That was a pretty interesting story. I never would have guessed Ellen's brother. I'm glad they showed that a piece of evidence (like chrome) isn't always one obvious person - that it could involve someone else. I thought the gal that played Ellen was pretty and Warren the band singer would have been considered pretty cool back in '69. {I'll keep my political thoughts to myself as to who I thought was the smarter of them all involving the draft etc...}

I guessed the killer immediately but was surprised at the motive. The story was thoroughly involving, the flashback characters excellently written (not always the case) but the present day characters suffered for that. Wish we could have an even balance. The music in this ep was the best in a long time. There were a lot of songs and they each fit perfectly in their respective scene. Lilly was a bit scary in her scene with Christina (man I wish we knew the backstory between them). I was surprised Lilly did not directly confront Scotty. She must be saving that up for the next episode. All in all a very good ep.

******SPOILERS********
This ep was ok. I didn't guess the brother. But I have to say I was more iinterested in Lily and her sis. I really want to know what happened with those two. And what was up when she started yelling at the brother? Even Scotty was looking....And the dinner thing she so took her out to ask about Valens. I hope they let us know soon what went on between them its driving me nuts.

SPOILER:
Well, when chrome was mentioned, I said "wheelchair" to my hubby, but of course, I didn't know the motive or anything at that point. Just figured, it's Cold Case, and probably has a weird twist to it!
When Lilly "blew up" when questioning the brother, she said things about how he figured his sister was "going behind your back" type of things - sounded like she was talking about her own sister, in my opinion. So, whatever this "Patrick" thing is, she was kind of comparing the two in her "rough" questioning of this man. Also, probably for Valens' benefit, to hear that she would be upset by that type of thing - that he's going behind her back by not telling her about Christina.
Hmmm, I wish they'd come out with this backstory already! I wonder if Christina slept with Lilly's beau by the reference to "behind your back" or that she dated a close friend of Lilly's and something went wrong. I still wonder about all of the "baby" and "abortion" kinds of references in past episodes though.
Oh well, just my thoughts! Have a good day all!

SPOILER!! Yep, finally got to see an episode I've been missing some episodes b/c I was away and then we had family BD parties Wow!! Lilly really tore into the brother, but was really referring to Scotty going behind her back with Christina! Gosh, I wish I could figure out what really happened btwn her and her sister! At the restaurant, when Lilly told her sister that everything Christina touches goes bad! (something to that affect). Scotty interviewing the fiance of Ellen. When he ask Scotty if he ever been in love and been dumped. Scotty kind of told some history with someone he loved.. I was totally shocked that it was Ellen's bro Lots of twist and turns.. I truly enjoyed this episode and hope they give some more info on Lilly and her sis. When Christina was sitting on the stoop, where was she at Scotty's place or her sister's? I am assuming Scotty but couldn't see who's bell she was ringing

Hi Eurache,
I guess you have missed some of the eps. Scotty's been sleeping with Christina. And she was sitting on his stoop after she was kicked out of Lilly's. Vera told Scotty a few eps ago not to get hooked to Lilly's sister now all the detectives know about Scotty and Chris and Scotty doesn't know they know....yet!
Hi Ryebeach
They didn't give us too much in the way of time to confront Scotty. That's gonna be another one to look foward to see how it is handled.
Hi MrsB,
It looks like Lilly's anger over S/C got the best of her in her questioning of the brother (Brian). I wonder if Scotty figured it out yet.
Hi melliemel
I read a spoiler from the TV Guide that kinda ruined the element of surprise for this episode. I hope they don't start giving away things before the shows are aired. It does ruin it and several of us here got info we didn't want to see before the show aired right in the TV Guide.

So, Lil told Chris to leave!? Do not tell me that she went to Scotty now..oh please..it is becoming worse..*bangs head on table*...but she really seemed to be hurt after her conversation with Lil. Perhaps she really loves Scotty and she does not want to hurt him`!? I mean, people can change, don't they. Perhaps Chris only searches for a normal life....with a man and a family... Poor girl Ahh..I want to see the episode...*cries*

Perhaps Chris only searches for a normal life....with a man and a family... Poor girl by the pictures irishkale posted, Christina seemed really upset, but I don't trust her to have any good intentions. My guess is that she was probably surprised by Lil's emotional reaction. I hope Scotty doesn't take Chris into his house. I can't even imagine what Lil's reaction would be if he did that.

I really liked this episode. I was very emotionally involved in the characters (main and guest) and their individual storylines. First the case...
I didn't realize it was going to be the brother, but it tied in nicely with the personal stuff that Lilly was going though. Ellen was a really good person, and she tried to do what was best for everyone. The fact that her brother killed her made it that much sadder. I liked the way this episode followed the social themes from the year it took place.
Now, the personal stuff. I really think that Lilly didn't have a clue about Chris and Scotty. She was finally accepting Chris back into her life, and even taking her to dinner for her birhtday (which I thought was a really nice gesture). She seemed genuinely interested in Chris's "new man." They even laughed about past boyfriends. When Chris told her the "new man" was a cop and that Lilly knew him, you could see Lilly's whole expression and demeanor change. She realized, and she said, "not Valens." It broke my heart a little. They were getting along so well, and Lilly seemed to be trusting her. Chris betrayed her trust. Having said that, though, I'm not sure why Lilly is so upset about Chris dating Scotty. I guess she figures that Chris is trying to mess with her life, but Chris seemed very genuine to me. She was almost gushing when she told Lilly. She seemed very hurt when Lilly told her that everything she touches turns bad. I think Chris liked the idea of having a sister again. Once we find out more about "Patrick," I'm guessing it will make more sense.
I was surprised at how cold Lilly was toward Scotty the next morning. She carried it on through to the suspects as well, which is unusual for her. I think Lilly is hurt because Scotty lied to her and went behind her back with Chris. I hope she confronts Scotty soon b/c the cold shoulder act is beneath her. It's a tough situation. I feel bad for Scotty because he's just reaching out, I feel bad for Chris because she seems genuine and hurt, and I feel bad for Lilly because she was lied to and betrayed. I don't think Chris living with Scotty will help anything, but I don't know where else she can go.

Hey everyone! I'm a fool for getting into this thread when I haven't watched the ep. I keep spoiling myself ahead of time. But oh well. I just wanted to ask--what was up with the girl in the red dress who was crying? Was it Lilly after all? Who was she with? And what was she crying for? (cuz of what Christina told her??)

Disasterfreak, it was Lilly. She was having dinner with Christina (it was Chris' birthday). There are a lot of pictures of it somewhere in this board.

And, Lil did not cry if I got it right, she was just hurt... Have not seen the episode either...hmm..I repeat myself..Oh..never mind. What I wanted to say: I agree with TVFan. Chris seemed really upset and I do not think only because of Lil beeing so emotional. I think that she liked the thought of having a sister, a family again, as TVFan allready mentioned. I think that she really thought that everything went good now. She lived with her sister, their relationship became better, she had found a wonderful man and I get the feeling that she really likes or even loves Scotty. So it was a real shock as Lil told her that everything she touches turns bad. Just hope that this situation becomes even worse. At the moment it is OK to me that she went to Scotty. I mean, where should she go? Perhaps Scotty is even able to bring Lil and Chris back together, but I have the feeling that this is just a dream from me..*dreams*

woah! Ok so I knew the whole thing was coming with her sister because I'd read spoilers, but I had noooo idea it was gonna be that sudden! I felt really bad for Lilly especially at the end when she was talking to the brother about how it sucks when little sisters go behind your back.
See, at first, I didn't see what the big deal was, but I get it now, because I dont think its the actual fact that they were together (although that played a major part) but i think mostly, it was the fact that scotty had lied to her. how is she supposed to trust him now?

Yeah, it's pretty bad not being able to trust someone. Especially for Lilly, cuz I think she hasn't been able to trust many ppl in her lifetime and it must be a real challenge to do it.
You know, I think this is gonna take a while to get resolved (anyway, in real life it would). One way to push it along would be for something to happen to one of them (Lilly or Scotty) during a stakeout or sth, not necessarily get hurt, but just something that would FORCE them to act like partners and watch each other's backs.

Kathryn Morris looked sooooo beautiful in the dinner scene, with her hair down and wearing a pretty dress! I loved it! And when you combine that with how great she looked on Craig Ferguson.... what a week!!

Unfortunately I haven't watched the episode yet, only seen the pics posted here, so I can't really see the dress. She looks great with the hair down though! Only it's not something for everyday--her normal do is ok for work. There seems to be some disagreement about the dress. Some ppl say it's nice, others think it's too old-lady-ish for her. I really can't tell from the pics. I'll make up my mind when I watch it on TV. Anyway, glad you liked it, LukeCordoba!

I've seen the ep! It was a really nice surprise, too, cuz I was sure we'd be getting a rerun. Even though I knew what was coming, I was shocked at the Lil/Chris scenes. They were short but full of angst, the first ones when they were getting along, and then the one at the restaurant... I really felt for Christina. Lil's reaction was unexpected and explosive, completely uncalled for--so harsh! If I didn't suspect there's something really big behind it (this supposed Chris-caused drama, which I'm sure goes way beyond sleeping with this Patrick person), I'd almost take Chris's side. And her coldness toward Scotty later was really something... I insist, even from someone who knew what to expect, these scenes were a shock.
Oh, and I hate to say it--but those of you who hate the red dress are absolutely right. It's hideous! Doesn't look good on her and seems out of date somehow. But maybe that's also symbolic for something.

Disasterfreak - you know that I totally agree with you. I knew what was going to happen, but still I was shocked when I saw it. Lilly was so cold and harsh, she even scared me a little bit. Oh, the awful red dress... that image is stuck in my mind. I'm probably going to have a nightmare about it in one of the next nights!
