Was hunting around on the internet for other KM movies and I found the website for a movie she did a few years ago called "Role of a Lifetime." I don't think it aired theatrically, and I'm not sure it's on video either. But... They have a trailer for it online which features a ton of Kathryn... Here's a link to the trailer to download from the distributor's website (right click and "save target as..." to save to your hard drive): www.porchlight.com/video/roleofa_lifetime.rm(4.22 MB) Here's the distributor's website: www.porchlight.com/movies_information.php?num=37Here's some snaps from the trailer: Dig that blue eyeshadow!

The movie credits have it as 2000, so I guess around 1999/2000.

I bought it on dvd. I think it's rather good and I know Sonny likes it a lot. There's more info and a "review" of it that I did on the original "Role of a Lifetime" thread under this Filmography section. Kathryn does play a movie director in it and she has lots of screentime as she is the starring female lead.

sonny, so you think it's worth it to buy it? (what a question...) My goodness yes! I bought it and have watched it so many times, and now they show it on satelitte TV often too! It's real cheesy, but simple to watch and I think has a sweet story to it. And I suppose the main reason why I do love it so much is because it's full of the lovely Kathryn!

I finally rented this one from Netflix last night, and I really enjoyed it. I have always wanted to see Kathryn tackle a romantic comedy type of role, and as expected, she was perfect for it. I thought the storyline was very interesting. Scott Bakula's character had a chance to redo his life, but he only sees it as a chance to redo his career until he comes face to face with the person he used to be. It worked really well, and I liked the way everything fit together without feeling forced. Kathryn, despite the crazy hair style, looked beautiful in this film. She was excellent in that scene with Bakula at her place when she learns the truth. She had to switch between so many different emotions within that scene, and she really did a nice job. I also really liked the side story with Bakula and the older man who liked to grow his own vegetables. It was sweet, and it helped Bakula's character to realize that there are more important things in life than being valedated for your career. Fitting, considering all of our discussions on the Emmy awards this year.

it aired on sky movies today! I had seen it before but I didn't know Kathryn was it because I was watching it for Scott Bakula but omg I totally did not realise that KM was in so much! Her hairstyle was so unbelievably cute!
KM definitely was amazing in this role [even though I only caught the last half hour or so of it] because she had to demonstrate a wide variety of emotions in quick succession without being melodramatic or fake. She certainly accomplished this as I felt my heart breaking when she was welling up and I felt her anger when she realised the truth. In the short space of time that I actually watched it, I really connected with Chelsea [her character] and the ending was ubber cute!

I finally got around to seeing this one on DVD (as in, I got tired of waiting for it to roll around on TV - LOL!), and I TOTALLY LOVED this movie. As in, I had no idea what to expect, but I liked it so much, I ended up watching it three times over the weekend. LOL! It was really cute. Perhaps a little corny, but totally one of those films that is actually kind of clever by NOT taking itself too seriously. It makes you laugh, and it also manages to incorporate a pretty strong life message as well. Scott Bakula was just great. I never have really seen him in anything other than Quantam Leap (and that was only a couple of times), so I really enjoyed his portrayal of Bobby (and Buck! LOL!). I couldn't get over how funny certain parts of this film were. The plays on all of the stereotypes of Hollywood - from actors to studios to executives ... classic! I thoroughly enjoyed Kathryn's role as Chelsea. I had no idea what her part was going to be, so I was pleasantly surprised to see her as a pivotal character. I really dug her playing the role of a film director - she wore it well! Made me start to think I wouldn't mind seeing her wear that hat in real life (as in, maybe direct an episode of CC). This film also confirmed for me something KM's director friend Rod Lurie said about her being so locked down on CC. That is, you don't always get to see everything she is capable of as an actor. And while this little film is obviously not her role of a lifetime by any means, it does show that she can handle comedy with ease - which is something not all actors can do. As such, I would love to see her do more of this type of thing, and I am now looking forward to Assassination of a High School President that will come out next Spring. Her wigged out hippie nurse role should be funny! But even with the humor, there were plenty of poignant dramatic moments that she delivered - the confession/confrontation scene, watching the proposal reenactment, her watching the finished film at the end. Great stuff. You felt for her character of Chelsea, and you actually also felt for Bobby. And I will say ... at the risk of beating the whole hair argument into the ground AND sounding completely shallow ... I DO really love her with short hair in this film. The cut was fantastic, loved the styling, and the coloring was just awesome. How funny would it be to whack off Lilly's hair to be short and sassy like this? LOL! Never happen, of course. But Kathryn can definitely do short hair. Really well. This is a little gem of a film, and I thank TVFan for recommending it to me (a LONG time ago. ).
