This is an incredibly sad episode, and not an easy episode to watch. It is an excellent episode in all ways- writing, plot, acting.
Nash Cavanagh was one of their most repellent victims ever. I like that we got to see the detectives struggle with the case- they had to balance their hate of the victim with the need to solve his murder. I thought their qualms about investigating and arresting the boys was very realistic. I liked that even Stillman admitted he wished he'd called in sick that day.
They clearly showed how Cavanagh abused the boys and ensured they kept their silence. He groomed them for a while before he started to abuse them. I wonder how many victims he had overall? I felt so sorry for the kids- they were so young and had been sent away by their parents, and then they couldn't tell anyone about the abuse.
The Elissa storyline was also depressing. Poor Scotty. You can tell he really loved Elissa and that it hurt him to see her so ill. I liked that Stillman and Lilly were so supportive and concerned for her as well.
I felt sorry for the killer. He was so desperate to stop himself becoming Cavanagh that he was begging Lilly to send him to jail. I really hope he got the help he needed and was able to be rehabilitated in jail.
A very powerful episode.
