I liked this episode. There were many suspects and I didn't know who the killer was. The actual killer was the last person I suspected. I was sure it was the other ADA because he thought Greg wasn't putting his all into the case. Again there were lots of twists and turns right up to the end. I couldn't believe how bad that CT. Detective was. I'm glad he was caught. I was surprised when Greg's wife said he was probably gay. I doubted that. I was pretty sure there was another reason he was looking up those boys. Scotty had some great scenes in this ep, in fact he and Vera were featured prominently. I thought it was very appropriate that Scotty saw Greg's ghost at the end. There was a established connection between the two as opposed to "The House," when Scotty saw the victim and it was very out of place. I just hope Scotty and Christina don't hook up although I'm sure it would create an interesting story and some tension at the office between Scotty and Lilly.

This was a great episode because it kept me guessing. One thing was predictable, though. Greg seeking out male escorts just wasn't a possibility. The revelation was too early and it was obvious it was going to be something else. I did not see the wife having the coke problem. The ending was good, though I would have liked to see more of the two boys who killed the girl. Otherwise a good episode. Now, with a few weeks until the next new episode, maybe CBS will air the pilot.

I love how subtle the writing for this show is. Not only did we have an episode that examined racial issues and Scotty's feelings towards his background and culture, we also learned a few more things about another member of the team. Thom Barry did an excellent job when Jeffries told Scotty to drop the subject of "Lina," which I presume is his wife.
The case kept me guessing, and I liked the twist on the "Kennedy brothers". And damn, the ending montage had me sobbing as usual.

I also really liked this episode. I enjoyed all of the different elements to the story. We had the detectives out of their usual element traveling to New Haven instead, Sherman actually worked part of the case with Vera and Jeffries, and the writing seemed to take you down a stereotypical path, but then switched and went the other way. Most shows follow common steroetypes, but this epsiode (and CC as a whole) steered away from them. The murder case that the DA was investigating seemed to be racial, but in the end, the young girl's murder had nothing to do with race.
I've decided that crime show writers must really love me b/c I always follow the red herring. I went right along with the story and assumed that Greg was gay. I didn't fall for the he's-on-drugs storyline, though. I knew there had to be a reasonable explaination to his affiliation with Kiki, but I didn't know it was going to be the wife.
My heart broke a little for Greg when he came home and found his wife using again. He must have truly loved her to stand by her through her troubles. It's sad to think that he didn't get to see her come through them.
I loved the hotel humor. Lilly definitely has an advantage being the only female - a room to herself and no sleeping on the cot! I liked how she found it so funny too.
This was another really sad case because the victim was so likable. He was such a good person, and he truly believed in doing the right thing. It was sad to see that his death caused the conviction of an innocent kid. Luckily, Lilly and co were able to make that right as well. It makes me wonder how many other "confessions" were coerced by the dirty cop in New Haven.
I don't know about this whole Scotty/Christina thing. It seems that Scotty is quite interested, but I don't necessarily trust Chris's motives. She might be just trying to tick off Lilly. If Scotty's smart, he'll avoid the tavern. Plus, this would create a lot of friction between him and Lilly. He needs to heed her request.
Overall a strong, solid episode. I hope the show continues its impressive surge of late.

so not many people commented on this episode.
I liked it, but it wasn't my favorite.
I felt really bad for the kid in jail. I thought it was really noble and brave though that he would have stayed in jail to protect his mother.

so not many people commented on this episode. Yeah, we've had 56 replies to the thread for the previous new ep, "MindHunters" and only 6 replies to this one so far. That's kind of strange. I guess alot of people are busy with the holidays and didn't get a chance to watch "Discretion."

This episode wasnt my favorite. It was good, but not as good as Mindhunters was. I almost choked on my drink when Vera made the joke about the middle being autoerotic asphixiation (sp?). And Lilly actually smiled!!

Let me add to the reply numbers.....I really enjoyed this episode.......but I missed the last 5 minutes. Can anyone be more specific about what happened. I gather they found the two college kids that did the crime and the bad cop was also put away. Did they show the wrongly prisoned guy getting out...maybe back to his mom? (BTW...I just watched it on TIVO but my extra 40 minutes was not enough, that darn football schedule !!).

Izzy223 - The football thing is such a problem! I feel your pain. During the closing montage, they showed the man in jail get released. His mom was there, and they embraced. They also showed the DA victim looking on pleased, and Scotty saw him.

Can someone describe (in more detail) the scene where Lilly is amused about the hotel rooms? I missed the ep. Thanks.

LRS - Scotty, Vera, and Jeffries all had to stay in a room together, and Lilly got her own since she is the only female. The boys spent part of the episode arguing over who would have to sleep on the cot. Vera suggested Scotty since he was the newest member. I think Vera ended up sleeping on it b/c he came in late that night (from hitting the bars with the New Haven cop). They were sitting around discussing the whole thing the next morning at breakfast and Lilly had the biggest smile on her face. I think she found it funny that these three men had to share a room while she had one all to herself.

I think she also found it amusing when Jeffries complained how cold it was at night and Scotty said that you gotta have the window open for fresh air. And then when Scotty teased Jeffries for talking in his sleep... that whole scene was pretty cute.

I have no idea how I missed this ep. I thought the only S2 ep I missed was "Yo Adrain". I must have been watching an awards show or something. Anyhow if they are to have an ensemble episode this one is one to follow the framework for. This was excellently executed. Yea, it was Lilly light and they gave the limelight to Scotty but it still worked. I'd say this one was the best effort in the male detective ensemble so far. Vera and Jeffries were very good too. Who was that Gil detective. I liked him too. I didn't tape the ep so I'm sort of lost with the case. Who are the Kennedy Brothers they kept referring to? Vera had some funny lines: "City blows, nothing to do." And he got stuck on the cot! ;D And the meal ticket. And what is "auto erotic asphyxiation?" ;D I enjoyed the closing song and the hanging out shots of the gang. I think this traveling to another city was on our wish list from last summer. So--here's the ep. I''ll have to check out the writer and director on this one. Good episode. ~Naj

Naj, Gil turned up first season in a few episodes. In "Churchgoing People" he was original detective on the case. He messed up on it because he had a drinking problem. Later, in "Resolutions", he brought in the former alcholic and helped out on the case. Can't remember if he's been in any other episodes, but like Frannie and Anna Mayes, is a recurring guest on the force who turns up every now and then.

I forgot about the other question. The Kennedy brothers were two college kids who were responsible for the rape and murder of the girl. The drug dealer helped the cops catch them in the end.
