It's going to be a really late start for Cold Case this evening! CBS EYE ALERT! Revised start times for tonight's CBS programs: 60 Minutes (7:50pm ET), Amazing Race (8:50pm ET), Undercover Boss (9:50pm ET) and Cold Case (10:50pm ET) due to CBS Sports live coverage of the NCAA Basketball Championship Tournament. I don't know who will be around later but I'm unlocking this thread. Please do not vote until you have seen the episode. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I don't have a DVD recorder. Only a player so I will miss it. I'm not happy about that at all!
Okay, remember no spoilers on this thread before the episode airs. If you want to talk about the episode before it airs, go to the Spoilers forum.
Thank you.

I guess there is an advantage to living in the west coast... Guess CBS shouldn't have aired 60 minutes or maybe skip Undercover Boss.
For those who have the episode but a late start, sorry guys...
EDIT: This is so going to screw up the ratings too.

EDIT: This is so going to screw up the ratings too. I agree. This is one of Cold Case biggest episodes of the season and could very easily pull in millions of people just for the music alone and because of the time lag people will not stay up to watch it. I am in Canada and we do not get effected by lag of CBS. But I do hope that people will stay up late and check it out. I have to wait until 11 to watch it due to CTV and the parolymic closing ceremonies

Just a note that there may be additional, unofficial delays due to the breaking news on the health care vote in the House.

I don't have the words to express how phenomenal this episode was, or how amazingly acted it was by Jeremy Ratchford. Throw in the music of arguably the greatest band ever (and my personal musical heroes) and you have in my opinion, one of the greatest episodes in the history of the show.
I wish I could add more, but that's all I have. The music was perfectly placed. Comfortably Numb when Vera was driving down the road drunk and had an accident; Mother when he was visiting in his ex-wife and found out she had two young children now; Wish You Were Here during the finale (which I guessed would be when it was used) which if you read the lyrics couldn't have been more appropriate.
Kudos to Cold Case. You've outdone yourselves.

Easily one of the best Cold Case episodes ever. The music was perfectly placed, the acting was superb..and the whole episode was just wow! If there's a season 8, I can only imagine that we'll see a toning down of Vera in interviewing suspects.

I hope this episode makes all of you go out and get Pink Floyd's music. I know Cold Case has inspired me to add a ton of new music to my iPod.

I've added some of there songs to my Rhapsody account playlist.
As to the episode; I think this is the first one that I actually got teary eyed at during the beginning. The entire episode was to put it bluntly, tragic. The only good part was the knowledge that the guy was innocent, but in the end who did it help?
I, too am hoping that if there's a season 8, Nick won't be so aggressive during his interrogations, but I also hope too that he realizes that certain emotions don't necessarily equal guilt. He kept asking JD why he didn't go inside to save his own children, because he didn't understand.
Yeah Nick, stand close to 1100-1400 degree flames, and you try acting brave and rushing in. Tragic as it is, what JD did was survival instinct. I have read that the body and mind will do all it can to survive; when he was in the house his mind and body registered that the place was too hot, and wouldn't allow him to go running through the flames.
Here is what's even more tragic. Even if the father did manage to go back in to save his children, I bet he would have died too.
So, again, here's to hoping that Nick realizes that cowardice =/= guilt.
(Just as how laughing about something inappropriate doesn't indicate guilt either. See "Thrill Kill")

Pains me to say it... but Doherty was right about one thing...they spent too long trying to protect Vera instead of helping him. The warning signs Vera was heading for rock bottom were there weeks ago. Ignoring them and trying to protect him clearly failed (as it usually does.) As much as we hate Doherty, Stillman and co NEEDED to hear that from someone and his likablity creeped up just a little bit for me tonight.

I have to grudgingly admit that my respect for Doherty went up a few notches during this episode; especially when he told Stillman to get Nick some psychiatric help, and if that didn't work then to fire him.

To me, this episode brought flashbacks from Season's 2 Discretion. Vera sadly did exactly what the dirty cop did...forced a confession out of an innocent man. I could understand how the drinking problem he already had was made even worse. As to who it helped in proving Joe's innocence.... Joe might be dead but his family will have peace in knowing his name was cleared. Not much but sadly all they can really have. The prison snitch will finally be shown for the sleaze and discredited from further trials once and for all. The sleazy landlord and his "handyman" will most likely face charges and, that $#@@ fire inspector will most likely lose his job. It also sent a message to the Cold Case squad. One, certain emotions don't mean guilt and two...looking the other way never helps anyone.

I've added some of there songs to my Rhapsody account playlist. If you want some recommendations, listen to the albums Obscured by Clouds and The Division Bell. They're not as gushed over as Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here or The Wall, but they're just as good. I always recommend the lesser-known stuff because it gives you a better appreciation and understanding of the stuff they did later on.

Thanks for that! I actually tend to sometimes enjoy the lesser-known stuff better than the well known stuff.

I really liked the episode even though I wasn't really thrilled.
1. Finally, a detective saw the victim (Yes, John was one of the most suffering victims ever!) 2. Tragic ending. John's family didn't forgive Vera 3. Good way to show how police can be corrupt!
My only question is Why John was killed and who killed him? I thought that'd be important but no!!! I need to know who killed him and why?

I need to know who killed him and why? Didn't you watch the beginning of the episode? JD was killed in prison by other inmates. He was killed because he was in jail for killing his children (even though it turns out he didn't) and in prison, people who kill kids or molest them are on the very low end of the totem pole.

I really, really enjoyed this episode. Mostly because of all the illegal things the Cold Case crew has been doing of late, Vera finally got punished for it. Mentally and physically.
It feels like Cold Case has been thinking outside the box a little more this season. And it's kept my interest high.
I really hope there's a season 8!!
