I thought it was a pretty good episode, but it was nothing special. The only thing I really liked was the fact that FRANKIE IS GONE! Lilly was getting a little harsh at the end with the sister.......! And Lilly didn't jump the fence, either!!!!!!!! Unless I missed something..........

according to the next episode line up, frankie is in the next episode as well, ( no spoilers)
I found this episode to be extremely boring, found myself to lose interest early on. I didn't like any of the interrogations except the whole squad down at Jones at the end. Hands down on this episode, the last one was much better. This was like a Season 5 episode.
I knew that Frankie had to be married, but I don't buy the fact that she's seperated. I think she's just cheating on him for some reason.

I found myself unable to pay attention, I ended up flipping to the Arts channel to watch ballet.
In the spoilers thread for this episode, I remarked what I thought were reasons that Scotty and Frankie's relationship might be hitting the skids. The first thing I said was "Is she married?" Turns out I was right. Well, thank GOD this horrible, horrible story arc will end now, because it was so tedious and dumb.
On the whole, this episode was supreme filler, nothing more. It wasn't really interesting to me, the characters were not interesting to me, the only thing I thought was remotely memorable was the fact he left all the money to Shelly, who was just a cashier he saw often and whose car he fixed often. It was a nice gesture, I guess that's what he meant when he said he gave the money to someone who could use it.

I really enjoyed this episode maybe because it was something totally different from other stories they've done in the past. I've read many stories of people winning the lottery and then going bankrupt and everyone coming out of the woodwork that the winner knows asking for a hand out. One thing I would do is get my own CFP and I wouldn't gamble too much in the stock market - I'd have safer options even though I might not get a higher interest rate. Anyhow, I loved Vera's Lotto pool. ;D I totally missed how the detecitves came up with the list of the ATM password list (what they based their list upon for passwords). I'm surprised Ed just didn't buy Shelly a car but was happy she ended up with some money. And Scotty, didn't you ask Frankie before getting too involved?

I did think the guy playing Ed was kind of hot. So there was that. Not much else, though.

Scotty doesn't think too much when it comes to relationships, but yet doesn't realize it. I knew that it had to be both the sister and her husband, too easy. Who else would know the name of the dog; but both her and Ed??

I was completely bored, but I wish Frankie would just go away already. Really now. The woman is married, Scotty, don't even let her fool you. Puh-thetic...Anywho, the guy playing Ed was kinda hot........So there we have it. Who else wanted to just kinda..........punch the sister, though? She was being just a little evasive...

Big fat "meh" from me on this one. The case really didn't pull me in, although I found Ed and Shelly rather likeable, and Vera's crusade to get the co-workers in on his lotto pool was quite amusing.
I knew there was a reason I didn't like Frankie. Good for Scotty for not putting up with any of her bull.
That last moment in the montage illustrates to me why we don't need outside people messing with the detectives' mojo. They all have so much fun together. That moment was a gem in an otherwise mediocre episode.

I thought this ep was good in almost every respect! Not earthshatteringly Great, but it was a solid episode. It did fulfill an important requirement for me to get into the "good" category -- it had a likeable victim. The Ed character was pretty funny. With the shaggy hair and scruffy beard, he was the true "average joe." He almost didn't even look like a professional actor. A quick look at the IMDB reveals the awful truth: SCOTT FARKUS! OH NO SCOTT FARKUS FROM "A CHRISTMAS STORY!" But anyways, the character was a likeable guy, he was funny, and he seemed like he had a good heart. The actor also had an odd sort of charisma that made the ep. enjoyable. I really really liked the "shelly" character, and I liked her relationship with Ed. It was well played by both actors, and their scenes together had an innocent sweetness that I really connected with. His Dad was cool, too. That actor has played bad guys in a few different movies, he has sort of a rough but interesting face. This episode had alot of action in it,which I like! Scotty and Vera slamming that guy on the car-- Scotty busting into Ed's Dad's apartment. I like it when the cast is allowed to do real "cop stuff" versus the stuff they normally do, which is sit in the interrogation room and talk to people. AND SPEAKING OF ACTION: Where was the shot of Lilly jumping the fence that they showed in the preview? I was looking forward to it! I'm not that annoyed with the presence of the Frankie character. I was mad at first when it seemed like they were going to do another "Scotty romance" for this season. But I do like it that they aren't slamming us over the head with it, like they've done in previous seasons. In the past they've always made Scotty's romances some huge melodrama with crazy over-the-top sex scenes, etc. With Frankie, you have to admit that they're doing it right by keeping it sorta low key and under the radar (at least for now!) Vera's Lottery schemes! The writers are good about making Vera's scheme-of-the-week interesting and topical with each episode! It's also funny that Jeffries is always against it, whatever it is (remember the tupperware?) The final shot really defines the "Vera philosophy" of the loveable loser -- as he realizes that his lotto numbers are a bust, he scowls, smiles, and then takes a drink of whiskey. The Nicki character was hot! Thanks to whomever for giving the male viewers a nice girl in a bikini. To quote our friend Byrdman, "Girls Rock!" Probably the only thing that bothered me was the ending with the suitcase. I'm no lawyer, but if Ed's assetts were still in probate, wouldn't that missing $100K have to be reported and therefore would go to Ed's heirs/beneficiaries when it was sorted out in court? Did Lily do something unethical by giving it directly to Shelly? Anyways... Good Ep!

Aside from appearing in those God-awful Uwe Boll movies, he's probably best known for playing the title character's dim-witted brother on the underrated show "Titus". (Find it on DVD, if you can). (Speaking of actors, who recognized Jeff Kober, the man who killed President David Palmer, appearing as Ed's dad?) I got spoiled way back when for this ep so there was little surprise for me in this episode, aside from Franke being married and Shelly getting the money at the end so I really can't say anything. I think I liked it a bit better than most, more to think of later, probably.

Yes there is a resemblence to that Ferkus on A Christmas Story! ;D Is that for real? I liked this as well - we need to see other sides of the detectives. *Lilly actually handed Vera some money*. I was wondering how she was going to get in on the pool. Notice how she doesn't participate in the detective's antics. During the promo while football games were running yesterday I saw a new ad for CC. It showed all of them in the ad for this ep and I really liked it.

THAT WAS MY QUESTION EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!! I was looking for some fence-jumping action and an exciting, intense episode!!! Cold Case lied to us!!! I even made a shirt with my cousins that says "COLD CASE LIED TO ME" because I expect they put that in just to boost viewers for the show because they thought it would be an exciting episode.

If I'm remembering the preview for this episode right... I recall noticing that about half of it actually consisted of stuff from old episodes. So the fence-jumping may well have been recycled footage from an older episode, and therefore wouldn't have appeared in the episode itself.

When I saw Zack Ward, couldn't help it but see his demonic face he had in an episode of Charmed. And Jeff Kober, he played a ghostly serial killer on Charmed. Of course, both did other things too. Anyway.
I don't have much to say about this episode. It was good, solid work.
Guess I'm one of the few who likes Frankie though. Scotty has a talent to get involved with attractive troubled women, perhaps he really should learn to ask some questions before. Frankie's husband must be some hothead, doesn't he know where is wife is working? I mean, come on, chances are high, that whoever she dates is probably police, and it's very, very dumb to attack a police officer. If Frankie's trying to get away from that guy, I can understand her, even understand, that she hasn't mentioned it yet. Stupid, yes, but so far it looked more like she and Scotty were flirting (yes, getting physical doesn't exclude for me, that a relation is still on flirt level), and there are some things you don't usually tell everybody from the start. That is life, people spend sometimes a night together before they've exchanged all important details of their biographies.

So...here's something that makes no sense at all. How is Frankie's husband able to track down Scotty's cell phone, and his car, without having any idea that the guy's a cop? As myril said, Frankie WORKS at PPD. Most of the people she sees on a day-to-day basis are cops. And he really has no clue that her new boyfriend might be one? Despite the fact that he's able to stalk him as he apparently has? How does he even know she's seeing someone? Does he stalk her, too?
Also...I've seen over-the-top sex scenes. Trust me: we've never gotten one on Cold Case. Besides, Scotty in a state of being not completely dressed is what makes these insufferable love interests actually worth it to some of us. It's our equivalent of girls in bikinis.

Cold Case isn't that type of show that actually shows sex, they tend to keep the relationships G rated for some reason; which isn't all that bad. Yet I think in this one, it's actually a good thing that that wasn't shown. Plus it's not really in the storyline to pull something off such as that. As for Frankie, I had a feeling about her being married since Scotty had said to her during 6X11- Wings, " Is he going to be there too"? I think that Frankie probably has a habit of stepping out on Billy so he did have right to find out who the guy was. After all he is her husband, and Scotty really needs to go on a dating site and find someone right for a change.

It was EXCELLENT and I am gonna say why! I'm gonna write a detailed review... At first: What I did not like *The final song Things I did not understand(audio quality) 1. Miller says to the scammer: do you feel something and then he says let's be honest detective: What did he say? 2. The one who tried to use Ed's card was his sister? 3. Marty says to Ed in the end that they are gonna lose the store because His sister did not get the "permission"? 4. Ed lost all the money because of bad investment, taxes and the friend that sued him, This last detail is very important because for what I could see that was not the reason why he lost everything 5. Why Ed and his sister went to Atlantic City? 6. Ed's dad used the money for surgery? What I liked: will try to summarize *Nikki's and Stillman interrogation *Vera's lotto thing *Frankie is likely to be gone *Lilly was kind of rude with the sister *Victims this season have been likeable: some are normal people like Ed, others are revolutionary like Miriam in WW or the girl in Wings but they all are nice people *The homicide scene was extremelly well done and the murderer(even creepy) had motives and there was a relationship HATE-LOVE in the end with Ed *Kat Miller was awesome in this episode! I liked the way she interviewed the scammer and how good in the end he was arrested *Not many personal issues from detectives *The appropiate person saw the victim *It was a simple case after the compelling case Wings. This one was something that is likely to happen today... People who win money and they spent it the wrong way *simple case but the murder scene was so intense especially with Ed dying and the sister looking at him *And the main reason I loved this episode was ED: Ed has been of the most normal victims we have ever seen--- He's not the classic cc victim " I wanna save the world" he was a low class worker that won lottery and spent the money a silly way because he was not educated (and that man scammed him) and was poor during childhood... he just wanted to enjoy life and he even helped his dad It was a nice move! Ed will remain for me (a person who has watched ALL cold case episodes) as a memorable victim(top 5) THE INFAMOUS JUMPING OFF THE FENCE SCENE! I told you! they put scenes from old episodes... However.... I have watched all cc episodes and I could not recall that scene but after all It has been +100 eps so I would have to look for it =) If it had had a better Ending song: One of this season's best... Better than the 2 pieces of **** we have had this season: Triple Threat(good actors but bad screenplay) and Street Money(let's forget that one)

The jumping scene is not from an old episode, it's more likely from an episode yet to come or possibly a deleted scene from this episode. Trust me Lilly has never jumped over a fence before in six seasons.
Yes, Ed's sister was the one who had used her brother's card. Ed gave his father money, to fix his verterbe ( Sp?) Alantic City was a childhood memory when Ed was little that both him and Pam went to as kids.

Good ep, nothing outstanding, but one of those bread and butter episodes that every series must have in between the great and the not so good. I really liked the victim, Ed, I felt sorry for him - I know his story is not that unusual, I can think of at least one major winner here in the UK who blew it all and now is back to square one. And he was cute *dives into the shallow end* ! Lots of Kat this ep, so I was happy! And ooh, sekrit messages for Will! Hope this is, in fact, a Plot Point For Later. Music didn't make much of an impression on me this go around but I'm way behind at listening to contemporary stuff so it's not really a surprise I didn't recognise any of it! Not much else to say, some nice moments overall but nothing spectacular. I didn't think it sucked, either so I'm calling it a "good". And yes, the gang in Jones is always a treat to see.
