Sooo..............what do you guys think about Ray 'leaving' for sunny Cali'?
Keeping in mind, we all know Ruda's point of view for this one.
Girl, I'm completely with you, couldn't agree with you more.
Bring on 'The Ray', keep 'The Ray', chain 'The Ray' to something if it'll stop him from leaving. I'm sure Lilly will so graciously let us borrow her cuffs for such an occasion.
Personally, I'm inclined to think Ray won't leave. Or he will, but'll end up coming back.
Lilly and him will fall into their old routine, ba-da bing, ba-da boom. ( No pun intended there. )

I think Ray should stay in California, he isn't around that much and likes the fact of being single and not being attached to anyone unlike Lilly.

I think he has to come back so he and Lil can try the whole relationship thing now that they're adults. It just seems like she needs to know either way with him and the only way to find out is to have him come back and let them try it out. If it fails, then at least she won't let her wondering ruin another relationship like it did with Joseph. If it works, then their sort of epic story gets a little more epic. And on a completely superficial note, he's very cute and they have a tremendous amount of fire between them. That's worth exploring in my book!

Each to their own, LongIslandItalian2, each to their own. Although, I do see your point there. Ray does seem to give off the impression of favouring the 'no strings attached' status. I also think the reason he isn't around too much, is cos he lives in New Jersey, I think. Said something about it during the 'goodbye scene'. Saving Sammy, right? But just some food for thought, he DID ask Lilly to marry him once upon a time. Although they obviously didn't go thru with it, it seems that Lilly's still a huge part of his life, and him, hers. That one woman he can't shake. I think his actions are a little more deep-seeded than showing up on her doorstep unannounced because he's feeling a little.....well.....lets keep this clean and say 'lonely'. Well, technically it's more like the gutter of Philly PD Head Quarters, but you get my meaning. If it works, then their sort of epic story gets a little more epic. Nicely put. Couldn't agree with you more TV FAN.And on a completely superficial note, he's very cute and they have a tremendous amount of fire between them. That's worth exploring in my book! Not surprisingly, I agree with you here too. A little fire-power never hurt anyone, right?

I don't think that Ray would have asked Lilly to go with him to California if he had a commitment issue. I think that he would gladly devote himself to her if she would let him. Thus far, she hasn't. Perhaps, it's just a matter of timing with these two, and we'll get to see if they work together or not in the future. I would be very interested in seeing the show explore a serious relationship between Ray and Lil sometime.

I think Ray's part of the past and he should stay IN the past. Sure he was important at 10, but Rush is like three times that age now and she should grow up and leave the past behind her once and for all. Part of the reason she can't move forward is because she keeps on clinging to these childhood wisps and doing so is never gonna make her happy.

Come back Ray! I'm in absolute and unequivocal favour of Ray making a comeback. The man is a spunkrat AND he makes milkshakes. *sigh*. He and Lilly have this thing that's almost as tedious as unrequited love (although I think we all know it's requited from certain lines said in Dog Day Afternoons... Moving on...) and neither one of them can let go. It's sickening. It's sappy. It makes for, IMHO, some great television. I'll bet California is too hot for him to keep the motorcycle jacket on an d he comes back. Or he just misses Lil (and I'm hoping it's the latter because the former is far too practical.) Besides isn't he contracted on for more eps? So he should come back, shouldn't he? Fingers are crossed over here. And I don't think Lil can really move on. She's never been able to before, why is it different now? Sure, there's been Joseph but if anything I think he gave her conscience (sp?) more to think about in terms of MCman. I mean how quick was she to jump to his defence; 'Ray never left me'. Which makes me wonder who left who? Did they ever really break up or is it one of those open-relationship things? All's I know is that I want Ray back already! [edit]Forgot to say; Lee I love this thread![/edit]

Part of the reason she can't move forward is because she keeps on clinging to these childhood wisps and doing so is never gonna make her happy. True and all DisasterFreak. Here's my POV for that one. I think she's hanging on to these little 'episodes' with Ray cos it may not be love or whatever you wanna call it, but she happy, if only for a while, and she's reluctant to let it go. And the fact she and Ray have history, and where there for each other when no-one else was doesn't seem to help either. Wow, I think I just quoted a whole line or phrase or whatever from Beautiful Little Fool. Making mental note to stop watching that ep religiously. But it is pretty. But yeah, thats my take on it. Honestly, I'm still a little undecided on 'The Ray'. I could go either way, which is the complete opposite to everything I've ever posted concerning Ray, but, concidering the choises I have (ie Joseph, Ray, Kite), I'm liking 'The Ray' the best. And for some reason my conscience is telling me Kite isn't even registering for a condender. Which according to Po-Po (my sub-conscience and muse. YES, I named it, get over it.) isn't all that fair. IMO, the 'Kite-Fiasco' was left with not a scrap of closure. All we got was the relationship was over, and they had awkward run-ins every now and then. And one day, Kite just dissappeared. IMO, the only way they can successfully tie the 'Kite-Fiasco' up, without Josh Hopkins coming back is if someone files a Missing Persons' report on Kite. That's off topic, I know. I had to get it out.

Lee said: I totally agree with that--it wasn't love (or maybe it was, I don't really care--it was SOME sort of strong pleasant sentiment at the time), she WAS happy at the time, but she's sorely in need of a life if she's still hanging on to it after all this time. Sure she doesn't wanna give up that happy moment, but she could go out and make herself some NEW happy moments more appropriate with her current age and lifestyle instead of hanging on to those old ones from when she was TEN. Given the circumstances of her life it all makes sense, true--I just don't like watching it. I seriously take exception to people who do that. So it bugs me seeing my former favorite character do it. Jambled said: Granted. It's pretty dramatic and will probably bring in lots of viewers. I guess it's just me who will never like it. I don't understand why they had to turn her into this sap--she was such an awesome character before, they could SO have made her have a life in other ways. But oh well. Romance and sap sell--I just gotta accept it and move on.

Soo much sap IS sickening. Even in my tumble-weed state of personal life right about now, I'm agreeing with you. Normally, I'd be reaching for the chocolate, vodka cruizers and Casablanca, Sleepless In Seattle and You've Got Mail. (PS: I do realise how desperate that is!) But yet, I find myself agreeing with you. You must be the second board member this week channelling me. I can't really judge tho, as I haven't seen all the eps, so I dunno how far CC have gone with the sap-overload. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

This need to move on is exactly why I feel that she needs to give it a-go with him. Once things don't work out, she can quit wondering and move on. Or if things do work out, then she'll know that way as well.

Exactly. I agree! You have to reach a point to be able to let go (and did they reach that in 4x05? Was that goodbye really a goodbye? I have a feeling he'll come back. It was kind of open ended. And they've done the goodbye thing before in 3x14 so their track record is already kind of screwed!) and they're not really there.
AND I think that in view of Lilly's incompetence when dealing with her own feeling and relating to people (she's great in an interview room when she's a step removed, but not the best at reconciling her own feelings) is another tick in the box for this relationship. He knows her. She's comfortable with him. She doesn't have to go through all that awkward getting-to-know-you stuff.

Maybe there is a bigger reason why they haven't gotten together, that hasn't been explained yet

KEEP Ray coming in and out of her life. That way Lilly can keep both passion and distance. She needs both. No one else quite fits that need like Ray.
Although, the "I knew you as a kid" sap can stop ANY time now!

I don't buy it, they are not in their teen or 20's anymore. If Lilly knows he isn't the type to settle down ,move on with it already. She's the type to settle down find someone else that's willing to
