I think it's safe to say she doesn't know Spanish: In Hubris, when they bring the hitman in and he's yelling out in Spanish, Lil gets Scotty to tell her what was being said.

Was that Spanish? I figured it was Puerto Rican or something like that, unless people from there DO speak Spanish....I have NO clue, but we CAN mark whatever he was speaking off our list!

Well isn't it so in the US that you can chose between a certain amount of foreign languages in highschool/college? And if she didn't chose Spanish maybe it was German or French? Japanese??

I think she's strictly English. With her upbringing, I doubt she was taking high school classes with an eye on the requirements for acceptance to a state university, so the foreign languages would not have been required.

Well with all of the different people she sees and interviews with her job, she probably sees/hears many different languages, and has probably picked up on a few words....just a thought....

coldcasegirl- Thanks, I worked hard on it. Getting back to this topic, perhaps she can understand another langauge but not speak or write it

Even if she did take a foreign language in high school, she probably doesn't remember it anymore. I took 7 years of Spanish between middle school, high school and college, but I am in no way fluent. In fact, I can only get a few words here and there. I think it's difficult to truly learn and retain another language unless you're using it all of the time. So, perhaps Lilly did know one at one time, but has since forgotten it?

I've been off the board waaay too long (days!).
I'd bet money that Lilly can cuss fluently in all the languages spoken in the greater Philly area by the resident crackheads, hookers, and the like.
I don't know. Does that count as "speaking" a foreign language?

Probably not "officially" Michelle, but I'm going to give it to you because I like it! I was thinking, wouldn't it be awesome if Lilly could secretly speak all sorts of languages Alias-style?? We already know that Kathryn admires Syd's kung-fu moves.

yeah sounds pretty cool TVFan. She keeps so many things secret, that we may not ever know if she knows another language...esp. if it's an 'alias' type thing, like TVFan mentioned
