I loved all the drama in last night's episode! It was so sweet when Joseph told Lilly he loves her and I was like 'omg' when she was like "yeah?" lol, And OF COURSE she still isn't over Ray so she couldn't help but smile at him! Wonder if he is gonna get into any bad trouble with whoever he was talking about?! I couldn't believe she didn't answer Joseph's call either! That made me REALLY know that she still has feelings for Ray And then she told Joseph she loves him too! ;D You could tell she didn't really mean it though, and you could also tell that she has never told that to someone either! And of course Vera [and Jefferies] had to butt in and ruin the moment! That made me so tiffed! So Lilly was just all "ok we gotta go!" and just left! She was so mad at Nick! Most of what I paid attention to was the 'drama queen scenes', but I thought the case was good too, but the drama had me so excited it was hard to pay attention to the rest of it! CAN'T WAIT TIL NEXT WEEK! ;D

Maybe a part of Lilly does love Joseph, who wouldn't but another part of her loves Ray. Joseph really does love her , look in his eyes. I felt sorry for him when he was left standing in from the station alone. Doesn't he pick up the signals that Lilly is sending out? I hope they stay together , they make such a cute couple Personally I think that Joseph is much better for Lilly then Ray.

I haven't watched the episode and judging by my ISP's behavior, I probably never will. Not for a few months anyhow. All I can say is: SOAP. Maybe it's not the conventional relationship but WHY does it always hafta be about choosing between two guys. And if Lilly's got Ray out of trouble before just because he's hot in bed, she's a fool, that's all. Yeah, I know you all hate me. Maybe I'll change my mind if I finally get to watch the episode. I'll be sure to eat my shorts if I do. Publicly!

I don't think it's turning into a soap opera , I think the writers are doing a good job of balancing the realtioship with the cases.

Kathryn did an amazing job of channeling Lilly's feelings for Joseph and Ray.

I gotta say I loved this episode. I'll agree with everything TVFan said about the case. Sorry if I repeat what anyone else has said, I haven't had time to read everyones responses. Loved the Lilly scenes as always. She looked lovely and her clothes were great. I laughed so much at the scene where Vera and Jeffries catch Lilly and Joseph together. They almost seemed kinda protective over her, which I thought was sweet. I kinda got the idea that Lilly was a little disappointed at Joseph's relaxed attitude when she suggested they meet that night. She said "oh okay" in a kinda sad way. I think that was why she pulled him back and told him she loved him, like she thought it was what he wanted to hear. I'm so hoping her and Joseph stay together. He is so lovely and completely perfect for her. PLEASE don't mess things up for them!! As for the Ray aspect of the episode, I thought it was well done and has offered a great close to what should have been last season. I feel they could leave their relationship just there and us not see him again. Much as I liked him, i don't want things messed up for Lilly and Joseph now.
So far a great season!
Anyway thats all I'll say for now. ICT lesson is over!!! Better tend to my class!!

I always like the old cases but I thought this one was only fairly good. As myril said, it was all a little predictable. Nothing shocking there. I think the whole racial issue is always interesting to watch, I'll never get tired of that. Also, I really enjoyed the music of this episode. We saw a whole lot more of Lilly and Joseph this episode. When he said that he loves her that totally blew me away! Didn't expect that at all. And her awkward response seemed pretty natural to me . It was totally a "I-have-to-say-I-love-him-too-because-else-he'll-feel-bad"-thing when she (almost) whispered the response in his ear. The fact that she didn't just say it out loud, looking him in the eyes, means to me she doesn't have her feelings sorted out, and this is moving way too fast for her. Ray on the motorcycle - CHEESY! Was he waiting down the street for her to come out of the building? Get a life! All he wants is her help for his bike business...

My take on the Ray situation is this:
Ray is the handsome guy that has taken an interest in Lilly. She's flattered. Men don't normally look at her like that. He makes her feel good for a while. She's not used to that. Seems like he's a bit of a criminal though, or at least associates with bad'uns. He's used his influence over Lilly to get certain problems solved. If she doesn't he might not come back.
In this episode he rides in and turns on the charm again. Lil's flattered again and is seriously considering it. Then he mentions the problem and things become clearer to her. Her relationship with Joseph has shown that she doesn't need Ray's attentions to make her feel good. And she's in a bit of trouble with the boss so putting her job on the line for him is not worth it any more.
That's why she backs off.
However, she's feeling a little guilty about considering Ray's 'offer' so she avoids responding to Joseph's call. The 'I love you too' line might have been covering her guilt as well.
Poor Lilly, she's clearly had problems thoughout her life which have shaped her relationships for the worse. Now she's with a good man, Joseph, and she is doing that subconciously destroying it thing. As though she is not deserving of happiness.

Somehow I think that Lilly might stay with Joseph, there is an inner conflict with Lilly herself but she does love him, why would she still let him kiss her. Joseph kinda of rushed things by saying that he loves her, but wait if they were going out since May hasn't he said this to her before?? Maybe Lilly needs to find happiness in herself instead of looking for it elsewhere, she is in a relationship but still unhappy. On the flipside, Joseph isn't needy but he too might share someone of the feelings that Lilly is feeling.

Personal think, you can't find happiness "outside" anyway, happiness comes from within. Having the impression, that there is a little confusion about what sandhogs were / are doing, so to give a little background for this case 2 links: wikipedia article Sandhog project

I've been pondering my earlier post and have come up with some additional ideas. They may have been said before by others, I can't imagine I'm the first to think them.
My guess is that Lilly met Ray on a case (before we met her) where he was a suspect. She fell for him. He charmed her. She let him get away. Sound familiar? Being the professional she normally is she knows that this was the wrong thing to do and it's eating her up.
Since then Ray rolls into town when ever he needs a favour. Charms her, beds her, she gets him out of trouble, he leaves.
Obviously Joseph is no Ray but Lil may be thinking there is a pattern here, questioning her own judgement, professional and personal.
Looks like Ray is appearing in upcoming episodes so the trouble he alluded to in Sandhogs is likely to be coming up again.
Extrapolating still further I guess that the initial 'Ray' case will be coming up again as a cold case and Lil's actions back then will cause problems for her now.

Interesting insights there RichE. Never thought of Lil meeting Ray on another case. But I agree with whoever said Lilly needs to find happiness inside herself first and foremost. Now that the writers are writing for Lilly, I'm just happy to let them take me on Lilly's journey. But it's fun to ponder and dissect too. ;D

In addition to sort of representing Lilly's wilder, more spontaneous side, Ray also represents her past. We all know that she has a hard time moving on (and understandably so) from all of the tragic things that have happened to her throughout her life, so maybe holding on to a positive one (Ray) makes more sense than we think. Sure, Joseph is much more suited for Lilly, but he's coming on a little too strong for her. Ray is safe and familiar, so she might be feeling a sort of kinship toward him, especially in light of Joseph telling her how he feels. Perhaps, this is why she seemed to sort of consider Ray's request and linger while holding his hand.
It all boils down to the fact that Lilly has to put her past behind her to advance her relationship with Joseph if that's what she wants. Otherwise, she's just going to keep ending up with Ray. In any event, I'm excited to watch this story unfold because it has the potential to reveal a lot about the character of Lilly and give us plenty of good scenes.
