This post is inspired from morwenna16's comment: on the Possible Cancellation thread. What do you all perceive to be a proper ending for the series whenever that does happen down the line.

A dream scenario would be one of the cast members if not Lilly herself getting married or at least engaged.

Lilly taking over Stillman's place at the end, that would be good.

Lilly taking over Stillman's place at the end, that would be good. Agreed. In some way, I would like Stillman to be exiting, gracefully, and Lilly set to take his place. It would be the only fitting ending to a show whose premise was partially about a female lead detective. For this show, we need a happy ending. No character deaths, no cliffhangers, no other nonsense. A resolved case, preferably a multi-episode arc, and no relationship woes either. I don't want Lilly married, but happy.

This is my thinking too. In addition I still feel ole Bruce Springsteen needs to be a part of the ending too. I'm still vying for "Streets of Philadelphia" to play out the series with the detectives in it on the streets walking together.

That would be the best ending song for the last episode!

I don't want Lilly married, but happy. I agree with this too. I don't really need to see a big, very special ending. I'd be interested in learning a little bit more about Lilly throughout the last season, but in the end I would like to get that feeling that nothing really ended, that those detectives kept doing what they did, and that life went on for them, even though we won't see them anymore. And I hope they let Lilly keep a part of her mistery forever.

I'd like to have them working on a case, like always, and in the end, we get the sense that they will continue solving cases and helping people, but with a little closure re: each character. I'd like to see Jeffries and Vera as the odd couple, still living together, Kat, the DA boyfriend and her and his kids at the park, the Chief with the ex-wife, and in the final scene, when Lilly goes home, she opens the door, her cats are there, and she goes to the fridge for a glass of water, someone holds her from behind, kisses her neck gently, the camera pans to his face, and it is Scotty. Lilly smiles. The end.

@hehe!! You shouldn't hate Scotty so much, Eduardo!! ;D ;D He is a nice guy deep inside...! (and a hot guy outside...!!-> Irrelevant ;D)
Proper ending...? I don't know... I just want everything clear about everyone and about the relationship between some of them... I would like a strong emotional last episode: Maybe the cold case squad face a danger of stop being but they fight together, showing finally and clearly that they are the one for the other. They come out winners and they are left just like that, like that they'll keep doing what they do, even if we don't watch them.

As I had said before, Lilly being LT, and just sitting her office thinking about the years of solving " Cold Cases", and watching her squad at work on one of them. That's perfect or all of then down at Jones Tavern celebrating Stillman's retirement, would be a great ending. No soap operas or love triangles just the squad we know just being together. Somehow I can't see any of them being in love or having a good relationship, it's just doesn't work on this show.

Everyone's talking about all these happy endings they want happening. Dude, I want something that jumps the shark, and not just any shark either! I'm talking a huge fifty foot shark that would require a lot of WTF to even jump over.
I want Lilly and Scotty to find out that they really are related as half siblings. Please, don't ask me how it'd work, they could come up with something. But, Lilly and Scotty would find this out separately and would go to see the other one to tell them. But before they reach other, a murderer would come in and shoot Scotty. Lilly would find him, and tell him not to die. With his last dying breath, Scotty would say, "Lil, I've always loved you as a -" and then he dies.
Lilly would then scream "NOOOOOOOOO!" at the heavens, plus "Damn you murderers! Damn youuuu!"
And then Lilly would become an assassin, but her primary goal would be finding Scotty's killer.
*IS SHOT, AND SHOT GOOD*
