If she didn't look like Lilly at all maybe she would turned out not to be her real mother ;] You know Ewka, haha, I never even thought of that!

That would just be too much to deal with, I mean our poor Lilly has enough issues with her past. A good theory though ewka ;D

Yes, myril I thought that same thing. Don't remember which ep Lilly had to go get the meds cause her sister was MIA to do it for mom. That was in Season 1. I guess I took it she was really sick like "bedridden" although it was never specified.

It was in Sherry Darlin. She was about to leave but James' brother walked in showing he'd be hit by James.

Air Date: 4/9/06 (SUNDAY) Time Slot: 8:00 PM-9:00 PM EST on CBS Episode Title: (#319) "Beautiful Little Fool"
WHEN A PREGNANT WOMAN RESEARCHING HER FAMILY HISTORY COMES ACROSS NEWS THAT HER GREAT GRANDMOTHER WAS MURDERED AND THE CASE WAS NEVER SOLVED, LILLY REOPENS THE OLDEST CASE OF HER CAREER, ON "COLD CASE," SUNDAY, APRIL 9
Emmy Award Nominees Meredith Baxter ("Family Ties") and June Lockhart ("Lassie") Guest Star
"Beautiful Little Fool" -- When a pregnant woman researching her family history comes across disturbing news that her great grandmother, Violet Holley, was murdered and the case was never solved, Lilly tackles the 1929 case, her oldest to date, on COLD CASE Sunday, April 9 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Kevin Bray directed the episode that was written by Liz W. Garcia
Emmy Award nominee Meredith Baxter ("Family Ties") guest stars as Lilly's mother Ellen Rush and Emmy Award nominee June Lockhart ("Lassie") guest stars as Caroline Bartleby, Nick's little sister.
While the team teases Lilly about her "500-year-old case," she rolls up her sleeves and dusts off the few notes from the crime which only reveal that Violet Holley was from the wrong side of the tracks and became pregnant by a man, Nick Bartleby, who was considered royalty. Most, if not all, of the suspects from 1929 are either dead or their memories aren't reliable, however, Lilly comes upon Nick's great grandson and discovers recorded tapes that might lead her in the direction of the murderer. Meanwhile, Lilly's mother, Ellen (guest star Meredith Baxter), announces her engagement and wants nothing more than her daughter to stand beside her during the ceremony.
Lilly Rush: Kathryn Morris John Stillman: John Finn Nick Vera: Jeremy Ratchford Will Jeffries: Thom Barry Scotty Valens: Danny Pino Kat Miller: Tracie Thoms Ellen Rush: Meredith Baxter Jackie: Greg Travis Violet (1928/1929): Allison Miller Spyczyk (1929): Nick Spano Daniel Spyczyk: H. Holy cow! Does anyone else see what I see and make the same weird connection that I'm making? It's not anything major, but I still can't think of any words to describe how strange all this is....

In "Sanctuary" Scotty says to Ramiro:
Scotty: "Weddings and funerals ... always bring back the dummies who are supposed to stay lost."
I wonder if this is supposed to foreshadow anything bad with Lilly's mom appearing in the series for the first time? (And this isn't the weird thing I've noticed earlier, btw.)

Okay, Sonny, I'll spill....but only because it's going to really freak out Disasterfreak!!! Remember how last season, "Best Friends" aired on Mother's Day?? And it was a weird thing to do, because Curtis and Rose Collins were both orphans (as probably was Billie DuCette too), and Jeffries had lost his wife and had no kids? Well look who appears again in this episode.... Lena, the woman Jeffries was set up with on last year's Mother's Day episode! Not only that, Lilly's mother appears in this episode! And this case is about a pregnant woman wanting to know more about her grandmother!! And this episode seems like it will reveal more about Vera's marital problems with his wife--who seems to be infertile! (Remember Vera wanting to adopt a kid? Remember how it was Vera who had insight into John Doe's "medical issues" that became a problem in marriages? Could Vera know all this about John Doe because he or his wife is infertile??) Connections? See them?? Nothing major, but still pretty weird, huh??!!

... I think it's just a coincidence ;D.... I just find it peculiarly interesting how Jeffries' story reaches from a Motherless-Mother's Day episode to this one--which is "symbol-pregnant" with references to motherhood and maternity....

Ha ha... that woman-wants-to-know-her-grandmothers-death, was also used in The Letter..... I think that's it's kinda WOW that the writer can push it so far as 1929, I wonder if they can push the barrier further down, but then they would have to make a great story and a even greater reason to re-open it. Just me

Stop makin' fun of me! It's a coincidence and you know it :smile31: . There's just no point to there being so much symbolism. I mean, why play around with our heads like that? If it had to do with the storyline, then so be it, but what's the point in this case? It'd just be symbolism for the sake of symbolism... and therefore... artsy-fartsyness... :smile81: I mean this respectfully of course, Boxman.

Well look who appears again in this episode.... Lena, the woman Jeffries was set up with on last year's Mother's Day episode! AWESOME, BOXMAN! I totally didn't notice this. Sounds like we're going to get a glimpse into Jeffries' love life. I capped a shot of the actress Shelley Robertson from an episode of "Close To Home", here's what she looks like:

I hope things are going good for Jeffries... it's been a little less than a year now since they met? Thanks for the pic! I recognize her hair, but couldn't really make out her face...she was so far away in that scene in "Best Friends".

It'd just be symbolism for the sake of symbolism... and therefore... artsy-fartsyness... ha ha ha! I think they have a lot of talented people putting the show together. And as hectic as their schedule must be, somehow they still have enough time to pull off fun things like this for us to think about. We'll see soon what this is all about, and I'm even more excited about seeing this episode as Vera's divorce seems certain at this point....
