Lily is so awesome~ When she heard that Bruce said that cats were useless and stupid , I could see from her face that she's little bit prissed off, but she could really stay clam and kept her head~
In this episode , I got an image like that Vera always screwed up...just couldn't control his emotions, even threatened the suspects ! (if you are vera's fans, don't be mad...)of course, he is a good cop, he gets passion , he wanna catch the bad guys so much~That's i admire that !!!
After watching today's episode , I have a weird thinking hemming in my mind " maybe I know why Lily is called Rush, can you remember when she knew the address of the two victims, she immmediately wanted to go there in the midnight~full of passion and just like her name~Rush, right?

I never watched this episode, and from everything I've heard, I really want to. It's very close to Lilly in many ways (cats, being single) and very close to the beginning of the show, so her character was still really unadulterated (not that it's adulterated now, just that more shades have been added to it). Plus they've never again dealt with serial rape, and I'd like to see how they go about it.
I want first season reruns. Badly.

Poor Disasterfreak, really a pity you hadn't a chance to this ep so far. It's one of my favorites. lovecoldcase: Funny, because Vera seemed so screwed up in this ep I liked him even more. He's a guy who tries really hard but somehow often mess up things. Still I think you can count on him. And I could understand him, this arrogant friend would have driven me crazy too. What Lilly later said to this jerk was so to the point.

This one should be on TNT in a month or so! I can't wait to read the comments, because it's a great Vera episode!
Although we should rename the thread "Episode 1.03 Our Boy is Back"

Oh Yeah!! What an episode. I had forgotten how passionate Vera was about this case. He was at his alltime best. Lily was great as well. Strange for Lily to not have either partner with her this episode. She and Vera really worked well together. It's kind of weird seeing Season 1 again along with Season 3 for the first time. I like being able to see the difference between the early episodes and the current ones.

OMG! I just watched this ep for the very first time and it was awesome. I'd forgotten how good season 1 cases were... I guess because they were all fresh up with ideas back then. Now they've got too complicated, too many side plots taking away from the main one. But that could still change.
Anyway, as R2K said, the differences are SO noticeable--between S1 and S3. There are much less flashbacks, less elaborate, too--but the case is better constructed. Hardly any loose ends--everything ties up, everything makes sense. It's a pleasure to watch! Not that cases nowadays aren't, they just seem a bit less convincing to me.
I loved the passionate Vera, the communication between him and Lil. I loved Lil's attitude. I can't explain very well, but she seemed much less "aloof" in those eps, compared to now. Seems to me that now she's either all-out spitting out intimate information (Revenge), ganging up on the suspect, or not really there. Back then she was more reachable, I guess.
The idea of a serial rapist as compared to a serial killer was pretty interesting, and I was totally freaked out by how much like Lil all those poor victims were. I'm glad they didn't succumb to the temptation of making her the next victim--or the bait. That would've been so cliche, and it was too soon for that. Case was much more interesting that way.
This would make my 2nd favorite ep, right after Fly Away. Closely followed by The Woods.

For an earlier episode, this one had less flashbacks and less music as well. Plus, the images of the characters didn't flashback either. Something I noticed this time around as well as in the first two episodes. You really see Lily's determination when she works late. They worked hard to establish her drive for justice. We know she still does it, but it would be nice to see it again.

Great Analysis, DF and R2k! I agree completely with your thoughts.
I love how Lilly helps Vera get his confidence back. In the beginning of the episode, he's very frustrated and insecure about dealing with the case. But Lilly takes over (and lets him tag along). Along the way, Vera gets stronger and helps out more--and starts to solve it on his own. Lilly's humor and compassion really shines in this one, and it reminds me why I got hooked on the show (and Lilly.)
In the end the bad guy is caught and Vera is finally vindicated. Watching the episode again, it seems a little unfair that George teases him about it in "Mindhunter." (the "someone got to screw alot of juicy pooches" line.)

I miss season 1. Also miss that I don't have TNT to watch the reruns. So those of you that can watch, enjoy! :smile73:

I know what you mean. Even though I've seen them, it's weird how far the show is. It seems like yesterday we were gearing up for "Badlands" and "Factory Girls". Now we're three episodes into the third season. Where does the time go?

Dear R2K, Good evening, bud! How are you today? Hopefully very well, just like me. Anyway, I just wanted to inquire whether you thought this ep was uncut or not. Did you see anything that was left out by TNT? Just curious. Thanks so much again for checking into this for me, bud. Take care, and I will look forward to hearing from you soon. Have a great night!

To the best of my knowledge this episode was intact also. Every scene is exactly as I remembered it. I'll bet if anything is cut, it is a tiny fraction when they cut to the commercial. If anything is being cut, it is really trivial. But I don't think anything is being cut.
