Naj, Gil turned up first season in a few episodes. In "Churchgoing People" he was original detective on the case. He messed up on it because he had a drinking problem. Later, in "Resolutions", he brought in the former alcholic and helped out on the case. Can't remember if he's been in any other episodes, but like Frannie and Anna Mayes, is a recurring guest on the force who turns up every now and then. thanks R2K. I couldn't remember the ep. I do remember him from one of S1's eps. Also having missed this ep I also missed the setup as to how Chris and Scotty get hooked up. So this makes sense now. So now we have Gil, Frannie and Anna Mayes. I wonder if they will reappear in S3? Or even Chris. I guess we'll begin to find out in the Spoilers area soon. ~Naj

Good evening all, Hello, it's the Byrdman just getting in touch with you this evening. I hope that everyone is still doing well, and that you are all having a wonderful weekend too! Hey, I saw that "Discretion" was the repeat that was one tonight, and I tuned in. Excellent ep from the turn of the millenium. But, oh, I heard the funniest exchange between Vera, Jeffries and a girl on the street while Vera and Jeffries were looking for a guy named Ramon. So funny! ;D Vera: "You know a hustler named Ramon? Puerto Rican, probably in his 20s?" Girl: "What do I look like, 411?" Jeffries: "He came from Connecticut, showed up about 4 years ago." Girl: "4 years ago, I'm in high school." Vera: "So, that's a no?" Oh man, I about busted a gut laughing when I saw this scene again! So funny! ;D Just thought I would share my happiness a little. Thanks for your attention, take care, and have a great night, everyone!

That line, byrdman, was nominiated for 'funniest line/exchange". Also the auto-erotica asphixation (sp). I liked this episode also. Thought it had a great sound track. it was a well paced and balanced case. I loved the bit about the guys having to pick straws for the cot. And then Jeffries was calling a woman's name in his sleep. Teed off Jeffries when Scotty brought it up. I also liked Gil Sherman in this. Why they don't use some of their regulars more often is beyond me instead adding another full time detective. *shrug* Anyhow I wanted to get this taped because I wanted to see the very end of the group at the table having drinks and wouldn't you know I got the entire ep taped and it stopped just about 45 seconds before that scene. My tape ran out! Does anyone have the final segment video or some pictures of the detectives together at the end? Thanks. <i should check our Fan Art forum to see if we do any, first>

To blinddarkness and Naj, Hello to you both, and thanks for getting back on this. Very cool that you both liked this exchange as well. It was funny, wasn't it? Thanks for your comment, blinddarkness, and I'm glad it made you laugh, girl. To Naj - Yeah, I think I nominated that exchange in the best of S2 myself. Thanks for remembering that. Great points about the ep last night too, Naj. Great music, and all those funny lines! Also, so sorry about your tape too. Were you able to find anything in Fan Art? Just curious. Thanks so much for getting back, take care, and have a great day!

OMG this was an awesome episode....so many funny parts. The whole Scotty impersonating Jeffries in his sleep was funny.....but is Lena Jeffries' ex wife? Yea, does anyone know what Scotty said Martin in Spanish? All I got was madre y padre and that meets mother and father.....but I don't know what the rest was. This was a good Scotty episode....but the whole thing with Christine....he's still wicked hung up on Elisa...you can totally tell. She was really pretty remember in the more recent S3 when he showed the suspect a picture....I bet they looked good together (even though it's not real). Actually, did Elisa ever have a part in any episode? Martin was a bad, bad cop, the reasons why don't even really make sense to me, or it didn't seem like he had a very good reason to do what he did. Maybe he was delusional, haha. Please answer my questions!

Hi toodles! I don't remember this one very well, haven't seen it that much.. But I recall Recognizing some words in the convo between Scotty and Martin, and I believe he's telling him where his parents are from. That he's half puerto rican or something like that... Elisa was in some eps in season one. None in season two.. The one where you see most of her I think is in 1.22- The plan.. Welcome to the board!

Thanks sukkerspin....that makes sense because he doesn't seem completely Puerto Rican.

Something I had caught watching this episode.
When the New Haven detective says about Greg" Grew up in a bad neighborhood something alluding to him getting in trouble" Then the camera pans to Scotty who was a strange look ,Foreshadowing of what will happen to him in future episodes ??
At the beginning Ana ,Gregs wife says to Sherman " He was good but when he was in something" remind anyone of 8 yrs when Sally talks about her descesed husband.

Wow...I saw this ep when it first aired, but I don't believe I'd seen it since, and I don't know how I missed it. I loved this episode! It was strong from top to bottom, with a wonderful blend of a good case, a compelling victim, and some fun interaction between the detectives. Scotty's Jeffries impersonation was pure gold.
I also caught quite a bit of foreshadowing of the rest of S2 from this ep.
--When Greg's old partner is talking to Scotty and Lilly, he makes references to Greg being "all over the place at work," and also adds, "I don't care what Greg said, he was drowning, and the next day he was dead." (This, whether intentionally or not, foreshadows Elisa's drowning death in the very next episode, and Scotty being all over the place at work for basically the rest of the season). There are also references to Antonio's suicide attempt.
--Mott also says, of Greg, "...being proud, he wouldn't ask for help...so he self-destructed." Again, a foreshadowing of Scotty's self-destruction for the next several episodes.
--Kiki says, "I tried to get him to see that they was just usin' him." A possible foreshadowing to Lilly's objections to Scotty/Christina (fears, perhaps, that Chris is just using Scotty)
--Scotty says to Greg's widow, "Sometimes, when you love someone, you only see them like you want to." As he has only seen Elisa the way he wants to up until this point, and also, I think, foreshadows his inability to accept Elisa's suicide.
--Greg's old partner says, "Maybe with all the stress, he went lookin' for comfort." Which is exactly what Scotty wound up doing with Chris.
I don't know what got into me. I think I'm having a boxman moment.

Now remember Scotty was already starting to go with Christina. In fact in " Red Glare" he already was trying to strike up some sort of a relationship. Way before Elisa had committed Suicide

True...but he didn't sleep with Chris until after Elisa, which is what I meant by the the "looking for comfort" reference.

Someone mentioned that Lilly go the room to herself, but I thought maybe Stillman ordered the guys to have one room and Lilly have one to herself?
Poor Stillman, all alone in Philly with no one to yell at...
I liked the ending where all five get together and Stillman takes the bill from Vera.. ;D
