I haven't seen any mention about the rib joint being the premiere episode. All I've seen for this episodes' description is a murder in a factory during WW2. Am I missing something?

Me too Ryebeach. My TiVo says:
"Factory Girls" A reunion of World War II factory workers stirs up memories of a mysterious death, and a friend of the deceased begs Lilly to investigate the killing.
I wonder how the rib place fits in?

Actually, the rib joint episode was originally thought to be the first episode of Season 2. Someone on this board remembered the rib joint being mentioned in the Pilot. Lily was investigating a double homicide at Della's Chicken and Ribs. The Factory Girls episode became the Season 2 opener after a while. This thread made a mistake.

Got my TV Guide in the mail yesterday, and they called the season opener "intriguing" (it's back in the listings section). Sounds like a good mystery to start off the new season!

Zap2it.com has Cold Case listed as on of it's best bets for tonite.
Cold Case 8:00 PM - CBS "Cold Case" returns for a sophomore season as Lilly (Katherine Morris) and her co-workers reopen a case from 1943. A 60-year World War II reunion of female factory workers stirs up memories of a mysterious death for one such "Rosie the Riveter." She confides in Lilly that the death was not what it appeared to be, and asks her to look deeper into the case. What Lilly finds is that those factory workers weren't as sweet and innocent in '43 as they appear now, and she has to find her way through a web of lies to find the real killer. "Cold Case" also stars John Finn and Jeremy Ratchford.

Just a heads up... CBS is airing two football games today. The second one starts at 4:15 pm EDT. This means that it's probably going to run over. I guess we'll be playing the waiting game tonight (as usual in the fall). Maybe the games will be over in time. *keeps fingers crossed *

I'm going to unlock this one b/c CBS is running previews for it. I noticed it in the "stay tuned for scenes from our next episode" and last night during CSI:Miami. Looks like we got ourselves another guessing game.

I don't know what's going on. I put "Factory Girls" back up in the info box. Let's assume it's running this weekend since that's the promo you saw TVFan.

I thought that this ep was really good, huge improvement from the season premier. What about Scotty's bet w/ Jefferies? LOL i laughed SO HARD at the end when he threw the money at him... hehe haha.
with the actual case though... i thought it was really good. I was so out of it with the allowance thing though. I mean, i know that women in those days were expected to stay home and be a housewife and such, but an allowance? that sounds like what me and my sisters get for doing our chores!!
I was also really surprised that the husband was the doer. i knew that it wasnt the boss guy, because they put a little too much emphasis on him being a drunk and such, but they sent me reeling when they revealed that it was the husband. in the scene where he is in the interrogation room, he really had me believing that he was ashamed of denying her the money, and that he was really sorry. *yup, those are my detective skills at work... *

I just watched this one, so beware SPOILERS ahead. * * * * * * This was a totally different episode from last week. I thought it felt more like a true CC episode. Maybe b/c the case was more than a year old. Not sure. Anyway, I loved the fact that it was a Lilly-centric ep. The focus was back on her and her abilities as an investigator. It felt like some of the earlier eps b/f Scotty joined. Also loved the fact that we had Lilly with Scotty, Lilly with Jeffries, Lilly with Vera, and my personal favorite Lilly with Stillman. I liked the scene in Stillman's office where she threw him his coat and asked him to go to "Smokey's" with her. I was happy to see the emotional connection that Lilly had to this case. She became very vested in Alice and her story. The closing shot where she walks back down the ladder was very nice. You could see how she admired Alice for helping pave the way for her. Scotty's "gutter" mind was funny. I guess we have confirmation that he and Elisa are done (for now anyway). Sounds like her illness was just taking too much of a toll on him. I love how Stillman really cares about his detectives. He seemed to really feel for Scotty. I was totally mesmorized by the flashbacks. They did an amazing job taking the viewers back to 1943. The costumes, hair, set (wow), music, and even the dialogue and accents were well done. It was a really neat episode. Also, I didn't realize that people weren't fully aware of the situation in Europe. It's hard to imagine this today b/c our news media is present for everything. We had imbedded reporters for the latest Iraqi War. What a contrast. My one complaint about the ep was the motive. I thought that the husband was too understanding to push his wife off the balcony because she had "changed" while he was at war. Maybe this was just slightly under developed and that's why I had a hard time seeing him doing this. Other than that, I thought "Factory Girls" was well done, and an improvement over last week's episode. The closing scenes with the former factory workers lunching together was moving and it made me smile. Most of all, the show returned to its core - telling a good story through the eyes of its female detective. I hope this is a sign of good things to come this season.

I loved this episode! One of the reasons I love Cold Case is that there's always a twist or at least a few sidetracks before you know who did it, unlike some other shows on TV that you can pretty much guess whodunit from the start.
I thought I was so smart in the beginning, thinking that the neighbor lady (Rosie?) did it because she was having an affair with the boss of the factory and he ended up liking Alice. Well, my theory was WAY off. LOL!
Another great episode, in my opinion!

WARNING!!! SPOILERS BELOW - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - --
This episode was cool! An old case with plenty of people left alive. To TV Fan, I was a feeling a little off by the husband being the killer. It just didn't feel right. This episode mimicked Glued in the final revelation. In that episode, I just didn't see the store owner killing the boy. In both of these episodes, the personalities of the characters didn't match that of a killer. This episode would have been more convincing had it been an accident.

Even though I didn't get to see the first fifteen minutes of the show, due to having guests in my house, I thought the show was pretty good. My only complaint was that Dottie didn't look like she was old enough to be around during WWII. Look at the other female characters, they looked like 80 yr olds while the lady who portrayed Dottie looked like she was in her late 50's or early 60's and this case is supposed to be 61 yrd old. That didn't look right to me.
With that being my complaint, the show was pretty good. The ending scene was touching. Seeing all of the characters from the War sitting around having lunch was cute to see them bond again.
Can anyone tell me what the bet was about between Scotty and Valens? I must've missed it.
