I updated the first post with the episode description and cast list. I assume that CBS meant SCOTTY instead of DANNY.

It seems like they're using less Lilly in the show and more in the previews. I'd prefer her more in the show though.

I thought this episode was awesome. It was so nice to see the softer side of Vera with the baby. I have not watched the show in a while but it seems to me that Scotty and Lilly are getting back to being comfortable with each other again which is nice to see.

I finally got a chance to watch this episode (stupid local station didn't air it until the middle of the night ), and I absolutely LOVED it!! It was right up there with Saving Patrick Bubley as one of this season't best so far. Writer Andrea Newman also wrote another excellent episode this season - Bad Night. She has a knack, it seems, for writing episodes that give all of the characters something significant to do. I didn't even mind the addition of another character because her role made sense. More on Kat later. This case was fascinating, just as Bad Night's case was fascinating. Ms. Newman has an awesome ability to humanize every character she writes. It was so easy to dislike Stump, but then when you learned more about him, you realized that he wasn't someone you could just stick in the "bad person" category. I especially hated him when I thought he beat poor King, but that turned out to be Tommy. I loved Frank, and found his death very tragic. As much as I disliked Tommy for what he did, I also found myself really feeling bad for him. He needed the help his father tried to get for him. One other thing case-wise that worked well in this episode was the fact that they didn't try to shock us with the doer and leave us scratching our heads. It made sense that Tommy was responsible and he was a plausable suspect all along. I also managed to spend the entire episode wondering who killed Frank, so it was a nice balance between the two. I LOVED the Vera babysits storyline! How sweet was he with that baby? And taking care of the baby allowed him to realize that he wants to adopt a child of his own! I am in LOVE with this storyline. It's awesome and it gives Vera some awesome material. I think that scene when Lilly found him with the baby sleeping in the interrogation room would have been enough to propel this episode to my favorites list alone! That's now one of my favorite scenes of the series. Just awesome. I can't wait to see what develops on the Vera front. At first I thought Lilly's father had died like Tommy's mother, but later it seemed that he had walked out on the family and she blamed her mother. It sounds like Lilly has been through a lot dealing with her father's abandonment. She said something about understanding the grief that eats at you. I hope we learn more about this chapter in her life. Finally, I like Kat. She adds something to the show much in the same way that Elena Delgado adds something to Without A Trace. I think the problem with "Josie chippy" was that she seemed a little fish-out-of-water and her character didn't add anything to the show. Plus, they seemed to shove her down our throats and they have been introducing Kat much more slowly. Kat is smart and sassy and she blends in nicely with the rest of the team, but also manages to carry her own. As long as they continue to give us plenty of Lilly involvement and storylines, I won't have a problem with Kat's addition. I think her character could be interesting if the writers continue their path with her. Overall, a first rate episode that easily earned its place on my favorites list.

I have not watched the show in a while but it seems to me that Scotty and Lilly are getting back to being comfortable with each other again which is nice to see. I noticed this as well, scottyandlillyfan. I liked the scene in the beginning where she told him that she heard that Kat Miller was joining homicide. When he asked her how she knew, she told him she had her sources, and she gave him one of her trademark Lilly smiles that I haven't seen since last season's The House when she started to tease him about Frannie. I also liked the follow up scene in the case basement when Stillman told them that Kat was joining, and Scotty looked at Lilly impressed that her "sources" had been correct. I like these two a lot better when they're acting more like partners and friends and less like enemies. It was nice to see a return to this type of relationship.
