About the White Lilies. Reverend already mentioned the general symbolism of it. It's a symbol for purity and chastity, the Flower of the Virgin Mary and some martyrers and saints. But some might also know it as flower commonly used for funerals. Myth have it that it grows especially on graves of people executed for crimes they did not commit or on graves of unfortunate lovers. Have your own thoughts. Very interesting, Myril!! Thanks!

Is it a possiblity that if Lilly found her dad he would have helped her like Hawk did for Jenny> Maybe Ellen know's where is but wants to protect her from letting him help her

I absolutely LOVED this episode. It just sucked me in from the beginning with it's music, the camera work and dialogue - there was a special mood to it that had me captured. I didn't even once think about the lack of Lilly in this one. . I never guessed the killer either, but like you DF, I knew it was a woman because of the sound of her shoes on the floor . It was great seeing the continuation of the story about Scotty's brother. They did that really good imo. The two bed scenes were so well done...Scotty being the one concerned in both of them. Aww and he really was a cutie . Great scenes with Jeffries telling about his country music past. And the end with Stillman rocking it out with Kat and Vera. I gave this ep the highest score there is.

It was obvious the killer was a woman. I'm surprised they didn't conceal those step sounds a little better. Although I had no idea who had done it.
I didn't notice until I reran the ep that Vera was getting into the dance at the end too. Funny. And Lilly was funny at the beginning asking Stillman something like: "do you rock, boss?"
Cute.
So maybe we will see more flashbacks of younger Scotty. ;D

Just in case anyone was wondering how plausible it would be for Philly to have a popular Rock-n-Roll DJ like "The Hawk", or for "Bones" to go on to become a successful record producer, Philly really was a hotspot for music in the 1950s until the mid-70s: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_music#1950s_popThe show "American Bandstand" was broadcast nationally from West Philly until 1963 (when it moved to Los Angeles): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_BandstandCoincidentally, Dick Clark will soon be offering pieces of Philly's Rock-n-Roll past in an upcoming auction. Charles Esten also goes by "Chip" and was a semi-regular on 'Whose Line is it Anyway' with Drew Carey. He is mega talented and I cannot figure out how we don't see more of him. He was amazing here!! But why is he uncredited I wonder?
Great show...did you see KM as Lily's mom at the sock hop?

I did not record it and may have imagined it but it was at the sock hop, before the father confronted the Hawk...I think when Hawk was talking to them, after the slow song at the beginning. It was quick and I remember thinking how cool it was because Lily had mentioned that her mom used to go to Hawk's sock hops.
Like I said...I may be delusional

I saw someone wearing a blonde wig, it could have been KM. I tried to pause the scene but it wouldn't work. Her face was similar to Kathryn's maybe it was her

I've been through both dance scenes and the nearest person I can find is this woman: Those are from the 2nd dance (when the girls goes on the stage to talk to Hawk). She also appears at the first dance. It's not KM. Maybe it's supposed to be Lil's mother though.

Hi all- New here too! Loved the episode "Static"! Loved them dancing in the closing scenes, and the song "Scarlet Rose", luuuuved it. Does anyone know the name of the artist singing it, and if it is available for purchase? I was able to find out that it was composed for CC by Gary Haase, but there was no name for the performer. Please help!

Welcome skyygirl!
I posted about the song in the episode soundtracks forum. I inquired about it with Warner Bros., and my contact told me that New York musicians performed it and someone named Alexa did the vocals.

I have to say Lilly's makeup looks so much better this season. she doesn't have that poreclin doll look to her . Why aren't Lilly and Scotty doing interrogations together, I really miss that.

I'd been meaning to comment on this for a while (sorry, LII--I don't have the screencap so can't help) but KM has HORRIBLE hands. ;D They're nervy and kinda wrinkled, not at all like the rest of her. Well... gal can't be perfect I guess.

I think KM has nice hands, but that's just my own opinion not trying to put yours down DisasterFreak. I
still have a feeling that Lilly was thinking about her own dad in this episode, in relation to Hawk trying to help Jenny to make her dreams come true. Even reading the song lyrics, you can tell that she was thinking about him. Maybe yearning for his return.
Maybe that's why Lilly's dad never made his appearence yet, maybe Ellen would try to stop him from helping Lilly . In Lilly's mind she wanted her own dad to come back and guide her, she misses him a lot still.

Hope no body get's this wrong, 'coz I'm not saying that KM would be "old", but hands are usually the thing that reveals the real age. Especially when someone near 50 still has face of 25 years old you should check her hands. (kind of out of topic but just crossed my mind....)

Yeah Eli, KM's is only 37 but she looks like she's in her early thirties and not her age Anyways back on topic here, I noticed something else about Lilly.
When she says to Dottie " Died on the road at age 43" she said it sadly and kinda of looks down could this be a possible reference to her own father???
