - Program I have checked next to Corel Photo Downloader, because start up programs take up a lot of memory, and remove empty program folders. So copy and paste your list here, and we'll help you out.
