In 1x21 Maternal Instincts, she says the she and Lindsay didn't make it to the year book, or something like that. Does this mean she didn't finish high school? I dunno pixie.....? I think it just meant they weren't popular, b/c to be doing their jobs, they would have to have gone to some sort of college or training schools and would probably have to have a high school diploma to get in....so ya know....I just think it was b/c they weren't the "popular crowd" maybe it means she and Lindsay skipped school photo day. I know I made a habit of that. IMO, school photo day is a day for good ol' fashioned vanity. I remeber almost EVERY girl in the school would get dolled up, with way too much foundation. They had the whole porcelain doll thing down pat. Me, on the other hand, where i have different fingers, stuck to my usual daily routine of straighten hair, if I have enough time, scuffy it up a little. Stick on the black eyeliner, another coat of black nail polish, a layer of my fave dark cherry lippie, throw on a pair of jeans and a tee, or whatever smelt clean enough, and off I went.

Lee We are kindred spirits. I skipped out every photo day in high school also. The "goth" look wasn't invented yet then but I could plaster on the black eyeliner and mascara like nobody's business!! I was frumpy and painfully shy and hadn't yet grown into my face. This has nothing to do with this thread, except to say that I bordered on failing most of my classes, including Spanish. Ergo, I am now a beautiful, intelligent, independent, hard a$$ like Lilly right? Ah, maybe not. . . . But Lilly not in the yearbook? Yeah, I can see her out behind the school passing a joint while everyone else smiled and looked pretty.

But Lilly not in the yearbook? Yeah, I can see her out behind the school passing a joint while everyone else smiled and looked pretty. Actually, I can see her doing this, too, lol. Now, I'm Australian & know nothing at all about US yearbooks but I remember a Simpsons episode where Bart shows Lisa's yearbook to some new friends she's made, & there are pictures of her in (I think) the French Club & at the Grammar Rodeo & stuff like that. That's what I thought of when Lindsay said she & Lilly weren't in the yearbook - they weren't the type to take part in extra-curricular activities. At least not the sort that get you into the yearbook, anyway. Correct me if I've got totally the wrong idea. I blame the Simpsons. ;D

"Juice Leskinen oli yks legendaarisimmista suomalais-muusikoista, ikinä", means "Juice Leskinen was one of the most legendaried (finnish-) musicians ever".
He was a great musician/songwriter who past a way a few weeks ago. And I'm very sorry about the lack of translation. I totally forgot the post... *hitting forehead against the table*

I can imagine Lilly trying to speak spanglish lol. I'm learning spanish at the minute at A2-level at my school. Isn't Spanish the second most common language in the US so naturally she'll have heard some of it. But I can see her having broken spanish ergo, spanglish lol.
I've been reading everybody elses comments as I'm new here *waves* and the comments on sign language and facial expressions is rather interesting as I'm a theatre studies student as well and I would naturally say that that is the power of non-verbal communication but it has actually intrigued me.
It will definitely be interesting to see if Lilly can actually speak a language or can use sign language as an interrogation in sign language would be very intriguing both visually and also in character development (cause who pays too much attention to her tv shows and dvds and who has way too much free time)

I've just discovered this post.
I don't think Lilly speaks any other language: Because she has had several interviews with Latino people and Scotty is always the one who interviewes them
And in "Frank's best" a man asked Scotty "tienes hermanos?"(do you have any siblings?) and Lilly said to Scotty... "what did he say"? so at least she does not speak Spanish. However, there are a lot of Latino people in Philly so maybe she knows some words.
I speak 3 languages and let me tell you. to keep a language you have to use it. I use Spanish with all my family and friends. English at work and listen to Italian music all day. I'm saying this for a comment TVFan said before. That maybe she took Languages classes in high school but since she never practiced, she just forgot

Unless you practice a language a lot it's very easy to forget. I mean, I studied French for five years and was almost fluent, but after not using it for just over a month I found I'd forgotten an awful lot.

But I could imagine Lilly speaking French somehow. I think it would fit very well. But as you've both said, it's very hard to speak languages without practicing.
