I will just be happy if Lilly is happy! ;D

I'm kind of hoping she'll choose Ray *ducks*. I know. Joseph is a good guy, yada yada, but where's the fun in safety? Go for the guy on the Harley! Besides, even with helmet hair Ray is divine!

Lilly isn't 19 anymore besides , Ray isn't the type that settles down. Joseph seems to be the more romantic type, maybe he does have a fun side that Lilly likes. Maybe will see them do something like go ice skaking or dancing together.
I personally don't care for Ray , I just don't see the two ever getting together

Hmmm would be interesting to see what Scotty's take it gonna be in all of this. I think he will comment on it. You just wait! I'd pick Joseph for long-term, Ray for short-term. We will eventually find out what Lilly decides. Edited for afterthought: How about Lilly's cats decide?

I was thinking about this Ray v. Joseph thing while I was watching the "Joseph" rerun tonight. I've come up with a sort of theory on why they have decided to bring Ray back in the middle of Lil's relationship with Joseph (other than the fact that it makes for good drama). Of course, this is purely speculative since we know so little about Ray and Lil's relationship. Maybe Ray is just a guy that Lilly can't shake. Maybe she's drawn to him for reasons even she doesn't understand. Perhaps it's his obvious good looks or bad boy image or maybe he's just a great guy (that remains to be seen). We don't know, but whatever it is, Lilly definitely has a weakness when it comes to Ray. She didn't exactly tidy things up the last time he came to town, so why wouldn't she fall right back into that trap the next time he rides in? You know, maybe Lilly likes the fact that Ray knows her history. He has seen her battle scars, and he doesn't care. She doesn't have to worry about explaining her past to him because he's a part of it. With Ray, things are easy. She knows that he's going to ride out of her life just as quickly as he rides in. She doesn't have to worry about getting ensnared in a complicated relationship where someone ends up hurt (more than likely her). She can be with Ray with no strings attached and no worries about it ending with a messy conclusion. With Lilly being so closed off and emotionally detached, it fits that she would be drawn into a "relationship" that mirrors it. Of course, we all know (and Lilly does deep down as well) that you can only go around in an emotionally detached relationship for so long before it becomes a bit stale. Eventually, you're going to long for something more - something deeper, meaningful and soul-stirring. She isn't going to find this with Ray, but the problem is, she isn't going to find it with Joseph either, unless she successfully closes the Ray chapter of her life. When we last left off, she hadn't. I think the show almost needs to bring Ray back so that Lilly can get the closure she needs to be fully happy and committed with Joseph. All's well that ends well, right?

Maybe Lilly will hopefully close off the Ray chapter and be with Joseph...
Lilly mentions in 8yrs that Ray is a drinker, now she grew up with a parent(Ellen) who drinks, now how do we know that he hasn't hurt her during one of those drinking binges? Why would she stay with a guy who reminds her of the past, wasn't her past bad ?
Her being with Joseph for me symbolizes a new beginning or a chapter in her life. For all we know he might have a fun side to him that makes Lilly happy, he might even help her with some emotional problems.
Sorry I just don't see Lilly and Ray together a couple.

Maybe Lilly will ask Scotty to help her decide who she should be with. I'll bet Scotty would tell her to stay with Joseph, since he know's he a lot more stable and better for her.

Hey, for all the L/S shippers out there (not me... I just can't picture them together) it would be great if she asked for advice and Scotty said something sappy about the two of them being together. *sigh*. Romantic, but totally not a good idea for the plot oof the show. Meanwhile, I'm with Ray all the way. Like tvfan said, he's seen her battle scars. She's been more than the hardarse det. with him, and he doesn't need her to explain her crappy family. Then again, Joseph probably doesn't need anything about her deformed cats explained since he's a cat person. Fair trade? Anyway, as a person who has been in contact with an ex for four years (it's totally pathetic, we're more than friends but less than together and one of us really should just cut it off, but it's sooo hard) I can totally see where Lil's coming from. Here's a guy who got her out of her life; the first step towards her becoming a cop. I think there's a history there that she doesn't want to deny. And he's kind of safe; sure, he rides in and out of her life, but he's a constant. always with his bikes and his few words. And the man is gorgeous. Let's not ignore that little fact. A pretty face always helps things out. Joseph is someone new, as well. From the season 4 preview, looks like they're getting on quite well but he's undiscovered territory, which can be exhilarating, but also frightening to someone like Lil who compartmentalises her life and doesn't seem to do well with emotionally charged things (her and Kite's conversation; 'tell me something about yourself.' 'No.') So she might be a little wary about this new relationship. Ray might come back at a time when she'd see sawing in a decision about how serious to get with Joseph. I'm just hoping for an intensely awkward introduction scene where Joseph answers Lilly's door to Ray. Can you imagine Lilly trying to clarify relationships? Ray, this is Joseph, my, um, boyfriend. And Joseph, this is... Ray. He's an old friend. *insert knowing look*. Lol. right, back to the topic... I'm out of the loop. I have no spoilers, only my long winded line of 'what ifs' above. hee.

Lilly might not need to explain her past to Joseph, he seems to come from a simliar background . Joseph might want to start fresh and be with her in the present, I personally think he's a much more stable invididual then Ray is. Personally I don't care for Ray he isn't my type, I don't see Lilly ever choosing him over Joseph. Why would you get back together with someone you almost were going to marry when you were 19 and knew that he wasn't right for you then. People do change they both did realize that in "Dog Day Afternoons" . Lilly isn't the same person that Ray once knew,he should get over it. At this stage of Lilly's life she needs someone different that doesn't know her and won't mind the long work hours. I don't think Ray would be able to deal with that as Kite didn't either. But Joseph might, since he is also a workaholic too. They seem to be a cute couple together , I hope it works out. As for Lilly and Scotty as much as I am a shipper and will always be , I think they are much better off staying friends. Sorry I had to to rant

From TVGuide.com: Cold Case Scoop: Valens Has a Secret In the closing montage of last season's finale of Cold Case, Detective Scotty Valens (Danny Pino) applied a serious beating to a suspected pedophile who had been hanging around a playground too long. When the CBS drama returns for its fourth season on Sept. 24, we'll find out that Scotty's act of off-duty violence was triggered by a secret from his past. "It's going to be about his childhood and his older brother [Nestor Carbonell] with whom he was really close," says new executive producer Veena Sud. "We learn about something that went down with a boxing coach. It's a burden Valens has carried for decades." Was Valens molested as a child? Sud is mum, while Pino hints that either way, his brooding character is headed for an emotionally trying time: "The story speaks a lot to his need to save people — probably the same reason he became a cop."

Thanks to koufax and LII for this info (copied below). On www.etonline.com there is a brief article on 'Cold Case'. Click on the television section. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The article from etonline.com In a new timeslot, the fourth season of "Cold Case" is off to a strong start, premiering as the ninth most watched show of the week with 16.3 million viewers. In this Jerry Bruckheimer drama, a team of detectives solve past murder cases that have gone unsolved, i.e. "cold," in Philadelphia. Kathryn Morris, who plays Detective Lilly Rush, is positive about the show's move from 8 to 9 p.m. on Sundays, following its new lead-in, "The Amazing Race." "I love 'The Amazing Race.' There's a lot of energy there, and I think 'Cold Case' is really getting a lot more action. To be followed by 'Without A Trace' at 10, I'm really excited about it," Morris shares. Morris, who literally let her hair down in season two, also reveals that the characters' personal lives will be explored in more depth this year. Fans already witnessed one instance, when Lilly was shown in bed with Joseph (Kenneth Johnson), the man she met in the season three finale. "We're really getting into the personal life of Lilly Rush this year," Morris divulges. "We're going back to some of the classic Lilly Rush moments from the beginning of the series, and, also in the same way, delving into the evolution of her discontent and hope. I'm very excited about this season. We're also going much edgier, and I think the season definitely is going to prove to be very fulfilling for the audience." Meanwhile, Danny Pino (who plays Detective Scotty Valens) says that the audience is going to see "a darker side of Philadelphia" this season, and that a secret from his character's past will surface. Tracie Thoms, who joined the cast in season three as Detective Kat Miller, also weighs in on what fans can expect this season regarding her character. "We talked about how she was shot in the past, so [we'll find out] exactly what she did with narcotics, and the circumstances under which she was shot will come up," Thoms explains.

I'm so excited to hear Kathryn say that we're going to learn a lot about Lilly this season. She seems to be really excited about the fourth season, so this gives me even more faith in Team CC.
