I've heard that when you are lying, you look to the right, because you are looking to the *future* and making up new stuff, but when you are really and honestly trying to recall info, you look to the left because you are looking into the past. So, we will be able to tell when Lilly's lying. It's down and to the left is when you're able to tell someone is lying to you. I've just rewatched an old "NCIS" episode on my computer a week ago where McGee was fascinated about how Ziva was able to tell when he was lying and when he was telling the truth. Tony was testing out Ziva's "Mossad/Ninja" abilities . I'm pretty sure it's down and to the left. The "NCIS" writing staff likes to keep things as realistic as possible, which is one of the top reasons why I love that show.

Also if I remember correctly in Chuck Palahniuk's book "Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey" there is a character (a car salesman) who explains that when a person looks to the right they're recalling information and if they look to the left they're lying.

Also if I remember correctly in Chuck Palahniuk's book "Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey" there is a character (a car salesman) who explains that when a person looks to the right they're recalling information and if they look to the left they're lying. It depends if you describe it from your point of view or the point of view of the person you watch But seriously: They say, that looking to the right (at least in right-handed persons) indicates they're thinking of something that actually did happen, when they look to the left, they think of something, they are constructing or perhaps making up (left-rigt from your POV). They say. Scientific research for that isn't so conclusive. As the idea of a left brain and right brain are a popular myth, but it's not that simple. Modern neuroimaging technics show a way more complex system. Such simplifying and generalizing theories and popular myths might work eventually in every day life somewhat practical, but don't count on it if your decision will have severe consequences, becauses you can be as well very wrong. Observing facial expressions, body language and verbal expression (voice and what is said) you can get clues, that eventually something is not fitting together in what someone is saying and how, but don't rush to conclusion, that this person is telling you a lie. All these signs you can read about in several articles and guide books are at best clues, they never are a prove. Uhm, sorry, had to intervene. I just don't like these common myths being talked about like already proven facts. (if anyone wants to discuss more you can of course pm me or we open a new thread for it) So let's get back to topic, Lilly-isms ...

I love all of these, though I have to see the original episodes(S1 to S4). I just watched these seasons in German.
Well, back to topic. Picking up the post before me:
Lilly: You want to look for Tinkerbell? Nick: In Never Never Land? Lilly: Or gay bars. Nick: You sure that's the best job for me? Lilly: Definitely.

"So, bit of an aside... Not actually a quote, more an -ism... Has anyone noticed Lilly looks down and to the right when she lies? In Mindhunters, George asked her if she ever dreamt about her 49, she said no like that. Then that guy that buired the boy (Sorry, can't remember the ep name) if she's ever felt like dying and; exact same reaction when she said no (and we all know she's remembering The Woods). I've been meaning to write a fic around this for a while, just haven't gotten the time yet. But... There y'all go. Obviously I pay too much attention!" - jambled
sorry jambed wrote this so long ago but i was looking over the posts again and i have a question. what's a 49?

I think a 49 is supposed to be report that details what happened to a victim.

Love these posts. I thought I'd add something.
Suspect: Sure you can't offer me more than that, sweet tits? Scotty: Oh... you and me are gonna some problems, Henry. Lilly: It's okay, Scotty. You wanna do me, huh? Suspect: I'm not sure yet. Twirl around once. Lilly: Scotty, give me and Henry some private time. (Scotty leaves) You've been naughty, Henry. Three murders along your truck route.
Season 1 Episode 10, The Hitchhiker
I know, not much of a quote. Funny though.

I think this is for 'Lilly-isms' not quotes per-se.
