Thought I'd start a thread for this show in this folder. Premieres next Monday (July 23rd) at 10 p.m. on TNT. Stars Holly Hunter "as Grace Hanadarko, a tormented, fast-living Oklahoma City police detective who, despite being at the top of her field, takes self-destruction to new heights in need of turning her life around." More info on the show can be found over at TNT. Anyone else going to tune in? I'm looking forward to it!

Saw the preview for it last night, while watching a re-run of CC. It looks very good.

OMG I love the premiere =)! I love the music they use on this show too, especially at the end...Los Lonely Boys rocks!! and I loved the heavy metal in german language. I thought that was pretty cool. Holly Hunter played her role just perfect, I wasn't expecting this character to be that messed up....completely opposite traits of Lilly XD. Terrific Show so far!

Jeez I didn't realize TNT can be so racy in their programming. There was a TON of sex & foul language! Not that it offends me or anything, I was just surprised by it (kinda makes me wish we could see Cold Case with more of those two elements.) The supernatural (angel) elements in it were pretty trippy, I liked em. And Kenny was alot more animated than he was in CC, they gave his character alot to do. Good show, I think it'll take off with viewers -- I read some of the TNT board on Saving Grace -- it looks like alot of people like it --- forums.tnt.tv/jive/tnt/forum.jspa?forumID=24

Lol I realized there was a lot of "sex" scenes for a "minor" like me to watch, but I've been watching Rated R movies when I was like 10. My parents don't know what the ratings mean, but my big brother could care less because he knows I would never do those things. It's all just ENTERTAINMENT....man why do so many people compare it to reality? I heard a lot of people say on those boards that this is a bad show because it disgraces Oklahoma, but get REAL...there's no need to be LITERAL.....it's just trying to set itself up still for the plotline. It's just a STORY....Idk why people can't get it through their heads...I mean this is television we're talking about..not reality tv....-.-.

Hmmm, I'm not quite sure what I think about this show as yet. I watched the premiere ... but I definitely didn't leave it feeling overly compelled by what I saw. I was sort of like, "And ...?" I love Holly Hunter. I do. But Grace as a character seems a little ... well, over the top. I get that she's out of control and all, and she's getting Last Chance Angel Earl to help her out, but there isn't anything else about her that makes me want to care about her and/or about her struggle to right herself. She doesn't even seem to be that great of a cop at this point. Strange, but I'll keep watching. More thoughts over at Pass the Remote.

Thanks LII. I'm a little confused with how I feel about the show - it's like I want to like it more than I do. LOL! But since it's only the pilot episode, things will likely pan out a bit. I just remember immediately liking CC and The Closer, so it's strange to only feel lukewarm about this one. BTW, you can always catch up on episodes online over at TNT.

I don't know. I think I really like this show because it's well...excuse my language for a "minor" here for a moment...but I think this show is "ballsy" in the way the characters are presented. I have to admit..I knew she was messed up, but I didn't she was "that" messed up. It's something I think television has never done before. She's really "ballsy"...more than Dr. Gregory House in House MD.

Second ep airs tonight ... only saw a couple of previews (as TNT still seems to keep airing the original promo to tune into the series on the whole). From what I saw, the ep looks kind of interesting - something about two brothers being at odds, I think. We'll see.

LillyKat, I feel the same thing. A surprising show, rhythm, humor, very great underscore, and Holly Hunter is absolutely fabulous. But I am not sure to love, this idea of redemption, how to say, which seems a little forced. But I believe nevertheless that this series and the character of Grace have a lot of potential. I was a lot moved with the ending scene at the city memorial. So, I wait for the 2nd episode.

Well, I watched the second ep, and I confess it did even less for me than the pilot. I don't know ... this has to be one of the biggest disappointments of a show for me in a long while. I don't know what I was expecting, but I'm just not feeling Grace at all. She annoys me, I'm already tired of her routine, and even though Holly Hunter is lively to watch, about the only thing saving (no pun intended) the show for me is Laura San Giacomo and Angel Earl. More thoughts over at PTR.

Is there a clause in Holly's contract that requires nudity, or at least the implication of nudity, in each episode? I've watched the first 2 episodes now, I thought I'd give it a go, and I too am not sure what to think. I can understand the first episode being a little "out there", starting with a sex scene, the drinking, smoking etc. They have to establish the depths to which Grace has sunk and requires saving from, and grab the headlines. It is common for shows to change quite a lot between pilot and 2nd episode. I assumed the 2nd episode would be toned down, which it was, but less so than expected. The Earl angel angle (see what I did there ;D ) is interesting but I think it could wear thin quite quickly. I'm a non-believer so ramming the whole "God exists" bit down my throat is only going to irritate me. At least CC's "ghosts" leave it up to the viewer to decide what it might mean. I'm sure it is a quality piece of work by all concerned but I can't see me watching any more episodes. There's little to keep me coming back.
