This comment is also interesting when it's compared with what George Marks told Lilly in S2's "The Woods." While up in the attic, he says, "You sleep with the dead, you're halfway there!"

I rewatched this episode yesterday. At first, This is one of those episodes where people are always confused about the date. In the wiki and other Cold Case sites this is always listed from 1972. No. Carl was back in August 72 and was killed in 73. Now, the first 20 minutes were kind of boring but the other 20 were excellent! We did not see soap opera and the Stillman interview was EXCELLENT! I will never forget Vera and Scotty's faces when Stillman pulled up the gun I knew Ken wasn't able to kill Carl so I knew it had to be Daniel. Btw, the murder scene was very dramatic. Excellent flashback style!

Liked this episode especially with lots of Stillman but I liked how they are bringing in Kat slowly. I think maybe when they brought "Josie chippy" on, that they just stuffed it into our faces. But since I've seen later episodes before seeing this one, I already liked Kat and I can see how John liked her too.

I always thought this was a heartbreaking episode. One only needs to read the accounts of American POWs from Vietnam to know the kind of hell that Carl went through and how the choice he made to come home before he was supposed (first in, first out) had to have been painful for him to make. On one hand you know he wants the pain and the torture to stop and he wants to come home, but then you know that there were men there longer who should have gone home before he did. It was all so horrible. What a derelict, bankrupt chapter in American history.

Indeed, this was a very heartbreaking episode. Carl was a clearly tortured man over the choice he made to come home, even though there were others who should have gone home before him. But you could understand fully well why he made it. I also felt for the doer in this. I can't imagine having a loved one being held somewhere and you not knowing anything about what's happening to him. Being a teenager/young kid must make it even harder. I will note maybe the writers and the squad felt the same way too. This is one of the few times (The Goodbye Room and Devil Music being the others I can think of) where you know the doer will be arrested but isn't shown handcuffed or being put into a jail cell.
