I'm taking your suggestion from the other thread, morwenna, and continuing the "3 cast members won't be in all 22 episodes" discussion over in this thread.
Anyway, this sounds very credible to me for two reasons: 1) it came from a cast member on the show who is one of the three, and 2) the only way CC was getting picked up for another season was if it cut its costs considerably. Cutting the number of episodes for some of the cast is a sure-fire, easy way to cut a nice chunk of the costs for the season. I remember reading a quote in an article with (I think) Jennifer Johnson in which she stated that the music budget was not going to be one of the cost cuts. That leaves the network and the studio little wiggle room because the music budget is very expensive on CC.
To clarify another point from the previous thread -- the network, show, cast members and studio would most certainly know this sort of information already. This is the sort of thing that gets negotiated when the network and studio are trying to come to a deal to keep the show on the air. Certain concessions had to be made, and this is, I'm sure, just one of them. The operating budget had to come down significantly for CC to get a season 7. Since the show was picked-up, we can all assume that many compromises were made and sacrificing 3 cast members' episode count (and thus, cutting their salaries a bit) was a big one. As the summer goes on, I'm sure we'll hear about more cuts.

I just hope they don't begin to make only recent cases because I can see that in Season 6 we didn't have a REAL OLD CASE(1910-1949).
I would not mind the music budget. They can get very good music from independant artists. Not all the time but for some episodes

I think that in first or last episode 7 season CC we should hear AC/DC "Thunderstruck" or Evanescence "Bring me to life"(especially for first episode). Old cases are the best, so mysterious and you don't know what will be end of this story....

I really do think they should cover the Beatnik era from the late 50s to early 60s or at least about the movie industry/music industry. Has any of the writers have any plan on doing another sports related cold case like soccer or hockey? If they did soccer I think it would more likely be a recent one... Has any of them done an episode similar to the fan fiction from 1966s do no harm? I would love to see a case from 1966...

If they do something about music, I think the hip hop era in the 1994-1997 era would be a great one because of the east coast, west coast situation with the Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. Also being that both murder case are still unsolved till this day. It would be a way to look into the music industry.

I am so happy that Eddie's back, but only three episodes; perhaps it's not really a relationship but well see.
It reminds me of what Lilly had said back in S6 "So you'll drop me secret notes and I'll promise not the blow your cover". Hmm...
